Giants Crush Dolphins 26-3—How Much Should We Believe?

The Giants’ 26-3 win over Miami showed better depth, physicality and execution, but it also made the roster decisions harder—especially at running back. Tyrone Tracy flashed again, yet another costly mistake put his role and John Harbaugh’s trust in the middle of the biggest debate of the episode.

The Big Question: Did the Giants’ 26-3 preseason win show real progress, or was Miami too depleted to tell? The performance gave New York legitimate positives in depth and execution, but Drew and Rob agreed the real proof still has to come against NFL starters in the regular season.
Tracy’s fumble inside Miami territory turned into the longest argument of the show. Drew pushed back on the idea that two preseason mistakes erase two seasons of production, while the conversation shifted to Devin Singletary’s consistency, Najee Harris returning to the mix, Cam Skattebo’s place in the room and whether the Giants can realistically carry all four backs.
The secondary was another major point of debate. Greg Newsome and Paulson Adebo looked encouraging, Deonte Banks continued to make plays, Dru Phillips forced two fumbles but still drew criticism for his coverage, and Tyler Nubin again looked more comfortable around the football. The question is whether the improvement is real or simply a product of preseason competition.
The offensive line depth came out of Miami looking better than it has in years, with J.C. Davis and Marcus Mbow among the positives. The wide receiver room got even more crowded as Darius Slayton produced, Calvin Austin III showed multiple ways to help, Odell Beckham Jr. continued creating separation but missed a touchdown chance, and Dalen Cambre kept making a case on offense and special teams.
Darius Alexander’s run defense remains a concern, Dominic Zvada appears to be gaining ground in the kicking competition, and Chris Mara’s message that “hope has turned into expectations” raised the stakes around John Harbaugh’s first season.
