Giants vs Patriots Postgame Reaction Plus Jay Glazer Reports Tension Between Wink & Daboll
In the latest episode of "2 Giant Goofballs," Drew and Rob dive into the aftermath of the intense matchup between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots in their "Giants vs Patriots Postgame Reaction Plus Jay Glazer Reports Tension Between Wink & Daboll."
The hosts kick off the episode by dissecting the bombshell report from NFL insider Jay Glazer, revealing the strained relationship between Giants head coach Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. Glazer's insights suggest that the tension between the two could lead to a significant shakeup in the coaching staff, with Martindale potentially parting ways with the Giants even before the season concludes. The hosts express their surprise at the discord, especially considering the success the duo had last season.
Transitioning to the game itself, Drew and Rob provide a detailed analysis of the closely contested battle between the Giants and the Patriots. Despite the Giants' offensive struggles, the hosts highlight some exceptional throws from quarterback Tommy DeVito to wide receiver Jalin Hyatt. They note that while the Patriots had struggled to secure sacks throughout the season, they managed to apply significant pressure on DeVito in this game.
Turning their attention to the defensive side of the ball, Drew and Rob commend the Giants' defense for its stellar performance, particularly in securing three interceptions. The defensive efforts were crucial in keeping the game close and competitive. The hosts delve into individual player performances, emphasizing both the strengths and weaknesses observed during the game.
The episode combines insightful game analysis with the breaking news of internal tensions within the coaching staff, providing listeners with a comprehensive overview of the Giants' latest matchup and the potential shakeup in the coaching hierarchy. As always, Drew and Rob infuse their signature humor and banter into the discussion, making it an engaging listen for Giants fans and football enthusiasts alike.

welcome to two giant goofballs a New York Giants podcast are you a goofball that loves Giants football if if so sit back and relax as we talk about the team that both excites and frustrates us so much and now here are your goofball hosts Drew and Rob Phil goofballs the two giant GOP balls New York Giants podcast I am Drew joined as always by Amy we are almost there to a winning streak we no we're on a winning streak we're not almost there we're on there on the no no two is a streak two is a streak I'm where's the first winning of this two is a skid mark a streak NOP nope oh guess they call him the streak boogy boogy F thing on TV two is a skid mark three oh yes I'm going Ray Stevens we're going musical this quickly into the show Ray Stevens uh probably a name I haven't thought of in probably 10 years at least at minimum at minimum yeah exactly yeah U but yeah guys we officially have I'm calling it even Rob won't call it that because it is a winning stre we got a SK games in a row it's two games in a row we got a winning streak going [ __ ] games in a row we got skk going on Patriots 10 to seven oh yes listen it's still a win is a win a win is a win so you know awesome we both if you guys follow us on our pick thems we both picked this game the under the Giants to win my god well teams here's the one problem we had though we at least when we picked I didn't see what the final spread was the spread was three and a half for the win so we actually lost we lost on that part of it there we didn't we didn't get our our uh trifectas there of getting the win the over under and the uh spread pick there but still we did pick the Giants to win we did pick the the under with a 33 and a half spread which is just Insanity sad sad
yeah I mean and it's sad when we're sitting there saying that's not low enough yeah and it's even more sad when that's validated by the final score I mean talking about a just a sloppy game offensively it's wow and we almost got extra time of this crap basically luckily a missed kick which we'll get into a little bit because if you want to talk about teams tanking guy missing the final field goal at the very end was very obtainable just saying you want to talk about team tanking but let's let's get the numb yeah yeah let's go to the numb I'm sorry rain was rain weather's not the best I mean I don't know I don't want to it's a nice drizzle if you want to get your foil hat on this this is a good situation for a foil hat I'm just saying or your raincoat yeah well no no one's having sex I wasn't talking about that ranco I was talking about because it's okay I me get a condom on but whatever you never know you always gotta be sa slippery and wet
um Tommy DeVito on the day uh was 17 of 25 191 yards one touchdown no interception sacked six times we talked about this going to the game the Patriots were not a highly sacking te team for lack of a better term I know that's not a term oh well I said it um it's also know but it was yeah I mean it wasn't a team they had 19 sacks on the entire season guys 19 they had six you also got to remember I mean Bill Bel is the ghost of himself as his past but he has always always through his career beat up on rookie quarterbacks now when you have undrafted when you have an undrafted free agent that is starting against the team that he's playing against it doesn't matter how bad the Patriots have been he is always with that defense has been able to get after the quarterback and he did it just wasn't enough to win the game because his offense is that bad honestly I think it's just I think it's more of a sign of how bad the pass prot really is for the Giants I mean I I take it much more as that than I do about anything else and I do think part of it also is just DeVito not seeing stuff still because as you mentioned he's undrafted rookie free agent quarterbacks doesn't have a lot of experience necessarily the NFL still obviously but he is looking better with each game where he's actually to the point where you almost look at him now and go okay maybe he could be the backup of the future for the Giants there depending on how things progress the rest of the season there behind Drake May yeah gotcha behind whoever I mean let's be honest we keep winning games it might be behind a second round pick for all we do it's like you never you never know how things are going to happen here all I know is he's car pulling home with his mom and dad who were at the game and he's gonna give himself a nice was that Tommy deito at your door I heard a knocking sound was that Tommy Tommy I don't know my door or not but he's going to have himself nice FM sandwich nice chicken pal oh yeah um I thought it's interesting sequan of the day 12 carries 46 yards 3.8 yards per carry didn't do too much there in that respect there but we talked about this going into the game that the Patriots run a very good Rush defense um you know we talked about some of their stats they have a lot of stats within the top 10 of the NFL there they're very good at stopping the Run overall uh I I I think that's an okay manageable day for him at that point against I I I I also brought up like I brought up you know how good bill bich has been historically against rookie quarterbacks he is also what did Bill belich have for breakfast uh he definitely had kiss know he definitely had Taylor Ham because he is that kind of guy he didn't have porol the son of a gun no no I'm saying he had some egg whites and some mu let's be honest here this point no but he's he's really good and like listen he not kissing his butt the guy's been in the league as dominant head coach his team sucks he's been with them all year long okay team sucks this year you're right but what does he do well and he he's done it but he hasn't done it all year he hasn't this he's done it to the best of the ability of his sucky team but he's also taking out he's also taking out the best player on offense who who's our best player in offense Barkley SE well not today but sequan overall yeah well I mean yeah what was he doing he allowed Tommy DeVito to throw the ball because I guess he was after Barkley more than he was at DeVito well again I think it's just they have a very good Rush defense in general I think thisly they went after Barkley as much as that's just what they are good at stopping again I think 46 yards against a very good team is not a bad outing for him whatsoever is that a strong showing no of course not it's definitely not an embarrassment uh you know I'll take it I wish they got him a little more involved in the passing game like we talked about the pregame show there um you know but he also had one drop uh himself at that point he had I know wandale had a drop there were a couple of drops in this game as well that definitely should not have been drops um let's get on to that receiving part there we're going to skip the rest of the rushing game because it pretty much sucked Matt Freda was two of six and Tommy deito five of six so yeah seven seven carries 12 yards it's not the best out between the two um receiving watch Jaylen hayatt welcome to the party Jaylen hayatt his I believe this is his first career 100 yard rushing game 100% it is I also I also believe that Rob you should not turn to your side right now you should not don't that no don't go to that side don't go into the light there's a really bright light over there I'm not sure what's going on here but I saw the show Ghost Whisper and that's not good who there back there oh
[ __ ] so Jaylen Hyatt though five catches on the day 109 yards only targeted six times so highly efficient very good overall and obviously I don't tell you guys what kind of average that is that's the math pretty easy to do on that one there um 41 yard was his long one it was just it was the Giants offense was basically just dink dunk Short Run Deep pass to high it that's all it was the whole entire game and even like in the beginning the offense would move the ball just close enough to not be in field goal range and have to punt it it's like we get the yards we wouldn't get the end result points you know it's crazy Drew like we we we talked about this is how this offense has got to work you a little dink dunk deep ball height Waller something like that yeah granted wasn't the sexiest football we saw out there today yeah but it won us a game it did it did it hide Us in there and think about what I just said for a second here9 yards for Jaylen hayatt Tommy DeVito had 191 yards in the day 60% of his uh yards was at H yeah fuing 82 yards of his 191 yards were not the Hyatt guys that just tells you what kind of day on offense this was overall Jaylen hayatt was the Lone Star the Lone Star not to be confused with that steakhouse restaurant that I believe is closing in most places not to be confused with the i the theyd shut down but all right yes and they kept they kept on trying to jam him with brasberry Jam but only one man Lone Star Lone
Star uh on the day rest wise Wanda Robinson four of 26 uh Darius Slayton two of 16 uh Isaiah hodin had one catch for 12 yards very important catch though that was his the lone touchdown by the Giants in the game here yeah uh where basically uh he was about to brought down about the five yard line it Lally just like stuffed the defender and just shoved him down to the ground and was able to go on slide into the corner of the end zone there uh for the lone touchdown and let's be very Frank if it wasn't for that play we're talking about a loss episode right now probably because the Giants didn't show much otherwise I mean he should have been tackled anybody else probably would have tackled him that was that was it was a good play to not uh you know go down there um yeah he he definitely gave it his all in that and I had to watch the highlights because I was in the dog park because my dog had to do his uh Duty his business Duty um rest of the receivers all with one catch BR had a catch for 10 yards uh Bellinger for eight uh Shep for six uh Barkley for six and then Paris Campbell one catch for negative -2 yards I gotta say wow talk about a stock drop this guy um you know obviously we got the byee coming up and Rob and I will doing an episode and kind of the biggest surprise and and the biggest disappointments um for the New York Giants at the halfway point yeah look at that not to give any mystery Paris Campbell may come up in this whole thing wow um there maybe more disappointments than uh overachievers if you will probably probably um you my new tablet what I got sidetracked I'm sorry I I'm sorry we're trying to do a show here Rob some professionalism goddamn it that's why I got it I could be a better professional alrighty so one thing I I didn't hear much talk of and I I think should be talked about a little bit in this is the fumble issue with the Giant here we definitely had a little fumblitis issue with this this game here uh Tommy DeVito had two lost one Nick McLoud uh gets counted for a fumble as well in that punt where basically the the ball just happen to hit him and once it hits him it's a li ball that counts as a fumble even though he didn't technically fumble the ball but the two with toito is a little bit concerning because that's when it wasn't like they knocked it out as he went to throw it it was more like him trying to run and just dropping the ball ball like you got to keep that ball tight when you're a quarterback and you're running you got to keep that ball tight it's got to be all that exra verion olive oil yeah he's greased up with you gotta remember like you gotta think like it's really cold it's really really cold and the balls need to stay tight for warmth yeah plus it was a wet day like it's yeah it was it started raining around like 1:30 over at least where I'm at so it's definitely raining earlier than that and it was just it wasn't but rainy you're not if you keep the ball close when you're running the ball like that you're not going to have that problem especially when you're a quarterback because when you're a quarterback in run the ball nine times out of 10 you're running it up the middle like like because because the the pocket's breaking down that means there's people all around you you better hold on to that goddamn ball so you know hopefully that's just a lesson learn kind of scenario for him and that's it but you know like I said just something to kind of keep an eye on it's something as the year progresses we still got plenty of football left to go in this season so you know we just got to see where he's
at all right so let's let's let's talk a little bit about as far as the defense though for the Patriots there um much I don't want to uh nice crazy thing is nobody had nobody had like a really big tackle day for them nobody had over six tackles that was JC Jackson and listen anytime JC Jackson is your guy with tons of tackles that's a good day at that point overall because he's a quarterback guys so when we talked about this before your quarterbacks your safety should not be leading the team in in tackles that means people are getting to the second line of scrimmage there at that point they're getting past the line they're getting off to that second level third level of the defense there and that's an issue overall uh obviously the big news what we talked about was the six sacks nobody really went a little crazy though it's all like one sack one and a half
sack everyone gets a half a sack basically for the whole team you get a sack you get a sack you get a sack the one guy the one guy that I I would say kind of hurt us in the beginning there would have been um our old buddy jabril Peppers who of course um had this early on sack had a had a fumble recovery you know he he was he was a guy that I should say fumble recovery I think it technically goes I guess it does technically go to uh DeVito that first one he had when he dropped the the ball got dropped on the way over to Wale for a screen it's a bad handoff so yeah that counts as a fumble but yeah I mean early on he was Peppers was all over the place there kind of calmed down as the game went on went back to his usual pepper self it's kind of like when you first
bite pepper down pepper to speaking of peppers I just forgot about this did you get a jalapeno pepper yet I did not you still owe the goofballs here a viewing of you eating a jalapeno pepper for losing on my way home from work tomorrow I'll pick up a pepper as a review the week we'll do it we got we got we'll do it Wednesday we gota come up to the win or loser it's too late this week I'm not gonna do it because I've already seen your which your year been doing pickwise so far I'm good man's on freaking fire literally um on fire this Rob is on
fire all right so let's get into our defense of what they did so obviously part of that equation is going to be what do they do on offense overall so um I got to ask a question is it just me or does mck Jones appear to be the worst quarterback since Ryan Lea like what the hell my God uh yeah y Wow might he might be worse he had what 89 yards on the day we go from like a guy who listen your starting quarterback at half the yards as a third string on drafted fre quarterback and had two picks he was your first and he was your first round pick oh my God we shouldn't be laughing though because we might be that b a couple years the way our looks been but you know T they averaged 4.1 yards per pass on the day between the two so had ma Jones in the first half Bailey zappy in the second M Jones 12 of 21 89 yards two interceptions sacked one time uh bayy zappy nine of 14 uh 54 yards one interception sacked one time as well so yeah it's pretty safe to say that we stopped the passing attack but it's more like the passing attack I feel like stopped itself I don't want give I mean I mean Douglas is your top receiver I just I just feel like I can't sit there I can't sit there and give the Giants credit for stopping this passing offense because of how bad this passing offense is if that makes sense 100% so this is what I was saying in our preview and building up to this week two terrible offense right offens is is how
two above average defense is is which one was better that's who won the game on the offense side yeah so balls down to yeah I mean you got two bad offenses you got two above average defenses I you know what honestly giant was just a smidge better at defense and with the two two terrible offenses like it just you get a game like 10 to seven you know what though honestly it's like I feel like I I feel like part of this also is with the you know with the Giants as well like I look at this game and go okay I feel like a good a good offense would have torn apart this Patriot defense today torn it apart was that say it again sorry I said I feel like any other offense but the Giants would have torn this Patriot defense apart today the Patriot defense was just not on point no they were not but would they have torched that defense I I no I think so I thought they looked bad today honestly I thought that the guys that we threw all right so take like tght throws or something like that it was it was especially with the high at ones like he had like nobody around him for like five yards on either direction like yeah I could have thrown the ball to Jay in some of these play all right take away like your top 10 going to the playoff teams I don't think anyone else is torturing that defense they will definitely have put up more than 10 points I I'm not saying on a regular basis but I'm saying on this day specifically the defense just did not look good just did listen the under is a good the under has been a very good uh point this week so yeah you can say this week but once again I'm going to really the under has been a big thing this week unless you're the top four in the AFC the top or yeah top four in the AFC going into the playoffs top four in the AFC uh NFC going into the playoffs I don't think any of these teams are gonna get torched by this or any of those teams would have torched aside those eight teams I don't think they would have torched this defense the defense would have looked worse yes they probably would have gave up 20 but I think I think this is that torched I wouldn't say that it's not like a shlock would have got destroyed by say the Broncos no not that Bron not the Broncos Dolph especially especially like this year when you say torch you you kind of have to be in that 70 column I it would have been 30 35 points I'm saying against him it could have been that kind I unless you're not the top if you're not in the top third which are your playoff teams at this point I don't think it would have been 30 well we'll see um let's go into the the week's over let's get into the receivers here um so you already mentioned Mario Douglas led the patriots six car six catches 49 yards uh Devonte Parker 3 42 taquon Thorton two of 19 juu Smith Schuster really earning that great contract they gave him with two catches and 10 yards Randi Stevenson five catches he was kind of the fallback option uh for nine yards so just tells you what's going on there kaan boute one catch eight yards uh Ezekiel Elliott two catches six yards so yeah not really a great day by anybody on that offense except for no and did juu get like an eight- yard catch uh no he got a five yard catch oh so he had two catches I thought one of them was long I thought okay L his long catch was five yards so the only so then he dropped one that was Far okay just so Parker had a 19 yard catch Smith had a uh I'm sorry uh Thorton had a 15 yard catch and Douglas had a 14 yard catch so there's a couple of intermediate but nobody had any bombs or anything like that crazy so no no my God onto the rushing offense for the Patriots amandre Stevenson 21 carries 4 uh 98 yards for as a 4.7 yard average the one touchdown so again our struggles definitely were there against the Run do keep in mind obviously for those who may not have watched the game that sexy dexi himself was not in the game that does make a difference obviously uh Ezekiel Elliott nine carries 46 yards for a 5.1 carry average as always the zek just loves to try a beat up on the Giants uh and then Thon had that's all he had I'm just glad that's all he had because that's the last thing I want to read in the paper honestly I feel like the Patriots should have just kept on running the ball I mean to only carry the ball 31 yards when it's your only version of success whatsoever like it should have been a two to1 ratio for the Run not for the pass like it was yeah listen this is a team let when they played the bills last year and they threw it twice in the first half they're not afraid to do that I don't understand why they didn't do that no yeah it just like listen when you threw a pig like our our Corners played pretty pretty darn good again they did I don't want give too much credit I don't want to give too much credit because of who they played against and I hate to say it that way because I feel like everybody why I said pretty that's I'm saying that's that's why I said pretty darn good not that great all right so on to our guys on defense here so Xavier mckin led the way for 10 tackles had two passes defended but car that's next guy Bobby oake he was the stud of the game you know what the one play though that annoyed me was with that one where he went for the strip fumble and he should just gone for the sack there was one play I want was a third quarter and that sack was so easy to get and it it again obviously won the game so I'm not going to sit there and kill the guy for it but that would end of the drive right then and there right then and there I thought you maybe that the interception he caused that was 55 yards the other way that maybe that upset you yeah uh well he did have that other interception he could have had that he dropped as well um that's why he on defense yeah exactly but yeah his big play was as you alluded to the 55 Yard interception return uh which set him up the Giants for their lone touchdown and let's be honest if it wasn't for that play the Giants were're talking about a giant loss again yeah I mean it's okay a quarterback
guys I was watching I'm like if he doesn't get into the end zone do we get a touchdown honestly I was like okay we're in field goal range so here's three points for us that's I had a buddy over and it's exactly what I said I'm like well we probably have three points hey I called it I said three and0 we win three and0 so you know we're close it was I was off by the one touchdown on each side the win margin was right well I saying you kind of wipe out those two touchdowns you're right yeah uh so Dory Jackson also had eight tackles we talked about that corners getting tackles not a good thing that means someone's caught the ball Micah mcfaden and pinck both had uh six tackles a piece ason Robinson and Kavon both had five along with Jihad Ward uh Jihad Ward was a surprising uh sack artist here on the day with one and a half sacks the other half went to Kavon Tibido who just continues his assault on quarterbacks all seon long 11 we talked about this where he is already into like he's he's gonna get into some territory of like big alltime giants names before the season's over as far as how many sacks he's gonna have um you know keep in mind the Giants now we 4- eight so we're 12 games in we got five more to go so you figure it's about one more third of the Season at that point he's probably G to have about 16 sacks based on the average granted he's not gonna play the commanders again that's gonna hurt him he half his sacks on the commanders this year but still I mean Grant I mean we' played Philly twice so they're better better offensive line but he did it he looked he looked pretty darn good when he played him last year he he always he always looks pretty damn good he's got he just he's just he's got some technique things and you still see it sometimes with him but he's just got that raw speed and strength combo that he can just get around he's faster than anybody else basically on the field minus the receivers that's what he is it's just it's it's it's really amazing to watch um you know I'm I'm really curious to see what happens with his career overall um just because of the fact that he's just shown it year too you're talking he's already one of the best pass rushers in the NFL arguably you can say arguably but like I said he's he's still in that spot you're still G to talk to him in the conversation at that point because he's still you know top five in sacks in the NFL right now so yeah alrighty so let's get to some of the comments that we'll pay the bills then we got to talk a little about the Jay Glazer report from today oh yes Jay Glazer stiring up trouble and everybody else is joining in now um Connor says glad we won kind of LOL blowing draft stock and I wanted overtime needed a couple more players to get some stats to win on FanDuel glad for Tommy DeVito to get a touchdown at home get the win go Gman listen if you are ever counting on stats from the Giants on offense for any kind of gambling that is a bad move it is not going to go well for you man you pick up Patt out a whim and a flex spot then you're send
well it's like you expect with with um you know even like a guy like deito you expect some rushing yards at him and stuff like that he get that for you today so yeah hayatt was the only one that was a good spot for anything fantasy FanDuel whatever the case may be like that uh Deb says I'm so glad that toip pole did not go into overtime oh my God I thought I was going to I really did um Connor says plus bellich is now part of wide right and wide left I'm not so sure the wide left goes down in history like the wide right did I think that one might be a little more yeah yeah uh Deb says you not mention Hodes didn't you get the TD we talked about hjin we talked about hjin that that was his his lone catch the loone the loone the loone catch Conor says Hey Roberto do you think your dog or dogs looks at us and says why are you picking up my poop what the [ __ ] is wrong with you you can't eat that what are you going to do with that you disgust me no cuz I eat it okay there we go whatever it is I think I see becomes a Tootsie Roll to
Me you no it's no chicken Palm no chicken cutlet there but you know uh Connor says I think DeVito deserves a shot at starter next year I miss Daniel though he has all the tools mobile Etc but can't get it done but until line fixed uh no I I want honestly Dita listen I don't want to overhype or or underhyped D Vito he's improved but starter no yeah no he's playing well for what is going on with his team that being said this team is not playing well overall he's been shown himself as a good backup in this league not a great backup he's not like he's not in that Baker Mayfield category category like he you're not gonna pick him
up as I try to finish so Baker is in the category he's either going to be your really solid backup quarterback or he's that guy you're gonna pick up when your team's in a pinch and you need a one year to get your quarterback situation fixed see I'm I'm kind of torn on DeVito next year as being the primary backup for one reason and one reason alone I want a mentor for whoever we draft because guys we're still gonna draft a quarterback this does not change things this does not change things whatsoever trust me we will be still drafting a quarterback but yards we have to do you want DJ to be the mentor or do you want to figure out way to get rid of DJ do you want DeVito to be the mentor if for I mean we we we talked about this before and we brought up different situations but the best scenario which I mean you said and yeah just to be you know delis Advocate I oppose the other side but the best scenario is if you're bringing in a new leader to this offense do you want the previous one there cross problems in the locker room who to follow yeah and again to be clear we because we've talked about this before we're not saying that Jones would start the trouble it's just the natural like there's guys who like Jones who follows who yeah who follows who like who do you get behind like all right I'm A Jones guy guy yeah but you just ra this guy who's gonna be our starter going forward so I like Jones but do I take orders from this guy or this guy like it's go to qua confusion locker room and you don't want that especially if I'm somebody by the team a couple years and you know I mean like I said I just and it's different than and I'll bring this up even though we're not we're we're gonna catch up in the comments in a second because Deb just put they brought Jones in when they still had Eli it's different with that because Eli was side Jones is still in Prime quote unquote of his career it's that's just that you didn't bring Jon right away to be your starter to take over Eli we all knew Eli won his two Super Bowls that one they might have Eli no well no you could sit there and debate that but it was it was a a thing like yeah we're going to replace him Eli is going to go out on his own terms there's the difference Aaron Jones got drafted when Brett fa was still on Green Bay Jordan love got drafted it when Aaron Rogers was still on Green Bay they sat behind both those guys and there was no dispute they knew their starter was their starter but they're looking towards the future waiting difference waiting time there's a difference yeah if you draft if the Giants draft this year they're not waiting their time they're trying to figure out how to get rid of J not to mention not to mention like we got Conor sitting there saying about deserving start to be starter a shout to be a starter this is because we won two games in a row winning causes those kind of things so let's say Jones is is a starter to start the season and wins a couple of games now you got people clamoring to keep Jones's as a starter if we need to move on from him so that's part of my issue at that point uh but guys again you got to keep in mind it's not just two quarterbacks because I feel like people keep talking about Caleb Williams Drake may there's a lot more more than that you know you still got Jaden Daniels at LSU you still got Bo Knicks in Oregon you still got Michael penck in Washington um you know there's still other guys even beyond that that that are still going to come into play guys like Jordan Travis at a Florida State even though we just got hurt this weekend uh you know Michael Pratt at a two lane this is a very rich very very rich quarterback draft and it's gonna be one of those drafts it's going to be one of those drafts that you're going to see I think honestly I think like you're going to see like five or six quarterbacks potentially taken within like the first 40 picks in the draft like that this is gonna be that kind of draft you're gonna go down history as one of the best or one of the most overhyped classes depending on how they work out overhyped but no no but I'm saying like you don't have like like look at a couple years ago when it was like we had Kenny uh picket and you know Malik Willis and people like that and everybody knew it's a [ __ ] year for quarterbacks you know um you know this year for example we knew we had two really good ones Prospect wise at least in Bryce young and CJ strad and then the rest was like okay after that there's a couple of guys like you know Anthony Richardson and will Levis and then there's a couple guys after that that maybe in the future but it's like this is now you got the two guys at the very top and Caleb and Drake but beyond that that second tier is not as big a drop as it usually is that second tier is still first round Talent yeah it's not guys that are second third round talent and especially the way the NFL has been and where it's been going with the the QB play there's I think there's going to be more than just five or six in the first 40 picks like oh I think there's GNA be quite a few quarterbacks like I said I'll know for sure obviously Drake and Caleb obviously um you know panx will go in that round um there there's three right there I say Bo Nicks probably end of the first round Jaden Daniels the way he's playing probably played himself into the end of the first round um kind of scenario worst case scenario uh you know it all depends on what you think about guys like Pratt and Travis with his injury and everything like that but again this is going to be a potentially Big Time draft quarterback wise and we can go in with a 10th overall pick and still get a good quarterback guys you don't have to pick top five 100% so that's one thing I want to say both because we're talking about this scenario but it's also on people freaking out that we're winning games guys don't you worry we will still suck when the year's over sounds weird to say it that way right doesn't it sound weird to say that sucking to me baby true we will suck don't you worry there'll be plenty ofam gamees for us to lose we still have two more losses coming against the Eagles you know yes we we still have that that'll put that alone puts us at 10 losses so even if we win everything else we're seven and 10 that still puts us top 10 I guarantee it um you know it's it's it's not a bad thing to win because in the end losing causes a lot of issues guys losing causes a lot of issues we don't want those issues because issues will go into next year so we still got the Packers we still got the Saints we still got the Eagles twice we still got the Rams there are plenty more games for us to lose don't you worry yeah I mean and the Packers let's see how they play today but they uh they've turned themselves around they play Thursday they played Thursday so yes they play Thursday and they won Thursday you picked them to win and everything just like me no you picked them be the spread we both picked them it will pick the Lions to win that's right you got the spread pick right in that one um but yeah I mean that was that's the team that's won a lot will probably lose then you know um will'll probably will probably be at least semi competitive against the saints and rams but we're definitely losing the Eagles so you figure we might go one and four the rest of the way and end up with five and 12 Mr Banks will have himself a good day Winston is throwing that ball down the
field someone's GNA make a deposit oh yes listen or a withdrawal is that a deposit or withdrawal I'm not sure I guess that's a withdrawal right I don't know I don't know because he's taking that the other way listen let to figure that out jamson Winston is remember a solid pick to get 14 points on the board he's a solid pick for pick that too that's what I was about to get at he's a solid pick to get 14 points on the board whether it be for his team or the other team yeah it's let's see what did he even do today I'm curious now he got zero points that's all I know I just looked at DraftKings he had zero points after playing the whole game oh that's that's that's not good oh no Derek Carr played no Derek Carr played today that's why he got zero point yeah Derek Carr did play and he got 304 yards but no touchdowns so um but yeah like I said I I just want people to realize that though losing is not a bad thing I'm worried if some people oh my God we're killing a draft stock we were bound to win a couple games guys we have a very tough end because now the Packers are rolling now obviously the Eagles have been rolling all year long so we got three losses right there got to figure we'll win maybe one of the other two like enjoy the street still in it the Rams are still in it for the playoffs they're not technically out of it yet so they're going to play and come in play as hard yeah and oh yeah and the Packers obviously as well now that they're winning because they have to keep winning they have to in order to keep going you know what the craziest thing I don't know if I brought this up before mayth you know diarrhea the mouth but the Packers two weeks ago were literally if the season in it they had the eighth pick in the draft now they're like the oh yeah e seed they're right there in it to get into the playoffs they're eighth seed to go to the playoffs for the NFC and they probably they probably will get in let's get through the rest of the comments here Connor says still DeVito one he has to learn to throw the ball away instead of losing yards but at least not filming it away when he gets sacked haa congrats to you with the day oer had a good day game two um Deb says I do hope they keep DeVito and develop him as as long as he's improving I do think he could be a backup but not yet not not even next year I think again I think he could be next year I just do think that you want if you're going to bring in a quarterback rookie quarterback you want a veteran to kind of show him the ropes somebody who's willing show him the ropes yeah you know I agree with that so yeah it's a shame though because I wouldn't mind him as a backup the way he's playing at least the last few weeks now um Deb says they brought in they brought Jones in when they still had Eli we're talking about yeah we already talked before address that part there Connor says playay Jones next year if he goes great awesome if not new guy will learn from Jones put him in at the end of the year if we out of playoffs I don't want anything of Jones getting the fans back interested in him again I really don't if he has even a smidge of success I don't want people getting back on the Jones bandwagon because that bandwagon is eventually going to have a wheel fall off and we will fall into a ravine or we all die of dissenter on the Oregon Trail let him go let go to Vegas you just caught that Oregon trailer reference oh yes I was trying to keep together no but like
listen I'm A Jones fan I've been Binga since this show started I have been a Jones fan supporter yes I think it's time is a supporter not a fan for the record not hater I think his time in New York is coming to an end he could and probably will have a good career with another team and then MIT just becoming a backup for that team or another team like listen the Falcons pick him up the Saints pick him up anything in NFC South picks him up will probably be a good move for them he goes out to Vegas he's probably going to have a long tenure there like there's there's divisions and teams that could use a player like Jones and will be yeah I mean he's also a good Bridge quarterback potentially for somebody which could get him you know back in in the starting position that way it's just a matter of what we do with him next year are we G to be able to get rid of him are we G be stuck keeping him you know we'll have to see all we know is the end is near and now he faces his final curtain my friend I'll make this clear I'll State my case of which I'm certain well I [Laughter] mean just like clarify with everyone out there it's we've never referenced notra I figured this was the time to do it it was perfect I was just actually at the rest station in New Jersey recently no but um the Frank that hold on is there a Frank Sinatra rest station hold on I'm on the rest station now you got me on this now is this literally what we've done we're now named at building people piss in next after Frank Sinatra old blue eyes deserve better God damn it oh there's that there's the was whist uh station I go to a lot com back from Philly yeah but I I I don't mind I don't mind we p a building named after a president as much because that's okay because nobody ever likes that touche God damn it Frank actually I enjoy PE on B people pooping in his building I go to B Jo R station slippery with wet Bazinga the second time we mess we did the reference of slippery and wet by the way yeah that's kind of sad all right got a couple more couple more comments here so all I say is we're we support DJ in the future just not with the giant we do 100% um Connor says watch Jones will go somewhere with blocking in better receivers and laid it up he probably will and then suck the next week again listen he's he's again he's not a horrible quarterback he is a average starting quarterback and my whole point I keep making is you are not going to win I can point I can I can count on one hand how many teams have won with an average
Quarterback doesn't happen often guys we're talking Trent dfur with the Ravens we're talking Brad Johnson with the Buccaneers that's the only ones in my lifetime you need Premier quarterback you need a really good Premier quarterback though you you do not win ranks without them we are the goddamn New York Giants we are not the Cleveland Browns getting in the playoffs just do [ __ ] for us it doesn't give us any kind of like extra you know clout in the NFL it doesn't get us any kind of you know amazing memories we've seen four Super Bowls since 1986 that we've won we've seen five overall we have higher standards and I'm sorry Jones can't get us to the standards we have can't again I like the guy as a person if I had a child I'd let him babysit he's that kind of guy you trust him but like I'm not letting him babysit the franchise because he can't do it as much as I want him to do it because a nice guy and he's got the he's got you know all the work ethic and the leadership skills you want he doesn't have the ability he can't read defenses that's what it pulls down to if you can't read defenses you cannot succeed then Conor says fear and wall Conor says I had a dream Jones became a wide receiver for us he did that one play last year you had that one catch all right let's pay the bills real quick and then we're talking about Jay Glazer and his uh report that SED up some trouble here prior to the game today which stirred up a lot of trouble actually I should say really enjoying the show looking for more goofball action consider a membership at buac coffee.com two giant goofballs membership stocked at just $5 and give you additional goofball access onetime support payments also available starting at just $3 buy me a coffee.com two giant
goofballs all right on to the issues with J Glazer and all s we actually t on talking about first but the game became so like recent like that didn't expect that kind of crazy ending um so before the game even started Jay Glazer says that head coach Brian dable and defensive coordinator Don wink marale are in such a bad place that it's unlikely that uh wink will be staying past the season in fact in fact he said he wouldn't be shocked if wink was gone during the season here's the exact quote from Jay Glazer he said there could be a mutual parting of ways when I talk to people inside that organization they're saying the tension between these two you can feel it it's just getting worse and it's just odd that it happened considering the success they had last year
together interesting but why but why interesting uh you know I've heard a lot we talked about the situation with Xavier McKinny uh calling out the coaching staff it's come to to uh the light that he was referring to wink himself directly um and there's been reports that wink wasn't too happy of the fact that dble didn't really do much about as far as far as that um you know he even let the team he even let him break down the Huddle after practice that week and everything and he kind of felt a little slated by that I mean if you want to get um exactly into the reasoning why which obviously we do or else kind of a boring show um I'll tell you it's it's two egos going at it Point Blank it's two egos going at you know both these guys are not happy where this season is and I've never seen a report say it this way but I'm goingon to say it this way even though I have no inside knowledge except for just basic psychology you got two guys that are winners and want to win and are used to having some success year in year out for the most part in their careers in the NFL you one of the worst seasons both of them I mean minus for some horrible times that dble had as an OC um you know but for the most recent year in the last five 10 years these guys have both enjoyed being on winning teams so you got two people with big heads who both want to have success and are used to having success and they simply want different things that's what it boils down to they both think there's a different way to fix the problem and neither one of them are necessarily wrong it's just a difference of opinion and unfortunately when you get people with big heads and egos into a room that differ on opinions and Views they both want their way and that doesn't tend to end ver well and of course if you're going to let one of them go because of this if becomes IM in workable you know you know untenable to that degree you're going to let go the off the defensive coordinator before the head coach yeah especially when your GM has a very close connection to the head coach yeah now I will say this interesting wording there could be a mutual parting of ways that's what he said that's exact word for word what he said now how did wink Martin Baltimore again oh that's right there was a mutual parting of ways exactly so listen I think part of it is is that wink is a guy who wants things done a certain way he's been in this league long enough that let's be very Frank he probably is in the school of thought that he deserves to be a head coach in this league he's gone on enough interviews and all for them in the past um you know I think that's what it just boils down you got two guys who don't have a huge working history keep in mind wink never worked with d before he went there last year so you know they work together for a year and change now but it's not like they have that five 10 year history like dble has with some other guys on the staff and in the end it's just two like I said two EOS that just want different things and aren't it's not working right now so you know I mean if they're going to make the move they're going to make the move let's be honest it's it's if they make the move it's not because the way the defense is going it's not because of you know the job that wink is doing it's because the the egos in the room can't get together you know so he so much in the room in in a room for people with big heads there yeah so I mean that kind of dumb it down how well do the kids play together or play with each other when Mom and Dad are fighting with each other and not paying kids not very well you know it's awkward for them I'm sure so but you can see it on the sidelines you don't see wink right next to dable all the time anymore you don't see the two of them laughing during the game and stuff like that when big plays happen like it's not the same you can tell and you've been able to tell that for quite a while you know we may not a connect the dots until now but you know I mean with that that I mean that could be one thing it also could be because once again you said there's two big OS and what happened we were a playoff team and we suck yep exactly what it is and that could be part of it too I will say and I'll start my my advocacy very early on for this if dable does let go of wink regardless of in season or after season Jerome Henderson I cannot say it enough Jerome Henderson this guy has done an amazing job year in year out with the Giants he's worked with you know look the rookies this year in the secondary what he's done with them you know he's just he's a really good position coach and I don't know if that's going to translate I'm not in the room to sit there and say that what it does or doesn't translate like that but I think he at the very least he better get a strong consideration and interview I I yeah I I see that because you know Giants as much as you especially this past few years they fired outside typically the mar family likes to hire from within the organization exactly so and he's been through now this his second coaching staff he's been on keep in mind he's part of Joe judge's staff too as well which we even mention the fact that Joe judge was at the stadium today oh I didn't even realize that Josh Jacobs just ran for 63 yards the most yards he run ran for past two weeks yeah he's he's got a little Renaissance he there on us um yeah but again I think that this is going to be something to keep an eye on giant fans overall see how this plays out seea progresses I do think that you're going to
see you know I do think you're to see some more stories on this overall I I'm curious to see in the pressers how things play out because that's going to tell you where everything's going to go in the end if you see guys like let's say dble comes up like no no it's ridiculous like wink and I are great he go or he just sits there and says I'm not going to talk about speculation and stuff like that you you're going to be able to tell by his answers what's really going on yeah read between the lines it's not always that difficult and pressors sometimes people just don't I mean maybe I say maybe with those two guys it might be a little bit more because they were both of those yeah kind of answer kind of guys yeah I just to me I yeah yeah I just I just think it's going to be interesting to see it overall I mean the Giants as an organization I will tell you right now they're going to go and uh make everything look all buddy buddy as they can in fact as I'm as we're doing this guess who got the game ball today from coach
D wink marale wink got Giants literally just released 12 minutes ago postgame speech saying you never waver regardless of how went all right defensively turnovers keep them coming man there's things we got to fix he says that's two in a row hey Wink game ball buddy and tosses him the
ball and then of course wink breaks him down with the let's go Giants on three you know but it's like there's gonna you're gonna see a lot in the press that they're going to try to squash this and quell this as best they can the Giants can figure it out because the Giants don't want to figure out this decision till the till the offseason but I do think watch those pressers watch what they say publicly and that's going to tell you where things are really at I really do think that yeah all righty don't read too much into it like I said like there both those like usually if it's like if you're down in Miami it's way easier to read it because uh McDaniel whatever the head coach's name down there he uh he's an open book and he actually might be one of the best trolls in the NFL currently funny but oh he's F he's a good personality for the league he's funny yeah did did you see did did you see uh Friday he was getting booed by the Jets fans and metti he turned around he goes because they were calling him the pansy or whatever because he stand next to the heater I and he Turn Around Goes By the way we're winning he's good like that all right let's get to the last couple comments here then we're going to head on out there guys uh says I don't think it's fair to blame Jones o line changing coaches and no real players to get open is not his fault not too many QBs do better with that situation I'm not saying I blame Jones 100% for anything do not get me wrong on that I just don't think that he rose up above that stuff enough to prove he's in that Elite category and if you're not Elite you're your average and if you're not if your quarterback is not Elite then you're not Elite as a team we need to have an elite team we're not here to build a playoff Contender for he to build a Super Bowl champion Point Blank That's the standard that this Giants team has correct de says coach Coach Charlie Weiss has picked Jane Daniels as the best QB in the draft not sure if that's good or bad yeah well Charlie weissy I'm not sure I'm not sure what I think of his opinion to be honest yeah that's he's you know he got a good I also don't know the college quarterbacks too well yet I need to do more my homework he's been he's been a stand I started watching tape now I've been starting to watch some tape and he's he's he's he's impressive but uh you know a guy hasn't done it until recent so that kind of scares you a little at times too so good and bad um Conor says wow Chiefs losing by two TDS the Raiders yeah uh and the Raiders were picked to get absolutely blown the hell out as well I know we talked about our picks it was plus n and a half by the way um yeah so I went the wrong way on that one we'll see it's game's early games early not even half Deb says do you think Bob papa is a reliable source um I will say it depends on what the report is and that goes also for Carl Banks as well in that same respect because those two go together like you know oil and vinegar as far as like they're they're they're together all the time even though they're separate at times as well um so they still work for the Giants the both those guys here's what I can't do let's say I go work for I don't know let's say I work for Walmart let's pick somewhere like that because I don't want to pick my actual job and get myself in trouble yeah let's say I work for Walmart I can't go on a radio program and say you know what the hell is wrong with Walmart they suck and they're stupid and they don't listen and that's their problem I couldn't do that because that would be my boss you wouldn't have a job anymore correct so Bob Papa can't do that Carl Banks can't do that those guys can't because they work for the Giants so I believe some of what they say but I have to always think with them is this what they want to fully report or we I have to read between the lines because 100% that's lines yeah like I said that's part of the equation with guys like that that I don't want to say have an alterior motive but they have a boss to please correct
so tisis thanks so not unbiased and I I got I don't want to say biased I would say slightly muzzled is probably the best way of putting it what do you think Rob is that a good way of putting it like slightly muzzled play like yes I mean they can't say everything they probably want to say listen if you go into Fox News or CNN news they're not going to say a certain thing because it doesn't align what they're going to say they have to keep it to one other thing Carl Banks can't say the Giants need to fix this because this is the problem with the Giants they suck he's going to say oh they're good like they need to work on this he's going to same thing with uh Pap Papa like they're going to yeah they're not going to go in and say you know what the problem is Mea needs to butt the hell out yeah and they might be like hey like Mar but out of their bank account in the process that's the problem yeah so they're gonna turn around and be like you know they need to step up their KB play they need to do this they're not gonna say Danny Jones is a horrific quarterback they're not gonna sit there and say something like that they're gonna exactly they're going to dance on eggshells exactly alrighty so guys we're we be call us to day here we got another episode obviously for you guys coming tomorrow with the recap all the stuff here coming on today um so that'll be on 8 o'clock Eastern Standard Time um we're gonna do things a little different this week coming up too as well keep in mind so obviously Wednesday we'll still do our picks episode well Rob will hopefully remember to bring a jalapeno pepper since he lost the last bet he and I did and he keeps on forgetting it whereas I keep my helmet's handy just in case okay it took you a week to get it come on I I had it the whole time we just never did it um and then Thursday obviously usually we'd have a pregame episode for you guys a preview we can't do that obviously there's no game to preview it's a byee coming up here so what we're going to do is we're going to have an episode going over the we talked about it before the biggest surprises positive wise and the biggest disappointments for the New York Giants this year because as bad as this team has been this year there's been some good stuff as well you know I don't want to give too much away but Kavon might pop up on the good side and there's been a unicorn out there that we may or may not be talking about in a good or bad light so yeah like I said I there there's good coming as well we to talk about here bad coming as well um obviously we can't do a post game for you guys either so what we may very well do and Rob and I have to sit down discuss what we're going to do here but I think what we might end up doing is kind of a a quick preview episode of all the quarterbacks coming up with this draft here so but nothing too crazy in depth because when we don't want to do that too early when the season's over we'll go in more in depth on everything there guys so like I said we'll get that stuff roll as well for you um um and then might probably put that out before Sunday as well so you guys have a chance to kind of digest it over the weekend or whatever the case may be there because next weekend since it's a bye I'll be in Disney all weekend again oh yes I will be in Disney so alrighty guys so we will see you guys again tomorrow night appreciate everybody listening in good for the Giants win I don't care what anybody says about the draft stock screw the draft stock I I want to win we got a streak got SK Mark we're streaking we're streaking through the gymnasium through the
gymnas alrighty guys so we'll see you guys again tomorrow night uh appreciate you guys as always we are Live on YouTube Facebook Twitter slash what if you're listen live if you're listening live the Buffalo Bills just took the lead over the agles yes but if you're not listening live this is Tim news you're giving them I'm just say listen we we got a couple of live people out there I just want to let you guys know I know but you know you stop me you stop me right before I said that that also we were on Rob's favorite my LinkedIn profile oh yes and of course we're on all the different audio podcast platforms as well and soon coming soon to a web screen heing you our website will be coming out as well soon so working on that slowly but surely there so we're getting that going um I keep on keep on delaying it there to be honest the dele of it mostly because I want more and more things that I want to do to it so uh yeah we're getting a lot of nice features going on to that thing here so um as always giant fans we'll see you tomorrow and go
