[Music] welcome to two giant goofballs a New York Giants podcast are you a goofball that loves Giants football if so sit back and relax as we talk about the team that both excites and frustrates us so much and now here are your goofball hosts Drew and Rob welcome fellow goofballs to two giant goofballs New York Giants podcast I am Drew joined as always by am me let's talk about how we can win this game oh yes the endless possibilities of how we could beat the Dallas Cowboys oh yes so many ways so many ways let me count the ways okay now the next seg we're gonna talk about uh so before we get started with the preview here we do got a little bit of Giants news here to go over with you um so for those you may have missed it afterwards the after the loss there to the Raiders the 30 to6 whopping that the Giants took there Xavier McKinny publicly said that the coaching staff was not listening to the Giants player leadership and wi Bale actually spoke out about that incident when I was kind of kind of shocked to be honest I I thought that'd be you know kept in house there'd be no comments whatsoever no there's other plans apparently so keep in mind Kenny also is one of the 10 captains on the team as well which I know it's just crazy like a third of the team is Captains it feels like pretty much that's voted on by players that's that's says something yeah I know obviously being factious I'm hyperbolizing yes yes or mathematics I know math hook on Phonics worked for me wait wait wait that's [Laughter] language uh but yeah uh basically wink said that he was that mcken was frustrated due the losing and had a conversation with him to clear the air afterwards mcken explained the issue was related to an in-game adjustment that was made uh wink even might mentioned that it was like one play or two plays that he was talking about specifically um but he hadn't mentioned it during the game to wink apparently according to wink at least and uh wink was pretty much caught by surprise said actually was hurt and surprised was the exact words he used which I thought was kind of interesting again this is the kind of stuff you should kept in house wasn't kept in house it it was talked about there um and basically scolded mcken saying that you know making such comments generates media attention that takes away for the team's Focus itself uh but he also wanted to recognize that obviously McKenna's comments came right after a loss and he was emotional and he stressed the importance of basic learning from that and moving forward so basically Wink's sentiments I'm gonna I'm goingon up here my own words you [ __ ] up stop don't do it again yeah pretty much hey get it you're upset we lost and I'm the play caller listen up yes listen up all right listen listen another giant spoke up as well it's a former giant now Victor Cruz was on the carton show uh Victor Cruz obviously keep in mind while he is not a official giant employee you do see him at different Giants events and all he's kind of an ambassador I don't think he has an official title necessarily with the Giants but it's interesting to see the comments that he makes because of the fact that he has such an association with the team itself as a whole uh he says and I quote in my opinion I think the Giants got to go get a new quarterback I think we need to go and do the entire

rebuild it's interesting for him to say that because he was there with some bad teams with the Giants obviously and he's been a really good Ambassador for the Giants like yeah that's what I'm saying the fact that he's like an unofficial giant employee I don't think I said again I don't think he has an official title but probably mayor the mayor's probably G him couple coins on the side senior vice president far in charge of pizza parties he's the Chuck of cheese they need new things you hear they can't they're getting rid of the animatronics there oh they're actually they actually told uh store employees to take the animatronics in the back and beat the hell of them with a bat they can't be used by somebody else because they're afraid people to take them out of the trash is that what we're supposed to do to the Cowboys um take them trash take them out of the trash well they'll be taking us out of the trash no uh we're gonna win sure we are anyway going on the Giants news anyway he says Cruz says I don't think DA's a problem I think those guys rally around him I think they love him it's just the makeup of this roster of this football team at least offensively we need to make some major changes and get some guys in there that dble likes that they draft that they bring in that they can coach interesting I thought they brought in a lot of people this off season like how many more Brian da Joe Shane's people do you need I think it's a nice way of saying we made a mistake with

Jones and we need to kind of move forward I'm with you as much as I'm Pro DJ that that kind of is the right on the wall it's like here's your guy that you're kind of paying off the books to go to all these parties and hype up the Giants until you got to rebuild the

offense what does that

say kind of says like I mean what on

board I again I'm with you it's like this is a huge deal that a guy who works with and that kind of relationship with the Giants is publicly saying that now he did also praise defensive coordinator wink marale which is key because he's specifically talking about the offense need to change uh he said he's praised him for the way he has gotten his unit to perform at a high level despite their overall lack of success on the season so I mean I wouldn't say I mean yes lack because we we can we're gonna be we're gonna be bad but it's not it's a lack of success it's definitely a key term yeah it's a nice way to say like hey they've been out on the field for 40 minutes when they shouldn't be of course they tired giving up points and a lot of turnovers and bad pH you know I mean the defense I'm saying but the defense has been put in bad positions too so considering what they've done considering yeah I said I I I don't disagree with a single thing he said except I don't think the major changes because of they need to bring in dble people like they brought in a bunch of dble people like I'm sorry you brought in a whole new wide receiver core uh you brought in the Buffalo Bills you brought in the Pro Bowl tight end you wanted to bring in you know you brought in you know you've been drafting lineman so you drafted zudo you drafted JMS you drafted Evan Neil you've drafted three out of the five offensive linemen how many more da people do we need that's the only thing I'll disagree with Victor on yeah that's just he has success with bringing some people in like Jah Hodgins last year like grit last year yes that's what I was about to say granted he hasn't played much this year but you know what much of his offense hasn't played this year even though they've been on the

fields uh you know we talked about Isaiah Hodgins into this season what did I say about him I thought it was a wi- year Pony uh unicorn I thought like we said this we both said it he was going to be the guy that we talked about like asking who would be the guy who we thought would have the biggest steep drop off next year compared to last year and we said Isaiah Hodgins Isaiah Hodgins guys 12 catches 120

yards he's not that good he's done that in a game last year yeah he's just not that good we threw to him because that's who we needed we needed you know someone to catch the ball and that's what he became basically um you know so again I I just think that that's only part out of line there do we do do D and Shane have the you know the ability now to pick their own quarterback yes and that's a big deal if you're gonna if you're going to hang your hat on something you hang your hat on the quarterback you picked but in a way they kind of picked Ang off season but what excuse me oh allergies I mean what s like they picked terrible quarterbacks in previous regimes I mean oh I know I know I I know but what I'm just getting at is I I I I don't know if he's just trying to make stuff up to make it seem like they deserve a shot but they've had their own offense they just haven't had a quarterback yeah I mean it also could be a very dipl diplomatic way of saying gotta go DJ got to go DJ got to go DJ got to go

six that'd be great all right on to the injuries here Shan harlo is listed only because he missed one G one practice here uh Wednesday uh due of a personal matter he's a full participant today so no worries there Dory Jackson concussion neck has not practiced so far this week I would say expect him not to play uh Dion Jackson running back same thing did not practice the last two two days concussion again don't expect him to play Dexter Lawrence rested on Wednesday full participant on Thursday should be no issue there Evan Neil ankle injury did not practice the first two times uh He's listed as week to week by D so you got to think week to week probably not this week uh Paris Campbell hamstring limited participant the last two atts probably should be good to go Desa Corbin hamstring limited participant the last two times should be good to go as well Aziz oari that's the interesting one here ankle injury practiced limited the last two days but this is his first two days back from practice from Miss injury here I think he's going to be a go myself personally most likely if you're GNA take this guy and say oh he could play he's going to practice Yeah I mean you don't take him off IR if you don't think he's gonna play that's my thing yes but maybe coming into this week you might be like you know what maybe give one more week let's see how he practice we're talking about practice you no i' give a I give him a very low snap count I wouldn't start him yeah I'm saying like like he's not going to be a full starter like he's like he's maybe a start Play you know you know like a count maybe a very very low count depending on how'll see play though uh Andrew Thomas limited participant the last two practices as well still de with that hamstring he should be good to go uh Dane Belton has the back injury full participant the last two days Justin Pew ankle injury full participant the two days uh Mark glinsky had a personal manner um so they didn't mark him with any kind of designation for Wednesday so and did not practice on Thursday but again personal manner nothing physically wrong with him he should be good to go uh from the Dallas Cowboys side here it's amazing how there is like a third of the amount of ours so Mar mares Bell the linebacker limited participant the last two days should be good to go there Tyler botes the center with the ankle injury full participant the last two days so should be good to go Geron curse toe injury the safety full participant the last two days should be good to go Osa and I'm G always mispronounce this

one D who I'm always I'm always going to mispronounce his name I apologize to his whole family string inap tackle living in participant the last two days uh Tyron Smith The Tackle illness did not participate in either the practices so far so that he's a veteran depends on how he feels that's what pulls down to if he's if he's good to go which you think if it's just a regular illness we're talking Thursday we got multiple days he should be good to go uh kavante Turpin the wide receiver shoulder injury did uh did not practice the last two days so he'd I'd be kind of shocked if he is good to go but you never know it's been it's got enough days there things change so alrighty so Rob and I decided to do something a little different today for you guys should we go into some comments before we go diving in to Keith's Victory here I I you know what I don't disagree with you that's a very good idea and then we're g to go into how we're going to be different this time oh yes oh yes changing up the format for this one uh Raphael says hello J rob what's up man what's up Raph Sean Spencer of the TV show Psych says what's going on gentlemen it's your local Commander fan hey Sean Sean Spencer was a Rams fan I saw the show not falling for this Say by way he says is Daniel Jones the answer in New York that's if the question is who should not be starting next year the answer is Daniel Jones and definitely not this week he also says martinell totally exposed Washington's offense yes he did that's he says if Martel played Washington's o line every week he'd be coordinator of the year he still might be considering what he's doing there considering what he's doing opposite side of the ball as well like no offense whatsoever um Deb says all the talk about Caleb I've heard that he wants a piece of ownership with any team he signs with I do not see the Giants doing that have you heard anything about that I've heard I have heard that rumor I have but I hear that rumor but not from Caleb I've never Caleb say it I've never heard once any legitimate news source pick it up it's always like weird thirdparty you know you know bluesclues football.com kind of things like like nothing like you know nothing that's legit that you would go okay this is this is a great source this must have been said you know um so I wouldn't I wouldn't read that I think every year you get people who love to just take tear down these players keep in mind sometimes it's other NFL teams because if you have the second pick wouldn't you love the first overall picked guy to be not your guy I mean this is this is what happens in the NFL so you know how much trash was talked about CJ strad right before the draft touche apparently he was stupid couldn't read defenses and was a troublemaker or maybe Tibido Houston seems to like him oh Tibido the Giants Giants were the ones spreading the [ __ ] is talking trash about him H so yeah that's I wouldn't worry about that too much I think I think a lot of that's overblown overblown plus to the best of my knowledge and there's anybody who knows the financial parts of football more than I do feel free to correct me if I'm wrong he cannot have it in his contract to be a partial owner now the Giants could hypothetically sell him part of the franchise but it would then have to still go go through all the rest of the owners same as Tom Brady just had to to get part of the ownership of the Raiders so again guys read what you see what you read at that point go where's this coming from because there's a lot of stuff out there nowadays so uh D I think Cruz may have meant aable QB he may very well have but I think that in the end I said the warning was bad they could have said listen he deserves to pick the leader of the team deserv pick the face of the franchise that I would have said that so you know but again you can't sit there and say he deserves to get more of his guys in the offense when three quarters you know uh 60% of the offensive line um they drafted not draft but they yeah they did they drafted him yeah you know and all the wide receivers they also Pi Up Hugh you know what I mean though they picked they they got a whole bunch of guys in to be you know weapons for DJ this off season they gave DJ the money they gave sequan some money like you could say it wasn't but it is you know it is at that point he picked up a top five yeah tight in that honestly I'm not upset of Waller he is what he is I'm not I'm not we got a guy who's injury-prone who's not what he was a couple years ago and we fell for the BS and the media fell for that's what it pull us down to I think we F I think we fell for the I think we got fleeced as fans of thinking we were going to play better this year we got by the media who got fleeced by the team yeah if we would the circle of fleece and it it com off a sheep that you count to fall asleep that Wass

beautiful but I'm just saying like if you put Waller on this team last year he would have played way different than what has happened this year wouldn't have played at all he was hurt all year

sakumi um but yeah J J Daniels is one of those guys that easily could move up into the conversation of top 10 pick depending on what happens here keep mind we had a lot of college football still to go and one thing I love to look at with college quarterbacks that's part of why we haven't really done much research on these quarterbacks yet I like looking at what they do in blll games championship games where they're playing top and talent because when they're playing top talent is the best way to simulate what is going to be to play NFL Town yes I mean doesn't it's not 100% answer but it does give you the best opportunity of what the player can do in the NFL oh yeah because like if they're in a conference where they're playing scrubs eight of the games they have to play and they put up 400 yards in scrubs every time Grant it that the Panthers will hold a a defense uh a a quarterback like that to under 200 yards yeah I mean like I said it's the closest so you go ahead and do what you can you know you judge it based on what it

is so let's see Sean says yeah from what I've heard active players are an eligible to comp part owners or have any share of ownership word on the street was Rogers try to do that when he went to the Jets I heard that rumor as well again I didn't hear that from anyone that I would say is reputable though I didn't look too far into it because a jet thing but yeah I I heard that rumor as well I did hear that too Connor says should GM be decision on QB or coach I think head coach be great if both agree but Daniel hasn't worked out they supposedly did that together heard mea forced it there's all kinds of rumors about mea forcing it listen in the end we'll find out in a few years I don't I don't even care if mea forced it quote unquote because I'm telling you right now if I was a GM of an NFL team and I'm about to sign a contract that my entire career may go down the [ __ ] for you bet your ass that I'm going to publicly say this is a decision made by the ownership here we are to sign this document I would be that guy and and you're not wrong for saying that but at the same time you're coming off a great leadership year for ad Danny Jones a his second best because his rookie year was his best stat-wise but like he played the best last year the best you kind of are in a predicament like he the team rallied behind alien Jones last year and with a very bad offense they were able to win games so like you kind of are stuck but they won a lot of close games honestly if for being honest they won a lot of close games like one down the stretch three five and one down the stretch yeah but this is the first time we play game so like I know but I'm saying you can't sustain winning by one score cons consistently in the NFL teams are too close for that at that those scenarios you know and that's the problem we all fell for that Koolaid we all did we drank that kooli up it was it was a gruit punch flavor spectacular but they structured the deal pretty much for this reason of this year they they came together saying we're not going to guarantee him three years we're not going to guarantee him five years we're going to give him two years with an out technically didn't even guarantee him that according to over the cap like you said we can cut him post June 1st and no charge we gain nothing but we Lo lose nothing yeah so it's so they did this purposely because like he was a guy that got us to where we were last year and we're all on the DJ train well most of us were on the DJ train all righty Connor also says yes be a man burp loud part louder not sure that's part of Manliness but okay we'll go with it but my flashs don't you worry it's way louder alrighty let's go over to our new format so we were giving guys breakdowns overall on offense on defense and kind of final thoughts it said we thought it make it much more simple let Rob and I go back and forth with some keys to Victory ways the Giants could pull off such an upset because let's be honest we know nobody thinks too highly of the Giants including us so here are some ways that we could possibly win rob you can go first all right let's start off all right guys this is a little bit out there I know it but we have a really strong opportunity if the giant staff they go to the other sideline and they pour a gallon of Vaseline and every one of those water coolers where the Cowboys drink from Vaseline the vas sorry not Vaseline but Visine what's going on in the sidelines over there that might work too but the the Visine Vis like a little tummy ache gets the red out gets the players out of the game too yeah they'll be all in the locker room in no time which will take all the starters off which Maybe our third string quarterback has an opportunity to possibly throw the ball I you know I'd be a little concerned about the legal ramifications of such a move don't ask don't tell just me personally this is not the military and they're not gay did you ask questions I don't know so I think you know one way that we could possibly win is if the entire Dallas Cowboys defense gets Co and can't play it's true I mean they are athletes but it's do they have Co tests down in uh Texas I'm not sure um I'm sure they do the NFL is very strict and actually I can tell you for a

fact that I'm trying to think how much I can give away without giving away information I'm not supposed to have that that the NFL has sent warnings to players about going to things during the week that are not NFL sanctions

that uh might have a lot of people at it I won't give out particulars that I happen to know because I'm not supposed to noties I'm just saying there are there are rules There are rules I mean the another way they could also do it is if they call timeout soon as the game starts right away hit the pause button switch the game to rookie and they it's just like playing Madden they obviously like no one could pick off the ball they're not gonna able to throw the ball that well you know we'll have 17 touchdowns but in the first half it'll be it be glorious you know I have to wonder though could the Giants even win on rookie mode with this team it'd be hard but it is possible speaking of being hard another way that GI could win is if they pull an LT and send hookers and Coke to the Cowboys locker room to wear them out before the game oh damn you know because I had something similar to that of saying that we could send Jimmy garoo down to

Texas and have him hang out on a Saturday night with all the cow pukes for you Connor and it's the same scenario they're going to hang up bring to the Bunny Ranch yeah well I mean they'll be down Jimmy garoo will go down to Texas he'll find all the good spots we keep the Cowboys out to four five o'clock in the morning when it comes to one o'clock you know when they have to go play well it's a four o'clock game so that wouldn't be very good even better keep out o'cl keep them out at 8 o'clock in the morning you know yeah depends I they're young they're used to going out late at night and all that kind of stuff you know what we could do well listen depends on what they're doing at the club because it does not everyone is just sitting there enjoying the view drinks are involved some guys go um we'll say skiing whoa keep them up a little too late kind of party is this um you another way we could do um you know sneak in the win here is if if Tommy DeVito gets some Eli Man blood right into the vein just just just Eli's got to take more of the team to go like a little yeah what do you like just blood transfusion like just blood transfusion get get him a little Eli in them listen I donate blood on regular it's it's not that bad of a deal like you could take the plasma out of out of Eli put it right into Tom yeah and listen in no time he'd be the starter we don't even have to draft anyone if that's the case there we go here we go I mean we could also hire an eag Eagles fan to go in the locker room right before the Cowboys have to run out and they could tie the shoelaces of all the cleats together of all the Cowboys and they all go fall in the faces just smash themselves and then they can't even play the game the starters can't play the game and then we have to play the backups or we could win the oldfashioned way the Cowboys just play the D against the Cardinals but much worse much much worse they did lose to the Cardinals they did also barely squeaked out against the Cardinal so we still squeaked we still squeaked Oh They'll be squeaking no time squeak squeak squeak another thing going back to Jimmy GPO we could lace all the Cowboys mouth guards and a little bit of M or a lot of it Molly how is that going back to Jimmy garoo we're talking about doing drugs with in a Surf Club I'm just saying wowen all be feeling fine they won't be aggressive and the the Giants could just run all over a loose Happy Feeling Cowboys offense in defense you know another thing that we could do is you know keep in mind what's right beneath Texas oil no that's that's beneath under the below the ground I'm talking on the map oh send it to Mexico no I'm saying bring a little Mexico to them let's get some freshwat get a little Mont Zuma's Revenge o oh can't stop the run when you at the runs yeah would you like a freshh cup of golf of Mexico water probotics not golf of Mexico they salt one of they know the difference let extra runs don't you worry oh my gosh I mean another thing that I think is probably the most plausible that we do here is talk to NASCAR let's get a race going on all the fans and all the players they're they're in Texas they what do they do football Nar let them go watch the race bring a whole bunch of beers in the cooler because in NASCAR you could go to the stadium with your own beers oo and just let them go wild and by the time they get to the field it looks like Bad News Bears exactly there we go there we go so yeah guys obviously there a little tongue and cheek here but uh yeah we have no shot in Hell guys you know us we like to give you guys if we could win if we do this we could win if we can do that it's no shot my main thing is is the last time we fac the giant my last thing is the last time we fac the cowboys that the Giants week w we lost 40 to nothing folks that's goddamn embarrassing My Only Hope Health Team yes my only hope is that we show Improvement we do something like a 39 to nothing or or 45 to 10 something better I want to see some improvement um but yeah I mean if you want to get serious for a second the big thing really is I don't trust Tommy deito do a damn thing the only way and I'm not sure why Rob has my face why do you have my face Rob where's my that's a good it's a good question Drew face what's my face there face off my Nicholas Cage or my John trol um but yeah the only way we have what do you only way we have of winning potentially is if deito does more than we expect all of a sudden and the defense just goes nuts and stonewalls the hell out of the Cowboys which let's be honest the Cowboys haven't been the best offense throughout much of this year but that's that's our shot guys and it's a very small shot but they say Any Given Sunday for a reason you know how many times how many times you listen to Prime Time and Boomer's over there saying that's why they play the games like things happen guys do I expect it no would I be happy if it happened yeah I actually would even though I really want the the number one over draft pick it's the Cowboys I'd always wanted to beat the Cowboys it's nice it's like a lifelong goal we haven't done it in about five days decades at least it feels like that so say definitely I we definitely beat in the playoffs but yeah but what we'll beat them in the playoffs in what 07 right was the last yeah it's definitely not five decades ago I'm saying 07 still talking you're still talking a while ago um but regardless what I'm just getting at is that's the shot the defense has to be amazing and the offense has to do just enough and take it take you know control of the the you know opportunities that arise whether it's you know a good field position because of a a turnover you know a good punt return maybe gets him something at that point occasional big play to get him towards the field goal range at least but I don't see it happen I I'd love to be optimistic with you guys I really would I I want to be optimistic I don't like not being optimistic but it's where we're at guys it's where we're at and I'll tell you this if there there's one game that I am watching like a hawk it's going to be the one on tonight once we're done because the Panthers and the Bears somebody's got to win and if the Bears win they're up to three wins we're pull ahead of them and if the Panthers win they're tied with the pack and they're at two wins they've already had their B three I'm just saying so this it's a good game to watch here so so we're gonna we're g to get off not to watch but it's a good game for watch playing in 10 years like he hasn't he's probably still better than these guys Kaepernick was at least a legit like should have been probably a backup in this league Matt Barkley hasn't been in this league in three years and DeVito was supposed to be cut in Camp he's a practice squad rookie quarterback that's what he is uh devb says we will lose if they played the Dallas they put the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders into play we probably would they would probably yeah they probably definitely other place and yet we'd also win at the same time [Laughter] heyo uh Connor says Panthers seven Bears three so far yeah yep yep and like I said that's definitely a game to watch because it's going to have potential big-time draft implications keep in mind though that of course the Bears are screwing themselves and helping themselves at the same time because they own both picks
