[Music] welcome to two giant goofball a New York Giant podcast are you a goofball that loves Giant football if so sit back and relax as we talk about the team that both excite and frustrates us so much and now and now here are your goofball hosts Drew and Rob welcome Phillip goofballs to two giant goofballs a New York Giants podcast I am Drew joined as always bye let's talk about this issue oh let's talk about a tale of two halves yeah this is like uh you know Part of Me Goes God damn we won this game like freaking hellcian Part of Me Goes God damn [ __ ]

yeah we should all see the fair warning we're kind of excited we're kind of worked up there may be some time maybe some cussing there may be some person won't be as bad as last week at least but God damn yeah like what the [ __ ] I mean

what the [ __ ] I don't know whether to be excited or still pissed off about the first half I don't know I don't know listen no listen I'm so pissed off about the first half I'm I am glad the Giants played as well as he did the second half but God damn we should have smoked these guys yeah yeah and 20 nothing I I had Deja Vu like I was sitting there I know I don't I'm gonna say they were 20 or nothing 20 oh we're on Pace to do 40 oh again yeah I have time like oh Christ oh Christ oh Christ Jesus it's one thing it's one thing to get blown out by the Cowboys because they are a better team in the NFL it's a whole other thing to get blown out by the goddamn freaking Cardinals like yeah potentially the worst team of the whole freaking League hey

yeah they're rank 32 they're bad yeah no God but we had what 80 like 88 yards of offense in the first half I think somebody's that low I don't have that stat in front about it I want to say it was that low and we ended up I do have this stat in front of me 439 yards that's where we ended up on the day we scored 31 points in one half guys think about that we were talking last year how long are we talking about oh well are we ever gonna score 30 points again are we ever gonna score 30 points we just scored 31 points and a half think about that if this was a whole game be 62 points that's goddamn insane

I mean all right let's let's let's talk a little bit about the bad though before we get into the goods

that's a lot of bad calm your titties over there it's not a bad talk about anyway stop looking at my video

well like where's the pass rush that's one thing we got to talk about where is the pass rush on this defense because you know the first half of the of the of the game here and even in the beginning of the second half there this offense for the Cardinals did whatever the hell they wanted whatever they wanted they weren't punching the ball at all there was not a single punt until in the third quarter and it's like what the hell it's the Cardinals this team gave up a ton of sex to the commanders last week this team couldn't do a damn thing against the commanders last week this team couldn't even score one offensive touchdown against the commanders last week this team also got after our defense well our offense if you will hey man it's so terrible yeah it's just like I I just that's one thing that I I at least I'm excited to be one I'm goddamn excited everyone but it should have been 27 to 10. it shouldn't have been this most teams in this in this league would not let us come back 20 to nothing deficit there's no way in hell most teams let you do that no the Cardinals are just crap so like I said and you know Deb posting here is number five a bust I don't want to call him a bus yet because we're two weeks into the season I don't want to go there but he's definitely disappointed the first two weeks that's for God damn sure you know there hasn't been a single pass rush to speak of you know Dexter Lawrence um you know he got he got a QB hit obviously towards the end of the game there uh you know that was a nice you know a nice spot for him to get that but I don't see you know I don't see him necessarily being like he was last year so far at least again the first two games it's just two games guys you know I don't see anybody at all as far as you know I mean this letter Williams pop into the game you know there's no pass rush whatsoever with the Giants right now that's an issue two games in we still don't have a single um you know a single sack yeah on the game from Dexter Lawrence you got one from Micah McFadden that's it that's it you know it's like I said suddenly wouldn't have worried about in the long term there that's for sure if it doesn't get fixed so let's talk about the elephant in the room no we're gonna talk about the elephant in the room who was calling those places second half who was calling those plays DJ

because here here was table the second half like this talking like this nobody can see his face

calling the place because you didn't you didn't see that usually from him he doesn't do that typically and all of a sudden this offense took off that second half like it changed there was a whole lot more rollouts Pat there's a whole lot more play action there was a whole lot more deep throws you know guys were wide open all of a sudden and

he said I have to find out and obviously we're recording this literally the second that the game ends so it's like you know it's a little bit of a disadvantage that they're probably talking about it right press conference even you know but I gotta wonder is are they even gonna admit if he was calling the place because that's not a good look for your offensive coordinator to get thrown out of the play calling duties mid game but I'll tell you if he did do it fake freaking God that was the right move to make because that was a totally different offense it's second half totally different offense I mean once again also our offense has always been a different team in second half so yeah you can see Diablo took over the team but it's like our team last year second half we've always played better again supposedly bitters better but that's the key thing you said better we're talking yeah we turn [ __ ] to Gold that's what happened here we did we did like which what skin that goes beyond Alchemy that's like once again like this team is a [ __ ] team that we just be yeah and that's why I don't want to get too excited but at the same point it's got to be said that it's an amazing comeback but everything changed that second half and it just looks like again from what we can see and we're not in there in the headsets obviously like that but it looked like dabel was calling the plays that second half you know he was he's sitting there can't can't see what I'm saying can't see what I'm saying questions

he's usually sitting there chit chatting with the players getting everything rolling just letting letting Kafka do his thing you know it's it makes it sets up yeah Jeff says up there it is it's Castle in this guy yeah it looks down well keep in mind that was a dable thing too dable wanted his OC up there in the booth because they have a better View and it's the truth you do have a better view from up there of what's going on in the game than you could do from the sidelines that's just natural that's easy to see yeah um you know you have account literally the bird's eye view you're as high as a bird I see what she did there look high as a bird I'm like a bird I gotta fly away

but yeah I mean that that offense was just un freaking Unstoppable the second half here absolutely Unstoppable I mean it's just like talk about a change of pace than two hours ago we did a halftime show Rob and I be flipping out like you wouldn't believe oh it's ready now I was ready I was right I was sitting there after everyone know I saw that right now I was sitting there like this [Music] like we can't see you anymore you almost fell you almost fell Rob

no who is this you're doing the John Travolta I'm looking at John Travolta meme I feel like it's what you're doing I can't see your face I have no clue what you're doing yeah no no there's there's no me falling there's me

see now we can see your face Rob angry uh it's f hey I mean where's all the Jones haters I want to know that right now where are all the Jones haters because everybody wants to jump down this kid's throat the second that he did anything it's not 100 perfect it's his fault apparently the offensive line can't block it's his fault apparently the offensive coordinator is calling a crap game it's his fault wide receiver versus dropping the ball it's his fault saquon literally had a ball of Pop from his hands for the second week in a row and become an interception where's all those guys right now because what I see right now is I see Daniel Jones ending up the game right now 26 for 37 for 321 yards two touchdowns the one interception that shouldn't have been called interception I'm still saying those scenarios that should go against saquon Barkley not Daniel Jones sacked three times and 103.5 quarterback rating in this game he balled out that second half guys bald the hell out that's awesome he was also my fantastic quarterback so I think you doubled up you won doubled your win and I Berkeley as by the running back there you go there you go so let's go over real quick the stats here for the the receivers so you got Jalen Hyatt led the one of the receivers two only two catches but one of them was 58 yards guys a big bomb an absolute bomb that really got a lot of things going for us here so two catches 89 yards Darren Waller the man the myth the legend of the Beast himself here six catches 76 yards so yeah he was definitely out there all over the place there now what's crazy is look at those two guys eight catches between those two ten targets that's a pretty good percentage right there so Darius Slayton three catches 62 yards uh he was a little different he was targeted six times he he only had a 50 catch right there um Isaiah Hodgins four catches 40 yards and a touchdown saquon six catches 29 yards and a touchdown Paris Campbell four catches 21 yards and Shep had one catch for four yards but God damn guys this offense went off actually went off and with and it's the passing offense we should specify that it was the passing offense that went off it's a second half all you did I get I get it I get it the second half I'm the second yeah I'm just saying I'm just trying to berate the Jones haters you're a Jones lover you should like the factors

[Laughter] but yeah I mean the the passing offense just went off guys absolutely what the frick off uh Jones I am on the day was actually almost the rushing leader even nine rushes 59 yards the 6.6 average had the one touchdown that way as well Barkley 17 carries 63 yards so that's only a 3.7 yard average guys not too good there and one touchdown but God damn this game it's like I have such mixed feelings again I was so pissed off that first week so goddamn pissed off you know and now we got a game we turn around just you know four days from now we have to play again and there's a lot of injury concerns that there's out there uh Andrew Thomas didn't play today because in fact they hit that you know I honestly think the Giants decided to take him out of this game because they wanted him for Thursday that's my personal opinion because he showed up to the game I know he was out there on the field they're working yeah he was I think that I think they wanted him personally not to play this game and that way we knew he's good for Thursday which was a much tougher opponent um and then of course you got um you know Ben bredesen left the game uh and Mark Lewinsky who got benched we should talk about that Mark Lewinsky got benched for Marcus mckeithan uh at the Right Guard spot so yeah we talked about that a lot in the off season and some people said we're a little crazy but I thought Mark Lewinsky is either gonna be on a tight rope or might lose his job this year and he might have lost his job but it did come in because Ben bredesen hurt himself uh in the second half there so you're talking about a difference in the line you had Josh shazudu at left tackle you have Mark Lewinsky a left guard JMS where he should be obviously at center it's the one of the rarest people that were where they should be uh Marcus mckeith and I write guard and then Evan Neal at Ray tackle you know see when you have two of your five people and where you expected them to be to start the season so the offensive line is definitely banged up and but it just definitely did not play good at all that first half but in the second half they got it together and again you have to wonder is the play calling part of the issues was stable compensating for the fact that his offensive line looks like something left in a total pill people forget to flush um I mean you do call it offense based on that if you call what you got you're not going to do deep throws five step backs you know sitting there waiting for somebody to get open when you have a crap offensive line you're gonna do more quick throws you do slanting routes you're gonna do you know uh you know have a have a safety net there in case the pocket falls apart you're gonna do that kind of stuff and you saw a ton of that in that second half

become yeah big time so yeah guys who talked about I said Toyota roller coaster roller coaster roller coaster ride here I I was already at that halftime to come on here flip it out because using every single customer there is no demand and I still can't believe we did it you know that close to me that looked that good um you know we still have a couple of things that even after a win I'm gonna sit there and say like like Josh stop we that first half we made him look like freaking Patrick Mahomes yes yes yes and that uh I am so upset ah again sure Ray ah

there's no way there's no way we should have played Arizona that close no but ah

yeah we're staying that close Christ we put in there close yeah yeah and like I said a lot of us jobs we made dabs look really really good that first half there so Dobbs ended up the game 21 of 31 228 yards one touchdown but his first half it's like the guy didn't have a single Miss um you know yeah crap in the second half I literally put on

the Jersey the 69 69. the only number my dad had [Laughter] you know but we like I said he we made him look a lot worse that second half um he brought him back to Earth brought him back to where he should have been all along because I feel like after the first drive the Giants score a touchdown in the second half the the Cardinals easily score a touchdown again Giants come back score again and then all of a sudden the defense got it going and then all of a sudden it was a defensive we were expecting to have against this kind of team here because again this isn't a good team guys it's the Cardinals the fact that we squeaked out a win against the worst team potentially in the entire league it's upset yeah it's we should have blown this team out it's like I said it's scary it's it's really is um you know another thing we got to focus on with the defense here is we've talked about this all off season stopping the Run the Giants had trouble against up in the run I mean James Connor ends up with 23 carries 106 yards in a touchdown uh you know scrambled around three times for 41 yards you know they had a 5.2 yard carry average as a team that's not good guys that's that's really bad that's like way way way way way too hot like you you want to be like below four not over five

yeah we uh so I mean I guess the question is going to be is that a scheme thing is that a you know is it a talent thing I mean we brought these guys in to stop the run we brought in nacho we brought in uh you know uh asean we brought in uh Bobby o'cara okay we bring all these guys in specifically because we want to stop the run and the Giants said we were having issues stopping the Run we still can't do it we still can

so yeah it's like I said it makes this makes us think there all right let's get to the comments here so we got got Jeffrey Garcia senior and in relation to Jeff Garcia is this Jeff Garcia the quarterback he says what do you guys think made the change to flip the switch going into the third I really think it I think Gable took control of the offense and I think that's what it was I really do yeah yeah if you look at like really yeah I think he said true he went

let's do this let's do this yes he's hiding his face here he's hiding his face or something going on yes that's sure yes yes haven't seen the play yeah yeah like I said something going on there uh so he also says great performance in that second half stud football gotta keep it up during this crazy stretch uh conning up which will be coming up but I mean honestly the stretch coming up is not necessarily that crazy you got the 49ers next I think after that we have the Seahawks and the Dolphins remember correctly yeah so you know we don't have bad teams coming up don't get me wrong but it's not like those teams are unbeatable you definitely can't sit there and say that that's for sure I mean the 49ers definitely didn't look unbeatable today against the Rams they still beat them but the 49ers was they won 30 to 23 it wasn't like last week when they totally destroyed the Steelers so um we'll have to see what happens here with that uh Debs is no way we were talking about that number five being a bush that's what I thought Drew and that's I think remember right she said that when we were talking about Dave will calling the plays uh beef says I said that to someone at halftime the coaches need to start calling the coach needs to start calling the plays yeah he definitely did apparently we got a long one here from Tom Tom a Rodriguez senior says DJ he just showed all you nothings about football how is it how it's done give him a bit of perfection he lights it up P.S glad we didn't waste all that money on Shaquan Barkley I do think he is great but he's not worth the Bucks injury prone go get Adrian Peterson to fill the spot for the year he can block mofo and still can run a break one uh I think I think it's safe to say that Tom's been celebrating the game at that point uh yeah Barclay is not gonna get paid long term I still think that um I think DJ just again the offensive line was playing better guys were catching the ball and I don't think he played the best the first half either don't get me wrong you can't say that he gets all the blame about all the credit for good things and none of the blame for bad things but in the end he can't do it all himself he's not that guy I don't think anybody else thought he was that guy if he was that guy instead of getting 40 million a year he'd be getting 60 million dollars or 55 million or whatever the hell you know Joe burrow got and those guys um he's not that player uh Joe first thing you didn't pay that let's let's stop let's stop you'll get paid that eventually that's for sure uh Ben Cornett says Cardinals were like crap we're gonna we're up big in this game that would hurt our chances and it won't take care that that happened yeah uh it definitely leads Credence to the whole Cardinals tank into the season because they they just gave up even in that I was a little shocked myself and uh curious what you think in this Rob as well I was a little shocked that the Cardinals that last offensive Drive they had we're running the ball but you know she's saying this second to last because secondly the last one was them trying to get the you know even the ball back up again the second to last Drive they had the first actual last actual drive before it was just Hail Mary passes and stuff like that they ran the ball a bunch of times why would you run the ball a bunch of times when you're trying to keep this game going I mean if they had just gotten a couple of first downs they could have totally killed the clock instead of us killing the clock it's like they gave up

oh my skin they are tanking they're tanking

every part if we talk about like oh Arizona side taken yeah no that's definitely

it's definitely something going on there it's a little weird that that they didn't do that I I was kind of shocked by it they played it safe I guess in their mind they just trusted their defense to make the right move but you can't trust the defense to make the right move when they do this again 13. it's it's crazy it's absolutely crazy like they had a chance to potentially put that game away and they just didn't do it they just didn't do it so yeah um I said that that to me was kind of the biggest shocker there um see Brandon says if they play like they did in the second half they will be fine exactly listen if they play anything against the second half they'll be undefeated the rest of the way that's that's probably the best football they'll play all season long again part of it is against who they were playing because they weren't playing exactly the greatest you know talent in the world in the the Cardinals keep in mind their defense also is that without Buddha Baker as well this game too as well so probably their best defensive player gone for the whole game so yeah it's but it's an impressive win because of where they had to come from granted they put themselves in that bad scenario but it's still an impressive win overall anytime you can go ahead and come back from a 20 you know Point deficit and score 31 points and a half that's impressive that is so uh you know one thing I gotta say shock me a little bit as well in this game I'm kind of shocked that the Giants didn't go for on two after that last touchdown if you remember the second to last touchdown they lined up to go over two there was an offsides penalty called and they decided to hit the extra point instead I was a little shocked that they didn't go with the second last touchdown they did and go for the two again I'm glad they didn't don't get me wrong I mean it all would have worked out either way with based on how the game went the rest of the way but I'm just a little shocked that they didn't do that considering the fact that again they had the opportunity to potentially put the game with air in the lead right there that's a dable move table's ballsy like that we all know that I again I don't know if I agree with it because if you lose that now you're still down by one point but I'm kind of shocked I didn't do that was the biggest sack out there he does he does we've looked we did the research

but yeah like I said guys it's nice to to win it's nice to be you know on the board with a victory now especially after we were thinking we weren't going to get it um you know it's it's kind of a shocker considering how that game started off I mean again that's a bad a start as you get that's like that's that's it was really really bad like I could not I started off watching the game just upset I watch the game and yeah yeah that's that that's about the reaction to have there yeah yeah right yeah I'm not sure I don't know if you're here if you're meowing there or who'll be in here it could be yeah now yeah that meow but yeah it sounds like a meow that's all I know um so we except we got the Kia to keep an eye where things are going there one thing I'll tell you this so we do our picks our pick show next week I think Rob and I would be a little more disappointed the last week weren't quite as good in the picks I like I was kind of keeping track of that in the first one o'clock games kind of nice playing the four o'clock game so you can watch most of the games on Red Zone and everything instead of sitting there and watching the one game and missing out on the majority of the games of the day there are some some good games this week overall some really close games

to speak so guys we'll be back again for you guys uh you know on our somewhat normal schedule next week to give you guys a heads up where we're going to be here because things are going to be a little different here so Sunday yeah so Monday we're going to be going ahead and doing our recap of this week's game action for all the NFL Tuesday we're gonna be doing our pre-game show talking about the Giants 49ers game Wednesday we're gonna do our pick show for week three Thursday will be on after the game doing our post game show at that point so like I said guys follow yeah you're gonna about to get a whole lot of goofball action here because like I said we'll be on all the ball action five days in a row that'll be five days in a row guys so you guys are probably a little tired of being a Rob because I know we get tired okay
