NY Giants Wide Receivers 2022 Positional Breakdown w/ Guest Star Mace
Show Notes Transcript

Rob and Drew sit down with Giants enthusiast Mace to go over one of our weakest groups Wide Receivers. We had some step up at different times in the season like Darius Slayton Isaiah Hodgins and Richie James. The NY Giants had some huge disappointments in Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney who obviously was traded mid season to the Chiefs. We also had some contributions from David Sills and Marcus Johnson. As usual the New York Giants also had some key injuries at WR namely to Sterling Shepard and rookie Wan'Dale Robinson. Where do we go from here? Do the Giants sign a free agent? Does NYG draft one?

welcome fellow goofballs to Giant goofballs the New York Giants podcast I am Drew joined as always bye I meet a Rob let's get started talking let us guess let's just get some receivers how about that after last year God damn that's all it was a receiver yeah all that he wants is the damn receivers he's gone tomorrow girl

thank you so we're going to tell you your theme Here of getting you guys people that are more intelligent than us which trust me it sounds much more difficult than it is sounds initially trust me but we got another special guest here we have mace here joining the program and if you guys do not follow this guy on Twitter on Instagram you guys are missing out he is a uh described Giants Enthusiast I see here on his Twitter page and trust me that's a great that's a great verbage for this man like there are people that are even bigger than us that follow this guy because he just calls like it is he brings his truce he brings his knowledge with it and he was I thought was the perfect guy to bring in here to go ahead and talk about some wide receivers because I know he's pretty passionate about one specifically that I'm sure where to get into a little talk about here soon so I can do it today mace what's going on um it's an honor I appreciate you guys I'm thankful um yeah and you know I'm just a big Tom Giants fan I I try to call things I I see it I try to you know be objective and stuff like that so I'm just happy to be here hold on let me throw on my love oh there we go do you have a lawn gnome sir that's the key the lawn gnome is like no I ain't got one of those but you can send me the link I'll grab one this is like let's go traveling with me even it does it is a true traveling yeah he's looking cool with the beard he is he is I I like to have one myself there but every so often work makes me shave damn them their policies [Laughter] so usually we go over some Giant news but you guys but we've been blessed this week to have some great guest stars we have one just yesterday there and Tommy G obviously they're talking about some running backs there so we went over a lot of the stuff you guys that's going on this week the only news I do want to speak real quick of today before we get too much here into the uh you know the the wide receivers because we got tons of wide receivers talk about here is and ironically know Tommy's the one who actually got me to see this originally there are people literally posting hateful nasty things to the new agency that is covering Daniel Jones like literally posting on their offices nasty things like do not screw the Giants Daniel Jones needs to be grateful except our offer no bueno no bueno listen you guys go to the Jets go to the Jets we don't got a room for that kind of BS here man that's that's some Bush League stuff don't get mad at players for trying to get their money listen again I want them I want them to go into their job and say I would like the minimum that you're willing to pay me 100.

you know we gotta remember I'll go for it that's what I said when you walk in the job and you see the range it's like you can make we'll say one dollar to five dollars everyone's gonna ask for five dollars not the one dollar this doesn't sound a good job Rob I'm just saying I I didn't want to put any numbers out there for anyone I think I know why they're hiring probably perhaps they ever heard of this oh is it what is this Hyundai yeah oh you heard about that one right I just read that like 10 minutes ago I didn't even know about that Hyundai's getting out of the company that's making the Hyundais in Alabama because they found kids as young as 12 years old working the lines in America in America Alabama I thought you had to be 14 for working papers in all fairness at least when I was 14 you got working papers in all fairness it's Alabama so it's really barely America at this moment the scary thing is you know no lie we'll get into football here basically give you a fair warning we get sidetracked very easily I need around or something man I need I need it bad but yeah so they had they had they had people from the U.N actually visit Alabama one time and they said Point Blank that if it wasn't for the rest of this country it'd be considered a third world nation oh my God that's bad like legit that was a report from the UN that's bad [Laughter] I mean you got more listen I've been in Alabama plenty of times I liked it personally but I didn't have to live there hey my grandparents used to live in Birmingham so I used to go out there occasionally so but you know yeah didn't get to visit much of the state there my parents live in Alabama my my uh I spent some time in Huntsville so I've been all around that state I don't know but like I said that's pretty that's pretty damning statement so let's get into the wide receivers because much like Alabama we were also a third of our country when it comes to wide receivers because oh my God I like I like how you want that in there right see that uh I'm pretty sure some several Nations could have gave us some better wide receivers seriously like oh my God like so let's kind of go over I want to kind of do a rundown of everybody we had this year and kind of our quick thoughts on them there but obviously wide receiver a lot a lot of people so we're gonna go with a lightning round with this one here mace You Are The Guest so you'll start I'll just name a receiver give me give me a quick synopsis in your thoughts Rob Hugo then I'll go we'll keep on going down the line here until either someone gets bored and tells us to shut up or we find we're headed receivers one of the two is going to happen let's do it so we're going to start by yards for the season so obviously we got to start with Darius slayden himself there the man the myth the legend there we go I got I got I got my favorite guy um second favorite I knew better yeah

the other guy's not here uh here you know Slayton I got a lot of love with first Layton um I think he's an asset to this team uh you know vertical threat the only vertical threat that I believe we have on the perimeter which is important in today's um NFL he he led us and once again in um in yards receiving yards stepping up um you know the the thing with with Slayton is you know he's a free agent now and I personally I would like him back because I feel like if we get rid of him it just creates another hole he is replaceable though you know what I mean I don't think um he's he's that much of a unicorn or that much of an alpha but you know he's been a receiver one surprisingly and it's it's interesting about Slayton because I think the first four games five games they weren't you know heavily involved with him they they played David Fields over him you know what I mean

they were forced to use Leighton so I I don't know how they value him um I think you know I would love to see him just in the receiver three role you know what I mean as a two just you know that that gave Davis role like you know and not be that that that option but uh I got a lot of love for Slayton um yeah he takes the top off he's not you know the best route Runner but you know the NFL is a thing for Speed I don't know what it is so I'm pretty sure he can go find another team I'm pretty sure feel the need yeah yeah

too and um yeah yeah you know that's that's slating right there man yeah what's your thoughts Rob listen if he was on any other team on the NFL this past season he would have been in that number three or number four that being said he was an asset he also averaged over 15 yards per catch for the season and he also was not a valuable asset in the first quarter of our season we did not utilize them because our coaching staff looked at him and saw that he dropped balls gross but

but I mean that's what he's done through his career like he like he could make some great plays and then he could also drop the ball he could definitely lose a game for you he doesn't love him or hate him kind of a player yeah he played a play yeah he could also win the game for you with some of these great plays that he does so he's our number one receiver that anywhere else would have been number three or number four I would like to see him come back and be our number three or number four yep no I'm with you on that and and I think the big thing is is again the guy didn't play for the first quarter of the of the Season basically and still had 700 yards in the season you know basically had to force force his way on to the field because nobody else was available I mean this guy deserves like the perseverance award coming back from like being like basically told you go sit down over there and you don't come on this field no matter what to please be your number one like like can you like that's that's like a career trajectory not a season trajectory for most people like say what the hell so like Shepard ACL snap you get traded but here's the thing here's the thing with slayden and I want Slayton back we've talked about this before I I I said before the season even went there our biggest issue is we we count on Slayton for more than what we should we put that weight on him and then we get upset when he can't bear the load the guy was a fifth round pick if you told me right this year right now we're gonna draft a guy in the fifth round he's gonna get 700 yards this season on a consistent basis I'll take it done this is probably the best value pick that David gettleman as much as we hate to say his name ever made ever him in love hands down exactly so here's the issue I have is we're strapped we're strapped for cash there's not a lot of receivers out there someone's gonna overpay Satan I'm telling you that right now someone is going to overpay him and he will be gone you can't be mad you can't no again I'm not I'm not picketing his agent's office or anything crazy I'm just saying like this is a guy who someone's gonna pay and I don't think they're gonna pay him 20 million a year like I'm not saying but if someone's gonna probably pay him eight to ten million dollars I think and he's not worth it yeah he's gonna get 10 somewhere 9 out of 10. he's he like you said he's a third or fourth receiver we don't have the money to pay that we don't so yeah that that that's my thing we'll be in Vegas I think another team is just going to Value him more he can step in somewhere and be a receiver three somewhere you know you know where I think he's gonna go actually after right now let's see if I'm right on this I think he replaces DJ shark and goes to the Lions oh I would say I was thinking either Vegas I was gonna say either Vegas or to the Saints I think it's kind of cool to get a quarterback for sort of the Saints we'll worry about that later for them so we got something to throw the ball don't matter who you got the back they're dropping it I mean catching it Derek Derek Carr is gonna it's gonna be on one of those teams not Vegas he's already Vegas no he's he's I think he's gonna be a jet still we'll see about that there so next up we got another surprise if you could tell with me the start of the Year our top receivers we're gonna be Darius slayden and Richie James Richie Chiefs Richie oh my God

thanks talk to us Richie James the guy that half the fans didn't even know his name going into the season here you know what Richie you know Richie gets he gets a passing grade from me too you know because he was what seventh round uh seven round pick with with the nine Cisco back in the day buried on depth charts and you know he came here and he he was serviceable uh seen his thought the other day that he was 12th in separation uh he made a lot of plays he made some ding dong plays too with the uh you know the two fumbles bring up Seattle don't break up yeah

we're the giant fans after that game saying cut him cut him I remember that they're like cut him cut him like we can't cut any receiver we can't even cut David's Sills we're gonna cut this guy

but yeah he's he's you know he he's he he really was the the safety blanket you know what I mean the you know after that first read was there you know the check down guy um it seemed like one read if that guy wasn't there you know see where uh James was at um and you know to he was buried on the depth chart too you know what I mean I don't think initially he was uh supposed to be what he was either I think yeah effort was over him um Waddell was definitely over him Tony was Tony yeah so yeah he was supposed to be a white five yeah why four Wi-Fi and he did play in the beginning at least he was the Y I think it was the leading uh uh guy the first like four weeks actually yeah you know he didn't even see that five yeah yeah

yeah yeah Richie Richie's an interesting piece and I I wouldn't I wouldn't mind bringing him back as depth I don't I don't want him as a starter but it's it's good to just have a guy you know what I mean when guys go down you know who's familiar with the offense competent you know that can be serviceable when you know and you just don't drop off a complete Planet you know um so Richie you know he was all right you know what I mean um and I I I like him you know what I mean besides those little couple ding dong plays um I think he you know he was an asset he was uh you know Daniel Jones second best receiver uh in this core I think second or third and you know that was a security blanket it came up big against Washington real big you know what I mean he had a nice throw against the Vikings down the sideline he he he flashed some potential so uh I don't I doesn't think uh it hurts to bring him back especially if they can get that at the right number yeah yeah uh I I agree 100 with that like I would like to see him in depth I like seeing him like a wide four wide five maybe just as a backup kind of guy you know bring him up from the practice bring him back down he knows the offense he knows yeah pretty much everything about the Giants and he's also Daniel Jones like security blanket at the beginning of the year so as he was trying to figure out the offense as every giant was trying to figure out the offense he was a guy making plays like let's be real like this Giants team has been through so many coaching staffs in the past five years that no one knows what this offense is

is it a passing it just depends on how bad the secondary is that week I guess yeah yeah I mean it changes from week to week but like Richie James like you said he muffed a couple of plays and it was it was the same game in the same game but so I sat here he didn't really make that many mistakes no so like to say like hey caught him after the one game because he left two balls like it it was pretty bad but at the end of the day like he won US games yeah so I would like to see him back after the minimum price that could bring him back because I don't think he's worth anything more than the minimum see I think I like I write Richie I think he's going to be a giant next year I think they'll get him because of the familiarity and they want to have one guy at least that they can trust besides you know Hodgins will get to him in a moment there that has some rapport with Jones from this year in this offense here I don't think he's gonna cost a lot of money I still think he's gonna cost probably three four million I think it's gonna still cost a little bit there but I think he's gonna be cheap enough to bring back and not hurt the overall plan for the year obviously depending what happened with the two big ones there with the Jones and Barkley there but yeah I mean good solid receiver a good bench piece and a guy that I'd like to have back overall because you also keep in mind the thing that I think a lot of people think look at fans wise there but I didn't hear one negative thing about him in the locker room either which is one thing I look at when I go do I want to bring someone back like was there any stories was there any Rumblings of any issues with him I never heard a single one with him just a solid guy showed up each week how to do what he had to do and he also took the crap after the after the puns too the big story was that he dropped the punts but no one ever talked by the fact this man took it in stride from the media never never caused an issue never flipped out New York is not for everybody let's be honest not everybody can handle the media attention that comes with New York he handled it with Grace the guy deserves kudos for that I never heard anybody give it to him including myself until just now so you know we got to give it to him for that and I think like I said I think he's a guy who can keep around here for a couple years at least so yeah on to the the real surprise and we've already talked about two surprises but where did this man even come from it was like week 11 we're still trying to figure out how to spell the name Isaiah Isaiah

God knocked on the door and was like you guys are just struggling here you go here you go exactly exactly I mean the guy that like Point Blank embarrassed Patrick Peterson at times and against the Vikings here both games I mean you know both games about 100 yards right yeah that's what I'm saying like when you when you're they're ticking off Patrick Peterson a guy who's going to go into the Hall of Fame I granted he's about as old as Brady is now but still it doesn't matter he's so he's still here he's still pretty damn good yeah he's still he's still [ __ ] better than the guy that just got cut from the bills and walked onto our team and somehow managed to do something here basically yeah and so mace why don't you talk a little bit because I said this is probably this is like one of those guys that I feel like could be like our version of like a Kurt Warner kind of guy that pops up out of nowhere and becomes like the lore of the the franchise so to speak like almost kind of like Victor Cruz when we got him out of the you know the free agency you know pool post drafted a couple years ago as well came out of nowhere absolutely and just produces yeah yeah Hodges was good see you later babe uh Hodges was good you know he he had a big big big game he flashed a lot of potential against Minnesota and I I I want to see him back um you know big body guy uh he he's he works really good at the stem um you know he's a decent route Runner I want to say he's you know he's the best route right now let's say he's the most fastest guy and and and it's it's I've been thinking about this guy's ceiling like I've just been trying to carve out what what is he is he a two is he a three um and I really don't know and I like that fact of of unknown with him you know what I mean um you know so he you know he he he has he has some good potential he showed us some good flashes he's young we already got him back he's cheap you know what I mean um so it's it's nothing but for him to build I think with another year in the system um you know he can show you know what he can do you know so he you know he had a little buzz coming out of 2020 draft uh there was a few people that you know I remember hearing his name and and um it's good it's good you know so I'm I think he's gonna probably be our two to three next year and um yeah I'm just I'm just ready for it man if we can get some more games like that Minnesota game from him I think a lot of fans will be happy and he did that with a with a bummed up Ankle you know he posted pictures his ankles like that thing was fruit that looked photoshopped at first yeah he photoshopped the first I was like oh God how to read his foot swallow a tennis ball yeah he he gives that possession um that possession receiver that you know that you need down the line you know that third down guy yep hopefully that can be him I hope he's here for a long time man yeah no he's I I'm with you on that one I think he's I think he's got a long career with the Giants I really do yeah 150 he does I mean like you said we picked him out of nowhere and he was the safety blanket at the second half of the career for um for Danny Jones like he like no one was open this not the fastest runner big body dude was just catching the balls passing off Corners everywhere he went like there's no doubt like he needs to be a giant again next year well he is which is which is why which is why he is back back again Isaiah's best girlfriend Isaiah is back doesn't quite have the same ring too it is

no I mean I mean like you said minnesotans this is a 105 yard game right and he shows potential every time he catches the ball like half half time as a giant he averaged over 10 yards per catch that's what she wanted a receiver that's the first sound every time you catch yep yeah so yeah that's how you move the ball that's how you move the chains he's got some versatility to him too you know he's not just an ex he's not just a y he he took it you know he took a lot of uh plays out the slot last year too you know he had a couple big plays against the Vikings and when you got a guy like that they're just always gonna find a role you know and that's what you need if you need you know versatile group of guys not you know like a Gallade who's just this is what I am this is the only thing I can do for everything yeah and you know he kind of reminds me of I'm gonna age myself a little bit here and people like oh my God this guy's old and yes I am Chris Callaway he reminds me of Chris Callaway like the guy that should go there to go he doesn't do anything amazing he just does everything decent you know what I'm saying like the guy that you know you can count on for the big catch the guy that's never gonna have this crazy 12 1300 yard season but a guy you know you can probably get seven eight hundred yards out of in in a pitch that's what he reminds me of I mean what do you have last uh the half season with the Giants but he was 700 yards he had no he had 351 yards so if he had the full season he would have done about 700 yards or so but he even get a full half season with this he got like a third of the season with us way Barney Kids I got more yards than Kenny gal a day and that was just running the car from the driveway at halftime

so yeah I mean like I said Amazing Story there so we got our first guy that was supposed to be potentially amazing here for the Giants that disappear from injury basically had the one great game against the Lions there it looked like he was finally to break out and instead his ACL breaks out like most of our players six six Euro players yeah the MetLife curse strikes again that Turf monster wins every single battle Juan Dale Robinson who like I said didn't do much the first couple games had the injury there from week one even and then just sort of show what he can do and then all of a sudden and like I said this is the guy who destroy the SEC dest destroy the SEC like people don't even realize how good he was that year and he was the whole offense there yeah it wasn't like Kentucky was this amazing offense no yeah he he was he was a killer he was a killer in college I I I I had a lot of posts about wandel um very early on um I was just like yo this dude is twitched up and I was just like could you picture him and Tony um together and boom it you know it happened and one Dale man I it was really unfortunate because I think we really needed him down the stretch um good athlete very Twitchy uh fast uh you know he seemed like he was just getting his feet wet just you know getting get in the ground with that Detroit game he's the only what only guy who had 100 yards in the regular season

that may have had it would be either Hodgins or against the Vikings or perhaps slate in one of those games he had a huge catch on yeah uh yeah but he you know he he fits what I believe is is is the the skill set that table and Kafka they like you know I think they I think they don't you know they're not when you look at oh uh when you look at Kansas City and you look at you know Buffalo I think they just into those you know smaller guys uh you know twitched up Yak guys three level you know separators and and and that that's what wandel is you know I wonder you know how he he's gonna return from the ACL you know because that's a that's a big that's a big injury and stuff like that so if um if I'm the Giants I'm still trying to attack that slot position um I'm not gonna allow wandel to to stop me from drafting anybody because you know ACLS are unpredictable sometimes and the year you come back is not really the year I feel like the two years later after that the two years after so um I think he he should have a bright future future you know what I mean I think he should be good um and yeah yeah just just can't wait to see him get back on the field and and get back healthy man because he you know he looked like he was going to be something you know and we missed him down that stretch you know because if if we can get Richie James you know a six-round pick to do what he did I'm pretty sure we could have got wandel to do even better with the schemes that we had

yeah I agree with you 100 like he heard his ACL November 20th so ACL especially with these athletes like at his age they recover faster so like I'm he should be healthy for next year I don't know if he's going to be 100 healthy for week one but with his age and his athleticism like he should be um and like you said that first year back you're going to play like you just came off an injury and that's because he just came off of major injury but he averaged over half his games over 10 yards to catch so at out of a rookie that didn't see that much fall time if you will that's awesome except for the lines before he had his 100 yards and I was what when he tore his ACL was in the third quarter yeah right yeah yeah so he was on Pace to get like 125 130 yards that game so I want to see this guy succeed I love to see him come back and run with this offense because just like they said like this is what our coaching staff likes of a player this fast Twitchy guy that goes down the field

yeah I think what's going to happen is the guy we're going to talk about in a minute here assuming he comes back uh I think you'll see wandell kind of towards the middle of the season and start getting back in he'll probably play earlier than that but he probably won't really be himself till the middle to the end of the season there so you know as giant fans watch him we got to remember the injury as May salute too it takes a little while to get back from that injury uh let's see what he is there because honestly I think the ceiling for this guy is Jillian Edelman that's what I legit see that in this guy yeah I think I think he's got that kind of talent if he can stay healthy if he because it's not just this injury it's also his size there's concerning that's concerning I have pairs of boots that weigh more than this guy does so it's like I gotta be careful like because you have like a size 15. yeah I know it's it's a seven foot the six foot seven syndrome there it's the size 14 shoe not that's 17 14 damn it listen you don't know the pains that have in a size 14 shoe pretty much all I get are Chuck Taylor's and Timberlands that's what every single store Chuck Taylor's and Timberlands as if that's all tall people like to like go ahead and put the feet into um but you know I I think I want you to see is you're going to see Shepard come back next year and I think he's going to come back in the beginning of the year he's going to be the slot receiver base like he should be I think he'll get injured again because that's what Shep does I hate to say it I got to be realistic of people here this is what Chef does he comes back he gets injured he comes back he gets injured three years now yeah I mean yeah so he'll come back he'll probably get injured so probably the last year we see him but I do think he'll come back because he just he just loves the team wants to be a giant and I think there's a little wink wink and a nod nod that he's going to be somewhere in the organization when he retires I do think that so he's not going to go anywhere else he's going to take the offer they give him a minimum deal he'll come back know he's going to have a job for life because how many times you see guys like a Charles Way classic example how many times he watched in the game and also the sideline there's like hey this guy who used to play for us 10 years ago yeah like has some like BS title of like Pro Scout director of chalkboards or something like they just give him a random job to keep him within the organization like you know be him yeah I mean that's what they'll do I mean this is what the giant students organization that's why when he will say once a giant always a giant players respect the Giants for that kind of stuff and uh you know uh Shep's one of those guys going to be in that kind of role so he'll come back he'll play you know to answer one of the questions we got here in the comments section from Jackie here he'll come back he will play but he will probably be gone probably by mid-season right around the time that wandell starts ramping up and you'll kind of get between the two of them you'll get a good slot receiver for the season basically

OtterBox come by I see you guys the most I see you guys the motors are working and the brain's like he's kind of right but I don't want to say it yeah I don't want to wish injury on them I don't either so I never wish upon it listen I wish nothing but the greatest for every single giant but especially for Shep because we all have I think so much respect for what the guy overcomes each season come back from the injuries the concussions all the things he's had over the years it's a pattern yeah you're calling this beta Spade I got a soft spot for shut but he's he he's been injured the last three years three four years you know he always comes out on fire man like he came out this year and I was like dog looks good that catching Tennessee they're catching Tennessee man tell me about it that's talking about coming out the gate yeah his presence you know he may have been the biggest Miss for me down the stretch like you know him and him and Jones just have this connection um he he's a true security blanket too I'm very you know good possession receiver and you know chef except this is Chef he's energy you know what I mean once the giant always a giant I I really feel like that is just shut up he's embraced it you know good locker room guy I don't feel like there's nobody on this staff that deserved to plan that playoff game more than Chef you know he's been he's there since 2016. as long as he doesn't renew his membership to the boat club yeah [Laughter] I think he would have came up big though man shuffles you know Shepherd Chef you know he always does you know what the crazy thing is Chef sometimes too like he'll have a quieter game and then all of a sudden he'll just get the most important catch of the game he's that guy he's clutch that guy's got clutch Gene like all over him like that he and that he and like I always said he is the perfect Robin as far as wide receivers go he's not your Batman he'll never be your Batman but you could not ask for a better Robin yeah that's that's that's uh that's Chef right there man I think he had almost like the other year he almost had like a 80 or 75 catch rate man which is just like ridiculous man ridiculous man so I I I I'll I'll think about it at that minimum nothing more than that yeah I mean and I'm not circling him as a one I'm not circling him as a two I'm not circling him as a three or four you know I'll let him come in and and compete you know just to have another body and and if he you know excels to the top then he does yeah I'll just use him as a booster though you know I wouldn't um Bank future plans around him but you know I would give him that courtesy to you know to see if he wants to play football and that's what he said he does he wants to you know go at it again but the injuries are a big big red flag so I he wouldn't once again he's another guy that he's not stopping me from drafting anybody but if he you know if he wants to come here and compete and he doesn't mind taking up that minimum then it doesn't really hurt you but I can't I can't pay you know we can't we can't we can't afford right now yep yeah so I mean Drew and I have talked about Jeff a few times already and I agree with you like I think he's going to take the the veterinary room because he already said he'll take a pay cut because he wants to be a giant so I think before he was at last year yeah well I'm just saying like like I'll take the minimum less opportunity to be newer yeah well I mean I'm 25 again guys

he already said like he he wants to be a giant he doesn't need to get paid off and then like like you said Drew like wink wink nah nod he'd be on our coach staff or he'll do something for the Giants because in all fairness I just wanted to say Wing quick not not it sounds cool [Laughter] but yeah he he'll take it and like mace like he said he's an asset not just on the field but off the fields because like after he tore his ACL you never saw him not on the sideline he was nope out there every game coaching up Isaiah he was coaching up Richie James he was sitting there with every guy saying hey you did this think about something like that or like you just saw him just getting into these young guys heads and just saying like hey why don't you do this why don't you do that Granite like was on TV and they weren't miked up but you saw him talking to all these guys I would have loved to see him liked up yeah me too I'd love to see that giant social media where were you on that one come on drop the ball yeah you dropped the ball you you pulled it [Laughter] I think I think they got some mic'd up on uh giants.com did they have it alone and I missed it they didn't push it out enough that sort of boils down to them yeah it's still their fault messed up I'm not taking the blame here I'm not taking the blame I don't take the blame at work I don't take the blame at home I'm not taking the blame here either damn it [Laughter] so we got three more wide receivers that we could talk about but I I'll leave it up to you guys here I'm gonna gotta just bundle these three up and say uh David Sills Johnson galaday bye-bye so long sayonara don't need to see you guys ever again uh thank you for your contributions I'm with you goodbye to all those guys uh is an unfortunate situation I could touch on that a little go for it go for it you know paid to be the guy couldn't be the guy just lost the step um he had a good you know good block I'm happy he got one touchdown at least he can say yeah one touchdown I'm more happy for the guy who threw it to him but okay yeah me too that man is going to be coaching Russell Wilson now good luck throw you know what the scary thing is is he's gonna have to coach Russell Wilson and that's not the most difficult thing he'll accomplish this year getting Kenny gal will take a touchdown pass just the most difficult thing he accomplished this year [Laughter] absolutely man

he's gone he's getting cut yeah it's it's not even a matter of if it's a matter of when yeah and and I'd love to almost find a way to do it post June first to get that extra money but I don't think we're gonna do it I think I I you know you guys know in NFL circles that's considered like a slap in the face to do it that way because he slapped Us in the face for the past few years but you know what though here's the thing though you could say that because these drop balls people have questioned his work ethic when it comes to running routes and all but if you look at him in the Pat in the running plays the guy blocked his butt off absolutely that's not a guy who quit that's a guy I'm with Mason that and I was the beginning of the whole you know Season I'm kind of what the hell this guy's not putting in effort I honestly I kind of turned around during the season to a certain degree and said he's putting in effort he just doesn't have the ability anymore that injury to Zapped it it really did you know we talked before before we started recording here he was a guy who counted on his strength his ability to jump and go get the ball he never really counted on separation never was very good at separation so it's a good thing he never counted on a so when you're a guy that doesn't count on it because you don't got it and you lose that half step even you can't get any separation there no you're done you're done you're done it's just frustrating he's getting separation in some games and you saw him just flat out drop the ball like they could have put if he wasn't used to catch it anymore they could have literally put Velcro on his jersey tied his hands behind his back he would have better chance of catching the goddamn ball

just running around like hey guys

yeah I don't I don't think they're that you know his style just fits the offense I don't think they believe that's what they what they want to do you know I don't think yeah he's got that 50 50 ball we just we just couldn't afford to play that type of offense no no that that comes with stuff too you know Taking Chances down the field you know taking bombs you know 50 50 balls that comes with turnovers too and uh we we had to play you know clean football I don't think that's just what they want to do and Kansas City doesn't have that archetype over there really I don't think the bills do so no one does that that's kind of an old school way of playing the game now yeah even was when he was doing it he was just doing it well so nobody stopped him I must be honest it's like if you can do something well I don't care if it's an outdated thing if it's working you keep doing it if it ain't broke don't 100. but now it broke yeah complete bro

someone's gonna take a shot at him because of the name because of the past and I'm gonna call it right now he's gonna get a minimum deal somewhere and he's not even gonna make it out of camp I mean it's truthful he's let's be honest if we had anything decent receiver wise and he wasn't going to cost us money last year to cut the way he was playing what he was seeing the whole season it would have been gone could have gone yeah someone's gonna sign him hoping they can fix him or being cocky enough to think they definitely can fix him and he's going to be cut before training camps up it's gonna happen he'll be he'll be on the uh you know the the Kenny G podcast there at that point they're starting that up and people listen think he's gonna play some smooth smooth jazz flute and no instead he's going to go ahead and he's going to talk football they'll be very disappointed like where's that guy with the weird hair yeah but yeah so let's get into how we can fix it here because I'll tell you this giant fans the way to how to fix this is not signing guys like Kenny galliday because yeah you don't fix it by throwing money at things you don't go oh no here's the best receiver throw them a ton of money whether he fits the offense or not whether there's a bidding war or not because they said when he signed him Chicago wanted him Baltimore wanted him I didn't hear a damn team besides the Giants actually talk money with this guy we outbid ourselves for no apparent reason be smart so and Joe Shane will really so the backtrack real fast though okay because you kind of lumped in Johnson's uh together I think Stills comes back on the practice squad do you I do I think the moments I think they did they I think I think he comes back in the practice how many years if they've cut him they brought him back they've cut him they brought him back I don't think it's on the roster technically for the end of the year but it's just like he's I think he's done like he's been how many years on the practice squad he's a practice you know what you got you know what you got like how much money you go through like so we're talking about like we're about to segue into like how you fix it by not throwing money at it yeah well guess what if you're not throwing money at it like you have to have a backup and you know what you got you're absolutely right okay but you're also not throwing money at it here's here's where I'll say that so we got let's let's go over what we got coming back then because that's part of the what how do we fix this segment too yeah so you got Wando coming back obviously that's already done he's on the rookie deal Hodgins is coming back already done we already signed him for the seat for the season there um you got the rumors as far as you know we talked about there with bringing back Richie James and bring it back Shep but none of that's final yet we really got two receivers on the roster so let's say we bring back Shep at the minimum I think we all agree that's going to happen right you know what can I can we can I say that as a safe statement there all three of us agree yeah probably coming back in some way shape or form Ally probably so yeah let's so you're up to three now you got two more spots that need to get filled you draft one you sign one you're up to five you get a couple of undrafted rookie free agents a couple of practice squad guys like that and you're done you don't need sales we know what Sills is he's had plenty of time brought him back on a they did he'll be a cancer future like that's what I'm saying like so my thing is too is right so you're going to sign a guy for a practice squad that you don't know what you have compared to what you know what you have so there's kind of a little bit of a safety blanket in there here's yeah so let me ask you this let me ask you this you put both your hands out okay you close your eyes okay [Applause] someone says okay here I put this turd in your hand you can either leave this turd in your hand or you can take whatever I may give you in the other hand you're gonna take whatever let's be honest and call seals what he is he's not a good player

[Music]

he's just there for the free beer on the parties that's all he's there for okay like he's like he's that background guy you invite to the party to make the room look more full than it actually is he doesn't actually provide any entertainment any conversation value he's just kind of there to fill the room that's what he is call it what it is so I'm with you but you know we also we got Colin Johnson we almost forgot about him too don't forget Colin Johnson also another ACL guy of our our league of ACL Warriors here [Laughter] so you know we got some receivers it's not we have nobody we just don't have anybody that we know we can count on to be a legit number one number two guy we just don't die yeah yeah so no one to depend on I'm gonna I'm gonna go right at the elephant in the room here because I know mace is gonna go here anyway even though I've alluded to a couple of times myself because I like I said we're gonna disagree with me so I know off the bat on this and that's probably like I said I wanted to have Mom here mace is a big obj fan I know it and there was all this talk last year about obj uh you know obviously before the plane incident that I'll tell you point blank I think was way overblown out of what it was because you know you only see him getting kicked off the plane you didn't see what led up to the kicked off the plane that's a big part of that story that no one's gonna see because there wasn't cameras around yet for that um but I'm still confused by the lack of pants that's the difference

listen I like to take them off too okay PSA p is the PSA for all you fellow goofballs keep your pants down to the plane keep your pants on it's not it's not a very difficult request wear the pants don't just wear the pants to the family wear them in the plane okay

but what the hell that was about here's the problem I run into with obj besides the fact that I still hold a grudge over some of the comments he made up at Eli even though even Eli doesn't hold the grudge I just Eli holds a special place in my heart there's two giants who just never talk trash about and that's LT and that's Eli and he he definitely talks some trash about him in a very public way when he was still playing with on top of that which is just like you don't do that but you know I can get around the whole you know getting at a fight and losing with the kicking net though seriously I wish we had a time to place bets on that because nobody bet the kicking net to win without kicking that one but I can get around you know the the pictures in the hotel where people already got drugs with him and stuff like that listen they're they're guys in their 20s that are rich half of them are freaking doing coke and dope and I'll leave them alone as long as you're not hurting anybody who cares who didn't do stupid crap in their 20s we forget sometimes because we grow up like like we spend so much time like watching these guys and following their lives and they're big guys to kids yeah there's a lot of a lot of money they're they're they're yeah they're 20 24 25 year old like you know it's stupid stuff I did at 24 25. yeah I did not make anywhere near a million dollars yeah like if you give me money you give me money and the stupidity I had back then dude that's a dangerous combo yeah that's that's a dangerous combo as Frankie Curtis comes up saying I don't know why he says you suck at shuffleboard just saying that's the most random comment breaking but yes you're not wrong I probably do suck a shuffleboard because I've never played the game before I live in Florida but I'm not an old person living in Florida [Music] league so Frankie step back oh oh here we go here we go uh Mike the bear fan obj I don't think he'll be a good fit for the Giants I believe it would be just like the gala day didn't do much at all in my opinion or even an Allen Robinson better off with anyone else so that kind of brings me to my point that I I I was kind of dragging along here since obj left uh he just hasn't done much he's got besides getting injured I mean let's call it what it is I mean people thought he did really good with the Rams and don't get me wrong he did good in the in the postseason and that Super Bowl that half the first half before he got injured he was like the old obj for the half he was let's call what it is absolutely but he only had what in the half year he was there he did uh what 350 yards yeah or something like that it wasn't and he was going against their quarterback twos it wasn't like he was a top guy obviously we all know who the top guy was hanging missing with Mr Cooper over there because Cooper uh you know Cooper cup was like that was MVP caliber season he had

and he still didn't I wouldn't say fully stopped him but kind of stopped him and then he got then he got the next ACL so I'm not interested in him because I think he's gonna take a lot of money and I'm worried about what's gonna happen the first time Daniel Jones has issues because I'm still not sold on Jones myself here uh Frankie Curtis by the way clarifying his statements not you sir so good good I thought he saw me play shuffleboard he said the chick on your right

who prepared [Laughter] I was unaware you were a chick Rob congratulations on your news 123. don't judge listen You'll Be you man you'll be you I don't even know I was [ __ ] but here we go Frankie determined it for you it's okay Frankie does Hollywood after all he knows [Laughter] [Music] but mace get give us give us a bit here because the guys have heard us go on these rants before on obj give us a little bit on what why you think he might be a good fit assuming you still just think that and you know if you think that he's a guy that we should sign and what kind of value you put on a guy like this at this stage of his you know career at you know what is he on a 30 years old now coming off a second ACL tear yeah that's uh that's that's that's a lot um you know I I got a soft spot for Odell um I think he's a special talent um even if there's ACL injury you know I thought he still had a lot of speed I thought he was you know still explosive um still was beating guys vertically as we've seen you know he was still running routes good and um I don't know how many years he does have left but I I I think you know it's more that he can bring you know besides just you know stats and stuff like that I just feel like he brings a lot to the city I think he you know Jalen Ramsey has spoke about it that you know he's like one of the best guys in the locker room and when he went down at the effect that it had and you know he was the true heartbeat of that Ram team Rams team that um you know Ramsey was saying and I just think he's a competitor you know he's a he's a winner um you know I do think he can be a receiver too um I'm not trying to overpay for Odell like you said because all right the the issue with him is money you know what I mean at what what price point for Odell and um the receiver Market is just ridiculous you know what I mean it's it's I I would you know I would give him a two-year two-year three-year deal um you know probably can get out after after two around you know 10 8 to 10 but I I doubt Odell's probably gonna want to take that but I think that's reasonable for him I think he brings a lot to an organization and uh um he wouldn't stop me from trying to get that guy but I do think he would you know you can be a 1B or or you're two you know what I mean and you still draft that guy he he still demands attention I think um the injuries is hands down a question with him and uh who would have thought he'd leave New York and get ACL injuries like crazy and not get a single one here like like he just missed this that much he felt that he could tear his ACL a couple times [Laughter]

[Music] listen I I think eight to ten million dollars a year like you're talking about if I can get obj for that I'm down in a heartbeat yeah I just I just wonder if that's the best offer he gets hypothetically what do you even know I don't think I don't think someone's gonna overpay him because they could have overpaid him last year I mean he's a he wasn't he he wasn't working out with anyone yes he was he worked yeah oh that's true he didn't work out he just interviewed he's got like yeah just get his talk I mean like I said Dallas wanted him do you think Dallas extra 12 13 million dollars on it around to pay him yeah you know Buffalo want him do you think they would have paid him that kind of money 13. yeah

maybe on a per maybe on a probated hoping he was like the missing piece to get a Super Bowl but yeah I think I think they might have I think his name alone and what he brings seats and and stuff like that and I think with this Market you got guys like Christian Kirk oh God through that contract is a I I still can't believe that he actually played better this year than I thought he would win I'm gonna say that people have not backtracked that enough uh yeah I I still was a crazy overpay on him so um real quick Rob we do have an update here from Frankie he says I love you Rob so this is why he was talking about you as a chick now because he loves you and he's been drinking and can't hear good but thank you and keep up the good work

that's a true fan man that's yeah it's like a Bloody Mary on Sunday listen people are tailgating us that's the point that we've gotten now people are tailgating the goofball show okay Mike the bear fan what do you all think that happens with Barkley and Jones one of the big payday Jones yeah but not worth 45 million a year but not Barkley because best year was contract here listen Mike we talked about that in the last couple episodes there Backtrack on that one there's he got Tommy G there with us talking running backs and the Entertainer himself talking about quarterbacks there uh I I think the consensus seems to be is that we're going to re-sign Barkley it's not gonna be anywhere near 45 it'll be 32 Max because that's what the the tag is DJ um yeah DJ sorry and then Barkley I I think Mike I think you already get to know Barkley very well in Chicago because I think that's where he's gonna go personally I think they're going to overpay him just to get a second star to go alongside Fields personally I hope I'm wrong with that and I hope he's a giant for life because I got a lot of respect for the guy but I don't want to pay a running back what he wants to get paid just don't want to do it I'll draft one of the mid rounds and he may not be as good as Barkley but with the value it'll be there at that point um Frankie also has said another thing that you know my rule Rob on this I don't put this kind of stuff up he put Goku no no I don't put things other teams up and and Frankie now I understand why you've been drinking because if I haven't seen my team win a Super Bowl since the mid 90s I'd probably want to drink too okay I'm just saying so Mike the bear fan if looking at wide receiver for the Giants maybe look for a JuJu for a year uh prove it year and get him cheap for one year listen like we're gonna get in this some of the guys to fix this wide receiver group here in a second but I'm telling you right now I don't think Juju is the guy because he fits what we already have he doesn't give us extra he's more of a slot receiver we have plenty of slot guys I don't know if they're all going to be healthy or one is going to be healthy but you know if Juju will not be key no yeah I don't think I agree with you that too he went to the he went to the Chiefs to kind of balloon his his evaluation of what he's worth and someone's going to pay him because he's probably the top wide receiver on the free agent Market this year except for maybe one of the guy that we're going to talk to that I would pay money for yeah did you I mean do we want that introduce you now or well you go for if you got some Juju comments go for it keep on saying listen it's a fun name to say I like it yeah I mean I think he's a great player I think uh I think he's fantastic what he does and he's going to get paid but to stop by the Giants he is a big body receiver he is you know he makes contact and he gets some Yak yards but I don't think he's going to be worth what he wants and like Drew said there's a lot of guys that do what he does for a lot less that we have for like he's not often he's a giant fan we can say we have a lot of guys who do what this receiver already does I mean they don't put up yards but listen you you get your value you get wandel healthy for a year or Shep healthy for a year maybe one of those guys can do what Juju does I'm telling you right now I'm gonna say like you have Wanda healthy for a year he'd be the new Juju so I'm gonna give you guys my name and who I think if we could sign him I would be okay with and well we kind of alluded this to one of the previous episodes here and I don't think we're gonna do it because I don't think we'll have the money to do it Jacoby Myers I'm a big Jacoby Myers guy because when you can put up any yards whatsoever with Matt Patricia and Joe Judds running her offense that's skill that skill like you can't take that away okay that's like the equivalent of having like you know Zach Wilson as your quarterback I'm just saying like that's that it's that kind of level like you had nothing at that point to help you out in scheme whatsoever and if you take out the couple of you know uh you know games that he missed that would have been a thousand yard season for him because he was out for a couple games he had his best yards per game average of his career he's improved every single year that's one of the things I like to look at with free agents have they improved you know are they going uphill or downhill in their career this is a guy going uphill hasn't had a really decent receiver basically uh the last couple I said he's in the quarterback the last couple of years has an offensive scheme this past year he's barely zappy come on seriously I just like the name you just want to say happy again I did I did I'll say this mace our season talks in the games whatever Bailey was playing with like zappy zappy zappy zappy zappy couldn't say zappy enough it's gonna be a zippy game it's real khaki isn't it seriously that could be like a bumper sticker or something here so let's see here we got a couple we got a couple more uh a couple more comments here we'll lose the tracks we're going through for so much Frankie again oh you got an actual athlete under show I'm thinking that's Rob are you the athlete Rob because it's not me that's for sure

has he seen you play some sports because I'm not the athlete it's not me uh let's see here all right yes he said he might play a different team but you are on hell of an athlete these guys are top shelf

we talk about the alcohol with the top shelf is that what's going on are you drinking the good stuff Frankie come on let's see Mike the bear fan with the new system and new GM I don't think they'll make the big splash at running back especially Barkley and listen if there was other options available to them to make a big splash as a weapon I'd be with you but Barkley is the best weapon on the market there and that's what the Bears are going to want to do and having a running back who can catch the ball to go along with a running quarterback is a great safety net ask Daniel Jones ask Daniel Jones that's a big move there right there so we got Katie Cristiano regular of the show here this this year the free agent wide receiver Market is Slim it is very very slim here very very slim and we got Frankie he just has I think he has a thing for Rob here we got go rob go rob shout out to Adonis who's Rob's dog so he definitely doesn't know Rob oh if I spelled it right I don't know but Rob had to step away for a second it looks like there he is sorry Devin here we go he goes Myers will continue to go uphill and would like him in Chicago sorry Mike no I want him in New York you guys that was a that was uh that was like one of the few guys I looked at and I was I thought it was interesting Jacoby Myers I think he's a good name yeah he got he got some good qualities to him and he can separate you know I I feel like I feel like he can be a two you know what I mean it's just a it's the price point with him I think he could be a woman I think he could be a one I think I think she really could be one but I think the problem is like you said is the price uh he's he's gonna come out big in this uh in this offseason and people are going to look at Jacoby they're going to look at um at Juju they're going to look at T Higgins like and these guys are gonna probably get paid 18 million a year dude T Higgins gonna get paid like a beast whoever trades for him is going to pay this man like 25 25 million dollars a year wow it's gonna be it's gonna be crazy it's gonna be like that kind of contract he's gonna break the bank I'm telling you right now whoever trades this guy absurd he's gonna get the record for like most to play to pay to play the position I'm telling you it's gonna happen he's going to get that kind of contract easily and that's crazy so we talked about Jacoby there we got another comment here and it's from my Dad hey Dad I always feel weird to saying his name on the thing it's like it's dead so if the wide receiver starved Patriots left Jacoby walk then you have to think twice about signing him and that's a good point it's almost like this is true this is see the it's a genetic thing this is where I get my football television from my dad here because that's that's a good point but so what's their cap situation I don't know I don't know what their cap situation is but also look at the Patriots like they've always they they let good players walk just because they like keep in that salary cap down and keeping it like Farm fed draft guys coming up they rather move the money around a little bit like yep they had Moss right how many stars have they had that they're allowed to walk through they'll get the veteran guys at a cheaper price they don't pay top dollar for the top players because everyone comes up in Massachusetts to do their job and that's it they're not going to pay top dollar for anything no they pay immediately look at Tom Brady Tom Brady's gonna get as good as the goat he took a paid cut to stay there well hold on hold on everybody overplays that man listen if I was married to Giselle I could take a pay cut too I just gotta state that as part of that because it's not like he's the rightness of his heart because he wanted to be a good teammate but the guy says I don't care the missus is making a hundred million dollars a year I'm good yeah I'm just trying to say that's the team that Patriots are I'm not trying to say anything about time oh no no I just got to point that out whenever anybody brings that up because people over overplay that as far as like oh Brady was a team player no Brady had a rich voice

he's not Mr Brady he was he was he was Mr Bundchen for the last 10 years prior to this this breakup now I mean also he's trying to find it New England I might get disconnected uh-oh charger that's why I've been walking around just to give you guys an update I thought you were giving us a tour of your house mace I just redid the kitchen guys check it out I'm over here trying to look for a charger oh I think we got the whole view of mace's house if anybody if anybody home if anybody is a fan of mace's Twitter and Instagram and it's watching and you guys been curious about where's the mace Den like what does this house look like you're gonna get quite the view in this video and if you guys are listening if you guys are listening in the audio podcast later on you are missing out on the tour this is like this this is like one of those like HGTV shows where you're just walking around showing us his crib like New York Giants yeah like like if you guys like yeah like and by the way I should also mention guys because I didn't even mention this early in the show we have expanded our streaming expanded the streaming so we've been on Facebook we've been on Twitter we've been on YouTube we are now officially also on Twitch we are on Twitch now we are also officially on my ins my LinkedIn page as well because why not because I legit have like 10 000 followers on my LinkedIn page so I was like what the hell we're going to my LinkedIn page too why not so we have branched out we're now streaming to five different places at once guys so yeah we are everywhere guys and thank you everybody for tuning in we got some new comments here I think it's about the the home value of Mace like how how much did you put in this granite countertops add to that okay

oh let's see Frankie he goes he goes yo Frankie's got a thing for Rob love Adonis more he's got a thing for Rob and the dog there we got we got good night Frankie and then Anastasia uh oh Rob your girl's coming in the she she heard what Frankie was saying she's coming on now heart heart she's like leave him alone Frankie leave him alone she's like leave him alone Frankie

Ken with Higgins is going to wax the team yeah I told you that man's gonna get paid money like you would not believe here Mike the Bears fan if anyone's gonna pay Higgins uh anybody's gonna pay Higgins and the Bears should because with him and Claypool and Mooney can be dangerous it feels can be protected by the o-line uh Mike here's the biggest problem with that Fields has to learn to throw the ball and I ain't knocking on him he's a good Young quarterback but I still have my questions whether he can sit in the pocket and play an old school like throw him kind of game and if you look at the history of the NFL as the quarterback position has become much more mobile and this is one of my biggest gripes I have with Daniel Jones so it's not let me try to hating the team here the guys who win the Championships are primarily pocket quarterbacks they may get out when they got to get out they may improvise when they got to improvise but for the most part they sit there let they let the play come to them they throw the ball when they have to I'm just not a big fan of overly running quarterbacks like that for that reason because at some point you're gonna have to throw to win the game that's life in the NFL especially in the modern NFL can Fields do that I still have the question if Jones can do it but I'm definitely going to question it with with Fields because I've seen the way he played I feel this is way more of a way more of a more a mobile quarterback than oh dude he's like a running back who occasionally throws the ball it's like a wildcat almost it's crazy it's like that's wrong and it's gonna it's gonna work when he's Young but at some point a defensive coordinator is going to figure out how to stop it and everybody else is gonna copy whatever he does and he's gonna have to be able to throw the ball to compensate and then by throwing the ball more he can still go ahead and run the ball at that point right now he's too one-dimensional for my taste so you guys can feel free to disagree me though I know I'm very opinionated it's okay it's okay uh I I think I think Phil's I think you know we've seen at Ohio State you know that he he was a throw of the ball you I think it's it depends on the offense and the ability there's definitely some accuracy issues there I'm not gonna you know be blind to it but he he you know there there's some there's some plays of you know him making some downfield plays uh he's like he got some processing issues you know what I mean but he's a second year quarterback very very very high ceiling guy um you know once I think him and Daniel Jones have you know similar situations uh I I like I like both quarterbacks you know what I mean um I think I think Brian David could can make a monster out of fields honestly the Dave will have that yeah and people forget all the time these young quarterbacks it's not always them it's the situation they go to that determines the success or a failure it's coaching them yeah who's around them what positive influences do they have in their lives at that point there's a lot more than what you just see in you know in the 60 Minutes there on the field and that's it there's a lot more that goes into it I'm a big advocate of saying you don't just draft a quarterback you you build them yep you know yeah and a lot of these top quarterbacks they they there's there's a lot of similarities a lot of them have uh consistency with with coaching staff a lot of them have good head coaches it's a reason it's you know and and I'm not trying to take anything away from those Elite guys but you know everybody's not you know just going to the the worst situation and just overturning it you know what I mean so you gotta around those guys you gotta you know set those guys up for Success it's a dual relationship and they they're gonna produce for you when you do those things but when you fail your your quarterback field Sam darnold um

it's a recipe for disaster honestly yeah I mean yes yeah listen not every quarterback out of the draft is going to be a Patrick Mahomes that's going to be able to start for you and make a big difference could you imagine the league if everybody had a patch yeah let's watch football all day long you're gonna get more like Zach Wilson and Johnny Manziel coming out with a bad coach like there's gonna be they're gonna have talent but they're not going to be able to do anything with it because they're not going to be well coached and there's going to be goofballs if you will is it just me and I want to see what you guys think of this because I've said this for years and no NFL team has really ever picked up in this mentality for some reason see I'm not in the market to buy an NFL team anytime soon no I don't got a couple of billion dollars if this if this show really takes off we'll buy a team and rename it the goofballs but I'm just saying like until that day comes until that day comes you know the one thing and we talked about this briefly we talked about wink when he was where they're saying the Giants might throw more money at him to tell him not to take the Colts job if he got offered it why a team that has a Young quarterback or a chance to draft a Young quarterback doesn't just say open checkbook I want the best goddamn coaching staff I can get my hands on I will pay you like a player it's such important position not just the head coach the coordinator the QB coach all these guys at a positive influence you hope on a guy you're throwing everything at in your franchise just open up your damn checkbook and pay them in I'm with you man OC o Caesar OC is one of the most underrated positions yes

I'm telling you right now if I'm Houston and I and listen I'm not upset with who Houston God is a head coach you know I I think they got a guy they're comfortable with because he used to play there a guy that came from a winning organization in the Niners but he's a defensive minded guy I think we all know it's pretty damn clear they're going to go ahead and pick a quarterback in the first round I'm getting the goddamn best offensive coordinator money can buy yeah they're the best goddamn quarterback coach money can buy I like I like Texans man I like their situation I like what they do they're sitting pretty people don't realize how pretty they're sitting not as pretty as the Bears because they got a quarterback in the first overall pick but they're not far behind no no

oh yeah yeah I was just gonna say they're they're in a weak Division and there's automatically uh uh growth opportunity you know what I mean so he either the coach shouldn't feel like he's on a hot seat you know you just won three games um second pick 12 pick what else more could you ask for young roster they do have some pieces over there they have the second best uh left tackle in football you know they got oh I know they did there right so you did there tell us who's the first tell us who's number one

I think it's true I think oh come on

up I had you set up so well come on base I love I love Andrew I love Andrew Thomas listen I got I got a button that takes you right off the screen don't tell me man

hear what you're saying but the the the biggest problems with the Texans is the Texans they find a way they find a way it's about themselves it's the owner he's a POS and I'm trying to put an icy when I when I say it that way I'm just saying to be honest there's a lot of really nasty allegations against the man I don't know him personally so I'll say allegations so I don't get sued

they had all these great picks and they just botched it they they come up yep what was it Mills is supposed to be the Savior this year yeah because he had an okay year yeah like they just needed a narrative

to sell to the fans that's it Hamilton I mean the the running back what Pierce what is that yeah yeah he had a great year beast beast I'm still pissed so they did a good job drafting him but they also get in their own way here's the thing when you find ways to lose games when you get two three picks when you get two three picks around you're gonna hit in a couple yeah just saying also bless you whoever sneezed a blind squirrel finds a nut every once yeah bless you again whoever sneezing

but yeah let's get on to what onto how not to mess things up here enough of the text it's here who else you guys think might be a good pickup for us free agency-wise here in the wide receivers because we we got to look at some guys that might be a little cheaper there as much as I'm looking at a guy that I think is the number one potential we might not have number one money so who do we have that might be interesting there to pick up as as a wide receiver or do you guys think we're gonna go draft this call today because we kind of broke you know everybody wants to talk about this money we got for I think we're shopping on the Ross and Marshall's budget here

don't be messing with TJ Maxx [Laughter] I've looked receiver list a lot and it's I I just I head scratch um I see Nick filato you know reference Parish Campbell uh that's a rage I just don't know bro with the money that we have it's almost gonna overpay Paris Campbell I'm telling you that too someone's gonna overpay him too I I agree I agree it's it's just the inflated Market he's young so people are throwing his name around I personally think if we're gonna go get a free agent get an older guy that we can have as a stop gap for a year or two and that's it a guy like Marvin like a Marvin Jones I don't like Barbie like you like Marvin this is like what 33. he's yeah he's he's 33. but he's still playing he's still playing good you know yeah he's it the price what do we pay for that that's my only thing and that's my whole thing is because he's old you can get him cheap No One's Gonna Give a huge huge contract to a 33 year old receiver let's be honest I have no problem if he's cheap I have no problems that's upset if you can get her for like one year three million dollars oh yeah yeah when you're even stretched it to five maybe something crazy like that I wouldn't give this guy a 10 million dollar contract I'm not suggesting that you know but I'm saying that's the kind of guy that I wouldn't mind if we can't get you know a legit number one somehow just to get somebody else in the mix who does something different than what the guys are that we already got and I think a guy like Marvin Jones provides that a guy like Alan Lazard also provides that you know those kind of guys but I said it's Slim Pickens and it really is you look up and down this list of the guys who were available you know Nikita Harry Jarvis Landry we mentioned Juju already uh you know I mean I'm gonna you mentioned lizard I wouldn't mind getting him out of cheap too I I see he's a little younger but I don't think he'll be cheap he's 27. he's 27 someone's gonna give him a three-year 30 million dollar deal probably easy he's coming off his rookie contract

I mean it wasn't like he had the best year last year either so that's what I'm saying yeah he's come off as rookie deal like but if you get a match I wouldn't say like I want to go over 25 for three years you know and My Hope honestly and maybe I'm just crazy for hoping this but I'm hoping one of the big three receivers just drops to us in the first round please I'm really yeah I I want Jackson real bad that's my guy I know he has some played all year um but that man lit up the rules voting like 320 yards in the Rose Bowl I'm not worried about him not playing in in Micah Parsons two of probably the best rookies out of that class didn't play that last year if you can ball yeah and and the one scare I have with him is I worry he might be more of a slot guy even though he's an amazing slot receiver but I'll take Talent like that all day long and I think he's I honestly think he's the most talented of the wide receivers and if he was healthy this year he would have gone top five in the draft I think he's that good I really do I'm with you bro um um absolutely with you I'm buying we'll we'll learn and I think his I think if he runs it 4-4 goes out there and prove people that he's not as slow as people are trying to make it seem and yeah he'll be back on top of the boards these Scouts can't be that dumb you know what scares me in this draft and I really hope we don't get him and I hate to say it ever because I could be wrong who knows we're all guessing on these draft guys every single no what was that is it Zay flowers no see Zay actually I think fits what the Giants like they love those tiny receivers they love those guys that like you just who I picked yeah I think I mean what they want just they love the little guys they love the little guys the guy who I'm really scared they might be interested in is Jordan Addison because I keep hearing about him how he's got one of the highest floors do you know what when I hear highest Force you know what that's code for but he's not that good right now that's cool he's got the lowest ceiling no not a high ceiling yeah that's but that's what that means it means he's a safe pick safe pick means especially when you're getting talking to getting a guy late in the first round not early in the first round that to me tells me he'll be a number two kind of receiver in this league and I don't need a number two I need number one yeah I don't know he's a one you know maybe the one I need a one I like him it's gonna be hard for us to find the one and I think I I think Jackson Smith The Jig but is the guy if we can't get him I'm gonna be really crushed I'd move up to get him even I think I like him that much I'd move up to get him I'm with you I'm with you like a game changer I love him he he just understands football good route Runner great at Yak great at the catch Point um just always finding holes in the defense smoothed you know what I mean Jason is just he's a he's a football player bro you know what I mean and if we can get him in the slot he gives me Justin Jefferson Vibes you know the question is do you love him as much as Frankie loves Rob [Laughter]

let's get back to those those comments here Ken Cristiano feels can't throw the ball I I I'm not saying he can't I'm saying he has some show me yet I'm going to be clear on this also a Bears fan mace I know he is I I just I just I'm not if he if that guy actually figures out how to be a pocket QB that comes out he needs to be he's gonna be freaking dangerous for a long time in this league uh Ken he well for a Bears fan to say this Bears should trade fields and get a car Wow first off could you imagine if they traded away fields and got all the picks they get for him then trade away the first overall pick and all the picks to get there damn and they're like 10 first round picks the next two years 10 version updates they'd be like that a big because I'm telling you watch the Bears clear house in this draft because they can go down to two with the Texans then they can go to four with the Colts they're they can still probably get a Top Flight Defender I'm telling you watch this team like trade down a couple of times and have like picks like you wouldn't believe that's the stuff they do and then and now you're the Eagles in two years and you still got a bunch of picks so you're losing the Super Bowl again oh I had to say it I had to say it I had to say it I couldn't help I couldn't help myself listen and and I I don't bring it up that way because I've been I've been messing with Eagles fans like crazy because the eagle fans that are like oh well we just got to the Super Bowl it don't matter if you don't win it don't matter that just means you're the best loser there is to the dance and couldn't before and you know what the difference is with the Giants and the Eagles the Eagles are what now one in three in the Super Bowl one in three the Giants are four and one that's the difference folks that is that's the difference it's not that Eagles don't ever go to the Super Bowl it's that they don't typically win when they go unless Nick Foles does some weird whole you know voodoo magic there at that point somehow pulls a win out of his took us to put it nicely yeah uh there's my dad chiming it again running backs will get hurt at some point I mean they look at Jones he's this is the first year he's been healthy that's for sure um Ken Cristiano and it's what system they get to New QBs I'm not understanding Ken rewrite that one for me please unless you guys get it am I the only one I think he was just saying you know like when I was talking about the building the quarterback and oh and probably what system the new QB goes to is is real important yeah no it's it's huge and I I mean it's maturity on the quarterbacks part I mean look at like it's got like Zach Wilson in in New York that let's be frank that man cared more of a bagging cougars and he carried that backing touchdowns I mean let's let's call what it is I mean I mean let's look at Drew Brees you go to Chargers and he goes over the Saints hold up he was good the last year with the with with the Chargers people forget that they were said and not not beef after all after that there was that discussion but he just took it to another level with Sean Payton

exactly Mike the Bears fan very good takes everybody I'll be tuning in more have a great night take it easy Mike you're probably at this point that was probably read this book you'll listen later on so you are correct I don't know what he said but I probably was correct

who acquired his football Acumen despite my old school influence for my dad there okay yeah yeah I mean my dad taught me a lot of things he's like me we're both very opinionated people so he we're it it it works out pretty well in that regard that we had each other to kind of Bounce stuff off of all the time Ken Cristiano yuck I don't know what that was about Ken but yuck indeed I guess my dad chiming it again bring back Shepard and draft two receivers we don't need an aging veteran who is injury risk and I don't disagree with that depending on who we get and that's why I'm saying if we can get an older receiver cheap for a year or two to stop Gap it especially knowing we got Wanda coming back and big injury we got Shep that we're expecting to get injured again though you know hopefully I'm wrong on that one there but you know like it's not a bad move I think to have an older guy for one more year like that to kind of be a stop Gap Ken Cristiano exactly Ken you were just giving cryptic messages here left and right here I feel like you're doing code with somebody like are you a spy for somebody or something like that somebody's under the line going they said exactly who that's the code word guys let's go go go go he says come on LOL that's all this system can't blame Zach listen I'm not saying I blame Zack Zack's a a young rich kid okay we talked about this a minute ago listen he's a young rich single kid on top of that if you get to chill with it if you listen first off I'm going to say this and Rob would have tested the fact I'm a very happy happily married man I'm gonna I'm gonna start that ahead of time especially in case my wife is watching I love you did you see Zach Wilson's mom I didn't see the friend no I'm just saying Google it before you comment Google it I'm just gonna say that

just saying you might have seen her at a club like 10 15 years ago I'm just saying

Ken Cristiano Marvin Jones I said yuck too oh Marvin Jones you're saying the yuck about okay okay nobody likes Marvin Jones I kind of I'm kind of I'm kind of really shocked by that and you know what I thought he was a good solid piece at the Jaguars uh you know offense overall not a guy that you like go oh my God we couldn't do this without Marvin but he'd still put up our 500 yards if you can get that kind of receiver on a team like this that struggled to find people all year long I don't think it's that bad a move listen if we were the guys who had like you know three or four Top Flight receivers and we were fine and we didn't need a receiver so yeah we'll get the hell out of here Marvin but with the guys we got can we turn anyone away can we turn anyone away seriously no that's like I feel like yeah

I feel like if I showed up at Timex deal like okay here's a uniform let's go for it let's see what you got we're in that boat we can't turn anybody away like walk-ins wow this is like a college game now Chad Powers you're up next [Laughter] Ken Cristiano she's hot saxophone this is where we've gotten into we've gotten to rating Zach's mom

like Stacy's mom I don't want to ten how hot listen I'm not gonna start going that route I don't want to start going into into that bad of it here I'm just saying she's not a bad looking woman so I'm assuming her friend probably isn't either unless she's like the ugly girl that she brings to the club to look that much better deaf is that the term for I I do I didn't know if there was a term or not for it but we all know that's what they do that's what they do it's like right no is that like the friend the friend

ugly fat friend oh okay okay okay

he's like I'm not touching this one it's gonna get me in trouble

it's like they told me they wouldn't get me in trouble backing me in a corner in this conversation here they did anyway all right sorry wait way way to go rob the little road here I'm sure she's a very nice woman with a very nice personality [Music] [Laughter] so yeah like I said I I so I think that's where we're at I think we can all agree that if we want a top fight receiver the draft is our best shot right are we in agreement there so yeah so I mean are you guys opposed to moving down if you have to and we gotta wait we're gonna have what 11 picks in this draft by time to give the the comp picks is that what we're gonna be up to that's right listen we're we don't we're not going to have 11 guys to make the roster let's be honest 11 rookies are not going to make this roster probably and if they do that means we overpaid somebody whether it's Jones or Barkley because we we couldn't get anybody else on the damn team after that uh like everybody okay new rookie new rookie new rookie new rookie because we're now the sick one Jones team now but like I said you guys think I'm crazy for that and what do you think does that make sense in that case to do 100. yeah I I'm I think that's the I mean obviously depending what you have to give up draft is the way to go you want to build it you want to build a team through the draft uh I'm not into free agency guys I'm not into top guys uh draft draft you know those contracts uh those rookie contracts are pivotal you know what I mean you don't want to go out there keep paying top dollar um being your Dave gettleman yeah when you you just shopping for a free agent yeah listen uh

our our coaching staff our GM you just said you already said that you're like listening and then I couldn't hear you then I couldn't hear you you left this in suspense again damn it Rob like listen [Laughter] ing

so our coaches staff and her GM have said it's a rebuild here right we had a great rebuild year Hillary building doesn't mean you sigh and overpay yeah it doesn't mean you shy and overpaid people as you rebuild it means you draft and that's what you're gonna do and look at Buffalo does overall they drafted drafted draft I I fully expect us to be that kind of team you know I'm going to mention it real quick there and I'll let you guys give us some final notes after that here that I have we haven't mentioned yet that I want to mention because there's been a report that the Giants have spent a lot of time looking at a certain QB out of Tennessee and I think that's all smoke and mirrors because it that's come out ever since the Jones 45 million dollar comments I think it's all smoke and mirrors but one thing we're not talking about and I've heard anybody talk about this so if I'm right on this I'm taking the credit this is now recorded this is ready to go this is gonna be a repo this goes I'm just saying if I'm right on this it's going to go everywhere Jalen Hyatt

are we looking at the quarterback are we looking at the guy the quarterback's throwing to

both I'm just saying that there's a sensibility and if you want to go ahead and create a decoy to upset Jones's people because let's be honest we ain't going anywhere out of QB except Jones this year Shane said as much he's not going to change his mind it's too late for smoke screens

yeah like like seriously Jalen Jalen's a h I like Jalen he's a speedy guy which is what we're missing and I I agree I've I've been on his his boat you know all year the thing about Jalen Hyde is the route tree um over 55 of his routes are gold balls you know what I mean it's it's very very limited and then they they run that weird offense over there that spread uh it might not be much of a problem with us but they they they stack a lot it's a lot of like off off ball stuff and he you know he gets a lot of free releases um and contestant catches is another issue with Jalen I think he has like eight or something or like press coverage I think that's that that's what it was he didn't have a lot of catches against press coverage um but speed is is is is the NFL needs it the NFL loves it we need it we have the slowest receiving Court in the NFL per PFF so one thing you can't teach you can't no you can't teach speech you're either fasting or not think fast be fast you can teach a lot of others [Laughter] I like them I like them for us you can you can open things up you can open up other routes um size might be a concern but you know what scares me on him the most is before the season ended I looked at him as a as a potential second round guy and I think he's gonna creep up into the first yeah he's and and I think when I see creep I mean someone's gonna reach because every year there's a run on receivers at some point and I think it's going to happen mid to late first round which is where it typically does happen and I think someone's gonna reach for a guy that probably should have made a second round pick probably needs a little time as you mentioned to develop a route trig and do that kind of stuff and that's a first round pick you don't really get that you're expected to go in and be the guy not just a guy the guy second round picks don't have that kind of you know that kind of weight on them you know it's it's not on them like that look at Wanda we know it expected wandel to come and beat the guy

yeah but we expected that obj we traded him when we sign them I mean that's that's we drafted obj he had to be the guy because we drafted him in the first round yeah not expect that of wandel yeah when we when we went ahead and drafted Hakeem Nix he had to be the guy coming out because we drafted in the first round yeah I'm with you the expectations are definitely different from the first round the second round and I think for a guy needs to help it's not a good move for him yeah yeah it is going to be interesting to to see what you know where they value him because to me the the speed guy always goes High you know Ross um drugs rugs you're talking some great picks here you're really making the case for this mode I'm sorry I'm just saying like one's in jail and I think one's out of the league I mean seriously like yeah pretty much okay you waddle you had to go there

but uh who else I'm trying to think I'm just thinking you're trying to think of good fast receivers now that got drafted the first round he's like he's like this schmuck just called me out

but I was just you know I was just trying to hit that they go early bro the speed the 4-2 guy the low 4-3 guy thing yeah NFL loves him so he he probably Creeps in the first bro and I wouldn't mind yeah I think like I said I think he'll go with in in the in the end of the first but I think he'll be a reach it doesn't mean he'll won't succeed but I think it's still a reach to where he's going because I thought like mid second round maybe get to us in the in in the end of the second round at that point but the more and more I see everybody talking he's not making the second round the way things are going but there's going to be a run I think you know on you know guys like him uh I think you might see even like Josh Downs tank Dell obviously Zay flowers ago in the first obviously Jackson already mentioned Addison who's gonna go Quinton Johnson would even talk about because let's be honest Johnson's gonna be gone way before we pick um there's there's gonna be a run in that first round of wide receivers guys and if we want to get the number one guy and I mean the number one best receiver but the guy could be a number one for us for the Giants the guy we're gonna build around the offense we may have to move up

we may have to so real quick before we get to final thoughts let's get we got a couple of new comments here Ken Cristiano again where do you guys think Rogers ends up I think Rogers ends up an Arkham Asylum where all good villains go in the end okay like he's just he just when they say he dug himself out of a hole that's the hole he was in jail okay he got out with one of those sporks to give in the cafeteria uh no honestly I think I I think it all depends on where Derek Carr goes I think Derek Carr is going to be the uh the the first sure to speak shoe to drop and then everything's gonna go from there because he's the younger of the two obviously uh even though Rogers is still probably the more talented because of the age difference where a car goes with a term where Rogers goes and I'm just hoping for his sake and for Jet fan sakes it's not New York because the media will absolutely freaking crush him there I've said it before what do you guys think

do you want that one Rob yeah I'll take all right listen one's gonna go to New Orleans the other one's gonna go to the Jets I don't know like Drew said the Bucks out of this entirely huh I am I think I think uh Saints are pushing for a good quarterback they haven't had one in a while and they rode harder last year with that one I think one's going to go to Saints and one's going to go to New York I'm sorry you're breaking up you said riding hard we're talking about Zach Wilson and his mom's friend again I was talking about New York

I couldn't help myself I'm I'm I'm I'm with I'm with you man I'm with you uh if if I'm a quarterback I'm trying to go to the NFC South though that's that's what I'm saying that's the spot

south I mean like like we said earlier it's not a tough division right now like no nobody nobody it's wide open they replaced us as the bad division now yeah it was the NFC least now it's the NFL I don't even know what you want to call it there because I know what rhymes with South that sounds bad

we'll think of it later but that'd be very Whimsical and funny insert laugh here [Laughter] but yeah I mean especially with Brady being gone uh you know he got Ohana still doesn't have a quarterback Saints don't have a quarterback the Panthers don't have a quarterback you have a tired division where your best quarterback may very well be I'm trying to think of who would be right now is it Sam darnold is Sam darnold the best quarterback in that division oh my God like I just saw him Andy Dalton he's finally got listen this is the first time in Annie Dalton's career he's been called the best at anything and not mediocre I'm just saying that's sad that's sad when Annie Dalton you're right may be the best quarterback in that entire Division if he's even signed by them next year yeah might be down there yeah that's a bad division guys that's a bad division alrighty so yeah like I said I I got to think about in this episode guys a lot to think about there it's like do we do we try to get the money to get somebody the first and then you know in the free agency there um you know do we do we scientist anybody at random to have a body as a wide receiver at some point this year you know do we do we get a couple wide receivers in the draft we trade up to get the number one guy and I think this position this moves is going to determine potentially our offense for this season I think it's that important I really do um so any final thoughts you guys want to give here on the wide receiver group overall and what the plan's gonna have to be for this off season

um yeah just just just just identify that guy um it might be hard to find a receiver one but it go out there and go get get your receiver too um I also think that you know uh if you can find a receiving threat tied in um you know that that can also help you know you know finding a guy that can be your you know receiver three almost your third option you know vertical threat guy that can also help and bring back say Quan say Quan can be you know he's not just a running back he's a dynamic football player uh he can be used in the passing game and uh we've seen it with the Vikings we've seen it you know his rookie season had like seven eight hundred receiving yards so that that counts that boosters you know your quarterback and he can be a part of the receiving room so just you know you might not get your one but if you can get you know find a two a good tight end and or or you know draft two receivers it just it just helps out you know what I mean so load it up with Talent draft don't don't overpay and um let's see let's see how this team looks against um you know better competition and I want to thank you guys I appreciate you guys I appreciate you guys it was it was fun so anytime you guys you know want me to come back on the show it's my pleasure I love the Giants I love talking and uh give me a follow you know I got got it hashtag down there at uh at real mace black and thanks again guys uh thank you for coming on and I appreciate the point on the tight end position as well I've been already hitting the drum for Mike caseki good piece yeah good piece a guy grew up a giant fan too good piece I like that's that that's one guy that I like too I like I like yeah I'm big on it there any any follow any final thoughts about sentence for a while now

yeah I mean I agree like uh we re sorry we're losing yeah we're losing you you're doing the Mr Roboto dance again he's in the rest seemed again like like you said mace he's lined up and receiving he's had a great receiving uh sparkly in the game if we resign him he has to be part of the receiving Corps yeah with this where we are in the draft and what the free agents look like right now we probably won't get a wide receiver one but let's get a damn good rise receiver two and a follow-up to that as well for my receiver two and that's our one and two put Barclay in the game and signed a good tight end and let's play some football yeah yeah exactly so again guys if you didn't get a chance to write it down or look it up real quick mace's Twitter again is at real mace black and again you guys should be following if you're not following him guys you are missing out I'm telling you he's good he's good you listen to him for the last hour and a half plus with us here this man knows his stuff and he's a die-hard giant fan you gotta love people like that that know their stuff and just roof of this team through and through so again mace pleasure was on our side trust me we appreciate you coming over here today thank you so much man so and again guys if you are watching us live here on Facebook Tick Tock I'm sorry Facebook I wish Tick Tock to Facebook Twitter uh YouTube and now also twitch and my LinkedIn pageable Facebook randomly thrown into the mix here thank you very much for listening live if you are not listening live and you want to go ahead and follow us live we typically record every Monday Wednesday and Friday at 9 00 PM uh we are like I said live on those places there uh we're also of course available afterwards on those social media Pages we're also available on every single audio podcast platform that matters if you don't see us on your audio podcast platform then you're using the wrong platform that's all there is to it guys you got to pick something else here we're on Spotify we're on Apple we're on Amazon we're on some I never even heard it before this one called Deezer you ever heard of Deezer I never heard of it I'm saying that's that's how far reaching we are people
