goofballs a New York Giants podcast are you a goofball that loves Giant football if so sit back and relax except you that person driving sit up and keep your eyes on the road your ears though can still listen as we talk about the team that both excites and frustrates us so much and now and now here are your goofball hosts Drew and Rob

goofballs are two giant goofballs a New York Giants podcast I am Drew joined as always bye Ami arrive let's get something done it's a mock draft you buffoon yes

you're such a fool I can't take all this mocking guys oh yes but before with a mockery continues we do have a little bit of Giants news to give you guys here and I think it's pretty exciting news actually at least one of them one of them's kind of exciting one of them's kind of so the first one is we did officially re-sign Isaiah Hodgins as if there was any doubt he was coming back after the year he had but yeah he is coming back officially we will have Isaiah Hodgins back on the roster uh probably not as big a role as he had the second apathy here this year but you know as as more of a you know A reduced role a bit player there which is probably where he's better suited there unless he proves this really wrong next year but yeah it's it's a good move and it's not going to be a high money move obviously either but again this is a sign folks there's a plan there's things in motion there's a plan they're not scrambling the last second to make moves they're going Isaiah Hodgins played well we want him on the team he's cheap back on the team you go back on the team you go so you know a good move to get that done out of the way immediately here now we do have another bit of giant news to share we have a new offensive assistant hired by the name of Christian dable the name may ring a bell for some people here maybe table so he's the offensive nepotism I mean assistant that's going to be hired

so I'll I'll give this though he did work um the last couple years in Penn State on on their staff helping out there so he was a student coach for the last three years but it must be nice to graduate college be a student coach for a couple years in This Waltz right into an NFL job right who does who needs to go to pop one or High School Community College SCC just jump right up to the big leagues what the hell said I had to go to high school I know he failed miserably but he did still go yeah so yeah I mean honestly I I joke around about it because it annoys me because it means there's probably somebody somewhere that actually had a fight you know claw tooth and nail to get to where they're at and won't get a look at this kind of position so that's the only part that kind of annoys me but at the same point if it makes dabel happy keep him happy he's stable Junior yeah we can have generations of table coaches 10 years you can take over

oh my God how funny would that be kind of like doing a Belichick and his son right now into England because there's always the rumors that Belichick's son's gonna take over for him eventually you know it might we'll find out because Rumor Has season they cut his mullet when that happens that's the rumor I just started that rumor but whatever if I say I haven't heard that one bit nope nope nope we're starting it right now [Laughter] one one bit of not Giants news I'm gonna give you guys as well before we get started on our mock draft oh this mockery oh the mockery not to be confused with Colin mockery uh we have we have a reduction in price here for Mr Aaron Jones the running back who went down from 16 million this upcoming year to 11 million I think it's just interesting to keep an eye instead like that with what's going on with Sequon because here's a guy who signed the deal and it was point point told basically we're gonna cut you unless you take a pickup and they didn't wait till mid-season they didn't wait till you know they got desperate for cash like the season ended they're like take a pickup yeah take a pay good so for all these guys clamoring bring Sequon back pay him whatever he wants and I I can't say the pay and whatever he wants is a huge crowd but I've definitely heard of that kind of notion guys it's a running back you don't overpaid running backs that comes back to bite you in the butt all the time yeah you see late round picks become stars all the time as well you know it's one of those positions you just don't pay so yeah I think this disco does get the uh the Giants some uh interesting uh you know leeway towards going to sequence people and be like listen Aaron Jones just took less money we're already offering you a million and a half more than Aaron Jones is getting you know and if you want to really compare the two Aaron Jones has probably had the better career so far because he hasn't had you know the health issues at all that's it has been injured exactly I mean the guys had three 1 000 yard seasons same as saquon he's never except for his rookie year had less than 700 yards saquon had two two seasons already of his five that way you know so again I I think it gives a lot more you know oomph for the Giants to go back to saquan's people and like listen we ain't budging we gave you 12 and a half million dollars take it or leave it and if you leave it we'll go find somebody else because even if whatever they find is not as good as saquon he's also not going to be as expensive folks which means you can put that money elsewhere exactly if we say I don't know draft running back maybe someone's gonna talk about that in the mock draft or maybe or hmm or you know just sign a couple of you know cheaper guys and spend maybe five million dollars in your running backs guess what folks you just saved eight seven million dollars which is the price of a linebacker it's the price of offensive lineman

I know it's awesome when you spend the money on your linebackers and your offensive tackles and all that stuff up front it makes a mediocre running back or a good running back look that much better oh yeah right now like having a stud running back with a crappy

I'll still say that we didn't it's not like everybody struggled behind that line and saquon was the only one everybody looked good against with our line we had a good run game going pretty much the whole season I'm fairly confident that if we get somebody else they're not gonna do as good as sequan because saquon's a freaking Beast yeah look we're not taking away from his top we're not but are they gonna do eight million dollars worse that's it the value is the question it's not the talent it's the value so we'll we'll see how that progresses there so just like I said I think it's something interesting to kind of keep an eye on and see where that goes there so alrighty let's get into the mock draft

[Laughter] so now I didn't do any pics for mine because I wanted to keep mine a little more realistic like that did you do any any uh trades on yours no I would straight okay with the picks we have because I don't want to get into the whole area yeah listen if you go through a mock draft you can draft you can trade down like three times and like 30 draft picks and I see people do it all the time and I do it for fun sometimes just messing around but for those of us that enjoy mock drafts and get stuck in that let me just give you guys a piece of advice you're not going to sign 20 rookies to the roster you won't have the roster spots to give them no do not do that when you mock draft I know it's fun and if you want to do it just for fun go for it but if you're actually trying to learn about the players and who you think might be available that's not the way to do it now I'll say this I feel like ever since the mock drafts became a thing that you can easily do on the computer uh or on your phone I feel like I've learned a whole lot more about players I might not have looked at otherwise ahead of time and it's kind of interesting because I I like I get more involved with the draft as a result like I care more about people that I I don't even think you know where the Giants were to draft them ever people I don't think you know uh I'll probably ever see because they play in like you know the the AFC West or something like that now where you see it like once every you know six years or something crazy uh you know it's it's weirder that happens you start caring about so much more in the draft that you would otherwise have like I remember like flipping out when the Patriots took Cole strange last year like I definitely pull the Sean McVeigh like I had this guy going third round fourth round here here's below check oops the end of the first round let's take this kid in Chattanooga the PowerHouse Chattanooga yeah like you know Cordell flock who we took in the third round I actually picked him in some of my mocks I had done throughout the year but I picked him in the fifth round we got him in the third so you just never know it's all about who values who where it's all subjective yes and if you if you really want to get to like the nitty-gritty of the Box oh I do you could go on the that whole Google thing right and you can put a mock draft you know 2023. and the Googles and you could just look at other professions but you could literally look at the same draft and have a different answer for every person that's doing that draft oh yeah yeah it's all opinion everyone's gonna evaluate it you know the position and what they have differently like some people are gonna some people are like this is what we need we're gonna you know we're gonna get this higher than what we could have yeah and they're not gonna think about best player for the position at that draft Yeah and we'll get into more on the individual players later on as as the off season progresses uh you know we're going to be starting next week with our positional breakdowns after that we're going to get more into you know the free agency since that's what's going to happen before the draft once that kind of dies downward to go into some more on the on the the positions uh you know the more mock drafts that kind of stuff there uh you know give you a kind of overview on the various first round Talent that's an option sent us and most people care about us that first round pick more than anything else but if you haven't already I don't care if you're listening live if you're listening to a recording if you're watching uh uh you know uh recording if you're on a podcast you know if you're just listening while you're going to the bathroom whatever the case may be folks hit that subscribe button so you don't miss a single episode we're gonna have a ton of content coming for you so let's get into it with our first overall pick so the first pick round one pick 25. I'm Gonna Let You Go first Rob H before

[Laughter]

like a boxed wine acidic exactly I did acid

anyway so I will say flower so I receive her out of Boston College all right um and the reason that it was hard for me I was looking around at different guys um Trent Simpson was another one I was looking at but I think our biggest downfall of last year was the receiving Corps and we've talked who is free agents that we could get in the receiving game that's worthwhile picking up that's not gonna expand our our money it's really not that many people out there we're gonna get d-hos we're going to pay this uh the guy with the AARP card yeah 15 million 18. no I want no part of z-op let me make that very clear off the bats yeah 30 million dollar cap hit and I'm good yeah that's what I'm saying like that's something we don't we don't need so I went with a pretty good receiver you know I personally think this man himself had himself 1077 yards last year um he had what was 12 touchdowns oh my notes all went off the door 12 touchdowns

doggy the homework [Laughter] uh yeah and he's you know I think he's he's gonna be a really good player in this league the one concern I got to say that I have with him is his hands I've definitely seen some drop passes by him and I don't know if that's something that can be taught out of him but I'm hoping so because how many time folks do we see Darius Slayton wide open and drop a pass and it's just so frustrating it's like this is your job you're literally a wide receiver receive the ball be the receiver receive it so good job exactly and he's not a big guy he's not 172 pounds yeah I mean he's he's a small guy and I wonder if getting hit by a guy who is literally twice your size in some cases is going to be an issue as far as him holding on to the ball there um but I like him overall I like the pick overall and if he's available it's definitely somebody I think the Giants should look at yeah if he's there that late I mean yeah once again it could be a different position down the road it could be a top 10 pick for all we know you never know you never know when you guys pick people it's crazy Daniel Jones yep so I you mentioned a guy who was available that you thought about taking and I didn't just think about I took him and that's Trenton Simpson linebacker out of Clemson because I agree with you on wide receiver but I'm going to put it as a tie with wide receiver and linebacker both being the main issues and Trenton Simpson was the best player available when I was picking and I'm a very big proponent on take the best guy available figure out the talent and yeah the guys oh absolutely electric player they're um you know great in coverage grading Pursuit things that we've been very very much missing you know uh just overall been a great running back the only thing that I'll say is a little concern is he's kind of like that tweener kind of linebacker where he's almost like a safety but he's not quite a safety yeah it's not like utility knife you can kind of move around different spots I thought we'd like to the first time he brings to the table yeah and I do think that's going to be said he's gonna like I really do the big thing with him I think as well is just because based on how he plays I think he's gonna need good defensive tackles kind of like a Ray Lewis used to make you know need as well not that I'm saying he's Ray Lewis he's no by no means Ray Lewis but Ray Ray Lewis needed you know a guy like you know a big tackle like a Tony Siragusa to go ahead and you know take those guys on to keep him freed up and I think he's gonna need that as well luckily he's gonna have you know Dexter Lawrence potentially you know uh you know also sexy Leonard Williams depending what happens with his contract as well so yeah I think that's a big thing that we're gonna have the guys necessarily to keep him freed up and let him do his thing there um so I'm kind of excited to see what he can do because I think he's a pure athlete but I I also have what any like any guy I'm gonna give you guys a pro and a con for everybody basically uh it's always that you know this could happen that can happen I mean there's you never know but that's the one thing that scares me is if he gets a guy unblocked towards him can he shed the block Kenny said an edge if need be if if the you know the the edge rusher is going towards the quarterback it's it's going to be interesting to see that part of him in the NFL but absolutely electric played an amazing conference obviously to get some great competition and I think this is a guy that would be potentially the best linebacker we've had since Antonio Pierce he's gonna I think he's gonna be that good well I mean if we get him then I hope so yes all righty pick number two

flippity flap we're staking this draft is there a snake in the plane I'm tired of all these snakes on these planes get these [ __ ] snakes uh so I went wide receiver this time I did because I agree with you we need a wide receiver I had a guy available towards the very top um that I I wanted to go with I did have an edge rusher listed as best player of hill before him but I'm I'm okay with Kayvon and Aziz and I didn't want to take the risk of not getting a high-end Talent wide receiver in this draft so I got Marvin Mims wide receiver out of Oklahoma and you know the guy has been absolutely electric for them he's great at Yak which is something that I love seeing as well the guy can go ahead and get no no not new I don't know if he's good at puking I also don't know if he can climb the Himalayas if that's your next question but he's a consistent catcher uh you know he's he's a guy that's also a little smaller and I think that's gonna scare off some teams but I look at how much the Giants really wanted to get Devonta Smith when he was coming out of Alabama until the whole Cowboys and Eagles screwing us over the LeapFrog for him and I think that that's not going to scare them because to that uh I think he's gonna need a little more work on fine-tuning his routes as well but the guy has hands the guy has natural explosive ability and you can't always train those things so I'll take a guy like that I'll fine-tune some of the stuff he needs as far as the routes and like I said I think we're gonna get a really good wide receiver and you know overall here to go ahead and be if not a one maybe a two you know what I mean I'm not sure if he's gonna be a solid one but I'm not sure that solid one is going to be available for us in this draft because there's usually a pretty good run in the middle of the first round that's we've seen the last couple years to have one even a 25 for us would be amazing but you know like you guys you happen to lock out and get one I didn't have an option in what I did mine so we'll see where that runs but like I said I got Marvin Mims uh like I said out of Oklahoma coming to be a New York Giant all right I like the pick once again so I also with uh I don't know if you're aware of how a mock draft goes sir but you're not supposed to be so cordial oh well I mock your pick [Music] I'm with uh Tariq Stevenson uh the quarterback out of Miami uh the corner out of Miami yes so this guy had uh eight uh 18 solar tackles last year two interceptions and then um he's also six foot to 114 pounds so I mean the guy's got he's got some speed on him he's uh his 2021 year I was uh also almost twice as many tackles twice as many assists he had even half a sack in his 2021 career 2022 no sacks but uh he had two interceptions with the devil from last year so I think yeah that's another position where we're lacking which you know what it really knocks that down you know what I really like about him and I think why this is a good pick if we if we go this route um he's extremely physical and he's a tough man corner yes what is Wink like extremely physical tough man corners he doesn't like tough man you don't know don't judge listen I'm not judged that was the previous coach

[Laughter] but yeah no I I think I I think it's a good pick I really do I think I think it's a a player that you know Miami's obviously given some good players over the year um I I think he needs a little bit of help in the tackling Department from what I've seen to him he has had a few misses on that but that's not atypical on Corners because some of these guys are just the flashy corners and that's what he's been so I was gonna say look at Dory Jackson right how many times did he have last year yeah yeah it's because your Corner's not getting you tackles doesn't mean he's not doing a good job it means he's stopping the ball from getting into the hands of the receiver which is his job exactly so I I said I like the pick I do I do as much as this is a mock draft and I want to mock you for it instead I will mock you for your hat it keeps on going to the side you know hat all right for my third pick in this 2023 draft mock draft oh Sean Tucker out of Syracuse running back oh see I see what you did there I did so I I do believe that one of our two running backs that we got that have seen the ball a little bit this year or quite a bit this year will not be giant next year so we will need to replace let's replace with a guy that's you know 5 10 205 pounds likewise biggest Barkley bigger than Brett I believe he had a thousand yards a thousand sixty yards I should be yeah he yeah he truth to be told he had 11 touchdowns and he averaged 5.1 yards a carry you know what I think is interesting about him is he's a smaller fast running back he but he's also a little sloppy in past protection uh he's also drops the ball a few times almost like like a poor man saquon it's almost like if we lost saquon this is a guy that could replace him at you know a million and a half a year instead of paying him 14 million dollars and you can work on some of that stuff yeah and you have them cheap for four years

draft the running backs always draft or after after after running backs yes you're saying look at that look at the and I see the thing going around non-stop on social media so I don't want to beat a dead horse but you see the the list of running backs on teams that won the Super Bowl and there really hasn't been a guy in the last like 20 years has gotten like more than two and a half million dollar salary you the teens with the high profile running backs do not win championships guys and whether it's because they're paying these running backs or it's just coincidence I'm not going to say either way either one's possible but it's something to look at because I don't want to continue getting to the playoffs and being out of the second round playoffs I want to win a championship I want another ring I want number five so we can tie the Cowboys and other fans can shut the hell up because it means we had three Super Bowl rings since their last one yeah we don't have to listen to them anymore

one more let me put a little perfume on it because it's good roast yeah yeah it's old they haven't won anything in forever I'm old and the last time they won I was in Middle School

yeah and I'm 40 now yeah the last time they won I was in Middle School for those in New Jersey that are old remember that time that we had like two feet of snow and those of us in school were out of school for like a week the blizzard of 96. that was fantastic that's the last year the Cowboys won a Super Bowl

think about how long ago that was

coming up on their uh to come up on a three year anniversary of it yes yes they should really celebrate 30 years of losing yeah so you know it's funny you went with a corner because a next pick third round pick pick 89. I went with Caillou blue Kelly cornerback out of Stanford so I also went Corners like we're going in the same positions just like a slightly different order because I picked the linebacker starb yeah I was about to say yeah that's basically the difference here uh you know guy's been uh you know he's one of those aggressive guys on the field he plays man coverage very well um you know he's the one thing I I think is a concern the same as I mentioned you see we talked about you know with your pick there he's had some missed tackles um the other thing I didn't mentioned with yours that I should mention as well is again the fact that both our guys that we picked for Corner are very specific to Winx defense they're pressed man corners and if we ever lose wink next year or something like that we still have these guys for three years and they're not those guys that can switch off the Zone they are specifically pressed man Corner guys so it's just something to think about as we talk about Corners because if you get a guy who's versatile then he's versatile in in where he can play what kind of scheme he can play in and we might be changing of the year or two our defensive scheme entirely because we can't hold on to wink forever unless we can which I would be very happy with doing until he's not effective yeah whatever day that may be um but yeah so like I said I I I'm drafting Kelly uh you know I'm taking a guy who is obviously very intelligent because he went to Stanford uh you know a school that's got some history with some Corners you know Richard Sherman so yeah I'll take a guy like that all day of the week especially a third round pick because that's a guy that I think has the potential to be our number two corner foreign hopefully

you know I don't see him starting too much this you know I don't I see the corner starting but I gotta see him starting number two at the beginning of the year but I think he worked their way up both these guys oh yeah

all right is it you're turning into snakes I just went I just went I just went number my pick 89 you're up next yeah which is interesting so I just realized something so you used NFL Mock draftdatabase.com and I had to use uh pfns and they have us listed on pfn at pick 102. NFL Mock Draft simulator uh for the NFL mock draft database one because this is 100 at 100. so I I that's a little weird there I want to look to see which one that really is uh but yeah who you got here pick 100 I went with Ivan Pace Junior linebacker out of Cincinnati it's almost like it's almost like where we know what the issues are with the team and we're drafting based on that to a certain degree pretty much so this yeah he's a senior six foot 239 pounds he had four sax here 60 solo tackles this is fantastic we fill you up with another 65 assisted tackles let's have a draft party we're making a mockery so and he's like another list guys just all over the field like yeah here's here's the one thing I'll say as well that I really like about that pick for you there he's a blitzing linebacker and obviously wink is a very Blitz happy defense so that works out pretty well I think to have it have a guy like that come in uh the one concern I would give you besides his size because my guy had the same issue is he hasn't been very good in man coverage so I don't know how that's gonna play out overall for us there but I think it's going to be interesting to see where that part of it goes you know yeah so give me one second though Rob I gotta step out for just two seconds here or else we're gonna lose this because dummy me forgot to put my power cord in so talk about it a little more for a second [Laughter] oh geez look at him go should we talk about Drew since he's gone I'm going solo here

all right so Ivan Pace Jr linebacker makes me feel very old because he was born in the year 2000.

um he was in the Senior Bowl this past year he started out in uh Miami from 2019 to 2021 and with uh transferred over to Cincinnati he was at AAC defensive player of the year Anonymous All-American last year First Team all ACC 2022 First Team all M8 Mac 2021 so this guy's has some you know some potential here to grow he played in 13 games as a true freshman year in Miami with 19 tackles and seven uh sacks his freshman year okay I'm back did we go over the Gettysburg Address

alrighty so you're ready for my next pick here

yes we are so now guys take over to uh my next tackle uh my next tackle uh oh whoa you just did pick 100 I got to do my pick 102. aren't we sneaking that's what I was trying to say before we start with the snake you did two oh wait I did my first oh no I was just flippy floppy with you wow that's what the snake draft is I start you go you go down I go that's how you do in the draft that's right I can hear one or two I was doing okay I always do it like that so that way we each get to go for the same picks here so I got my 102. and I completed our rendition of having identical positions drafted by drafting a running back Kendra Miller running back at a TCU uh guy is the exact opposite of saquon because I think we're gonna get saquon back I really do I think that the tea leaves are telling me that uh I could very well be wrong because he could put a Line in the Sand with the money and wait for somebody else to get it unless we can put a franchise tag in which is what I really want to do um probably what's going to happen you gotta you gotta sign Jones first you're not going to take the risk of letting Jones hit the market if we can sign Jones first then yeah tag him say you know what we gave you 12 and a half million dollars we gave you a chance now you could pay for 10 you can play 10 million dollars instead yeah on you sorry yep you had your chance um so the interesting thing about Miller is besides the fact that TCU obviously is placed in pretty good talent here uh the last couple years the guy is the exact opposite of sick one like I said he's he's a natural running back with great instincts and vision we've talked before about sometimes we've had some questionable choices on saquon on his vision when a hole is open right in the middle he tries to bounce outside uh he's a very strong running back uh he does have issues overall with you know being explosive uh he does have issues with production in the passing game like I said I think he's the perfect compliment to say Quan because I do think we'll have sick one here at least for the next couple of years and I think this is a guy that if I'm wrong and what he is and he shows up to be better been great yeah you got an eventual replacement then for saquon because let's be honest running running backs don't typically have the longest shelf life in the world no so yeah so I got I got country Miller like I said pick 102 slash 100 since both of our mock drafts the websites gave us different numbers

so weird who you got who you got coming up here at pick 128 in the fourth round Rob 128 I went with Blake Friedman offensive tackle BYU this dude here I don't have too much on him but he's a big ass dude excuse my language

um are you saying Baby Got Back oh yeah he got some back no there's an effective movement in the Run game and if identifies and um passes off stunts and protection uh very efficiently uh through things and he shows his good hand usage and a leverage and he uh cuts off a lot of blocks yeah I mean but listen we obviously need help at the offensive tackle position and you'll hear some people in these kind of mock drafts going we don't need one we got Evan Neal we got uh Andrew Thomas well what happens guys if one of those guys could hurt what happens if Eva Neal doesn't do as well as we're hoping year two and we go hmm I mean we've even seen guys regress in their second year you never know what's gonna happen never know he does have some concerns with him but it was I think his concerns are technique yeah pretty much to be coached you're picking this guy in the fourth round you're not picking this guy up as a first round pick so I'm okay with having to have a guy sit for a year or two learn technique and have him hopefully be ready to go if his number gets called well that's it that's what I say a lot of the concerns or the same concerns that we have at ebb Neil that they worked on this technique yeah very good the running game but it had issues in past sets yeah it sounds very familiar to evaniel so yeah so I did go different here we're gonna we're gonna end potentially our streak of picking the same kind of players here but in different spots so let's see well it depends on what you did because I really really want to shore up the linebacker position in this draft because I think linebacker is a position you just draft and draft and draft same as you know offensive line same as Corners like you got to keep drafting these guys basically because you got to keep them young keep them fast keep them moving so I went ahead and went with ding and Henley uh linebacker out of Washington state for those who were here for our first mock draft I picked him then as well and I saw him available as like the best player available and I'm like you know what do I go with the second linebacker like that yeah I'm doing I'm doing it so this is a guy who is ironically enough as I talk about Simpson earlier on the first pick he's like a poor man Simpson basically he's like the Family Guy the Walmart so he's was a former wide receiver they converted over to linebacker think about it a wide receiver who got converted to a running actually was a linebacker that's that's you don't see that very often that kind of thing you usually see a quarterback do it I've seen that before I really don't ever hear about that kind of stuff so he's extremely athletic he's got huge upside because you've seen him get better as he's played the position more he's very explosive he's actually shown some promise as a Blitzer again we talked about that link likes the blitz Blitzkrieg Bop he's forming in a straight line um you know but again he's that guy who's kind of that tweener linebacker so the question is can he play every down can he shed a block that's going to be the thing and I think it's going to be one of those things that we're going to learn that later on as we go and I think because of his athleticism if you need to start you know Simpson and and save our beavers Terry and beavers there um

we got those two going to start and he could be a guy that takes another year or two to kind of season since he didn't play the linebacker position much and then can go ahead and you know be a special teamer for us for a little bit there's no shame in that of a fourth round pick to be a backup linebacker who plays special teams as long as you hopefully progress to somebody who gets actual decent time before your contract's up so yeah like I said I got Henley again linebacker to Washington State

okay so I'll I'll take it I'll take it who you got with your fifth round pick there up is this right back

I switched up you know because where else did we struggle a little bit I mean I do like our defense but I went with the defensive lineman out of South Carolina uh Zach Pickens Zach Pickens all right tell us about Zach good old Zack attack

is that too much is he friends with AC Slater perhaps and does he have a crush on Kelly Kapowski yeah because listen if he did who can blame them I think everybody every kid back then had a crush on Kelly capacity yeah pretty much yeah pretty much yeah it's either that or you just weren't the women some of you guys were into uh it was Zach or Kelly I'm not judging either way Slater was anyway uh so yes listen Casey Slater is a schmuck first off okay Mario first off Mario Lopez for those who don't know and I'm gonna say disclaimer this is my own personal opinion you can't sue us now you can't pull up Brett Favre um he's a schmuck he's an absolute schmuck I just I never it was just something always when I saw him in an interview seem fake and then you know he married the Doritos girl right the girl that was in all those Doritos commercials that like every like guy was like hot to trot for like 20 years ago

you know what I'm talking about okay so I'm telling you you just Google and I'm gonna verify right now yeah just Google Doritos girl she'll come right up her name is Ali Landry apparently so he married her he went out to go get some ice or something during the honeymoon and went down to the bar and tried to cheat on her on the honeymoon on the honeymoon schmuck yeah that's that's pretty lowball yeah yeah wow yeah like that's not even like a oops I made a mistake years into the marriage that's a I decided to do this on the honeymoon that's like we're just doing this this way uh you don't have to say anything about putting a ring out anymore exactly exactly terrible exactly back back to back to my opinions who had nothing to do with AC Slater's mistakes whatsoever uh man six foot four 305 pounds he was uh uh in 2022 he's a Rex enlightened co-player of the spring defense right uh 2021 SEC fall academic honor honor roll he's a smart guy yeah that's why he's not on the show

more importantly in 2021 he was most improved player of the spring defense yeah you know he's smart enough and he could learn and improve one thing that I really want to see him learn and improve if we if we do take a guy like this is as big as he is because again you mentioned he's 305 pounds he's a big boy he's a big boy he has trouble getting around double teams

he's the size of two people you need to figure that out guy you gotta figure it out and I worry about that sometimes because that's one thing that I feel like people are very good at or that are not and at that next level that's a huge thing but again when we're picking guys and you know the the fifth round the sixth round the seventh round these are guys that just going I see he does this good let's see what else we can teach them to do good while we got him yeah for your starter and you're looking for the guy who's your your franchise player if you're looking at that in the sixth round then you better hope Tom Brady is available yeah that's the only six round pick I could think of off top of my head that was that kind of player um so yeah I mean like I said it's it's a good pick it's a it's a position we may very well need depending on what happens with Leonard Williams a little more depth on um you know we talked about in the episode where you went over all our potential free agents we have some free agents at that position as well so yeah no good pickup I think I appreciate that thank you you're welcome you're welcome sir so my fifth round pick I continued the trend where I went with a position that you already went with tackle I went with a tackle John ajuku out of Boise State the Bluegrass field itself

he's one of those guys that I think is gonna have a long career as a swing tackle I don't think he's ever going to be a great starter but the guy's got the size he's got the height he's got all the measurables you're going to want out of a tackle there's no question If he's big enough to play tackle in the NFL he's got a ton of experience over 3 500 snaps in college football but he's got some issues overall with his you know his his technique as far as leverage setting the anchor you know the stuff that you get taught basically in peewee football and he's been able to depend on his size at college and that's not going to happen to the NFL so but I do think he's never going to embarrass himself either he's one of those I think he's a high floor low ceiling kind of guy where he may eventually turn into best case scenario a low end starter worst case scenario an okay backup and that's fine to have at this at this kind of position that's true again you're not expecting you know to go ahead and get the best player in the world right now so yeah yeah I'm down yeah um so how many picks did you actually go with did we establish this because

well I'm saying it uh as we go through this I realize how many okay what was to get to five six seven yeah no no you and I got the same amount of of uh a picture so because this the ones we were using were basically assuming the comp picks that were expected to have I don't think we've actually been given fully yet but yeah we're gonna get them yeah yeah there's a good Goodell was already talking about that so hopefully we get them so go with it who's your next player will merrily merrily once again from Miami Titan Mallory welcome back to Miami the ding ding ding ding ding so tied in we talked about it like the way this uh offensive has worked up I think it's I can't help but laugh right now I'm looking at my notes I have for the player not not to circumvent your notes it's your player but he's a tight end with firm hands it says

Whoa hello

let's keep it PG

what are your client sir I've been playing so it likes a good firm hand yeah shake so of course [Laughter] so he's a big tight end which could be great for blocking oh yeah

uh with these six functional strength I mean hopefully at six five 245 pounds you have some functional strength working for you oh my God but I mean

for the year he had 42 receptions 530 in a serious conversation again we're like we're like children trying to do an actual news you know uh information thing for for fans here it's like uh I was at work the other day and I was talking with a customer well I was with someone else and they were talking with a customer and she was like yeah they're in the heavy duty Department I'm in the background like you said Duty oh my uh womp Phoenix I'll say this because I I work in the automotive industry if anybody wants to have some real fun call up a parts store ask them for the uh water pump gasket for a 95 Toyota Tacoma and when they say yes we have it in stock say give me a favor I've gotten it before it was the wrong one can you go ahead and describe to me the shape of it to make sure I have it right and for those who are curious just Google 95 Toyota Tacoma water pump gasket and you'll understand exactly why it's freaking hilarious

uh but anyways back to your back to your pick we still got more picks to go send them like a two-hour episode the way we're going all right so let's go back all right so six five three four years what yeah 42 receptions 538 yards last year three touchdowns in the average 12.8 so he's got those firm hands could catch him but he's also a good blocker as well so the way this office Works to get him those are you know working together could be a nice little uh extra patent for our current possibly new running backs and DJ yeah and you know what I thought about trying to get a tight end at some point in this draft because of you know it's looking at the need I personally think and I could be wrong in this so I'm not not to say that your your pick was a mistake I personally think that what's gonna happen is we're gonna go ahead and get a second tight end in the uh you know in the free agency time period you know a guy to have a double tight end set with Bellinger and I think that Lawrence cager is signed already and we might sign one more Camp body and that's going to be our line our tight end group but I I'm with you on the thought process because I I think we need another tight end my question is just because of the fact we need offensive weapons in general are they gonna wait to get a tight end this late in Draft when there's not a lot of good wide receivers available in free agency I think they're going to get one in the in free agency from the tight end position the guy who's gonna you know be that big slot receiver kind of guy like like a Mike or you know Dalton Schultz that kind of guy so hopefully I'm right on next we need we definitely need some weapons guys we need weapons yeah I mean I will with the with the uh Concepts I went with the best uh available player at the time oh yeah no like I said it's not a bad picks we we need weapons worse than Ukraine does so um oh dude no that's not go political here I didn't go political I would geographical touche

so yeah now we lost all our viewers in Russia [Laughter] both of them are good you go da that's German it's also yes in Russian is it yeah well I don't know I want to speak Russian why do you speak Russian how long have you been a citizen Rob 37 years and uh-huh before that month were you somewhere cold perhaps it was actually friend Florida so it was actually born closer to where you live to where I live that's hours and hours away where you were Panama City bet you didn't think I knew that one see I pay attention in conversations Rob so way closer than me driving there yeah yeah it's definitely all righty all right so it's time for my fifth round pick here my uh sorry my first six round pick I'm sorry uh pick 209 I went with Thomas income Edge out of Central Michigan and because I think we're gonna have to get somebody to replace uh oh Shane's Eminence because I think he's going to be gone I don't think we're going to keep him I think we've seen enough he's just not good he's a borderline NFL player we need to improve the position especially with the injuries we've had at edge with ogilari being out so much this past year you know especially with we're talking about how uh Jihad War we think we both think he's gonna be back next year but he before this year he was never really a good pass rusher not that he was even a good one this year he just did better than we expected so I want to get an edge guy that can rush I want to get a guy who's going to go ahead and be a a guy who can come in almost like a messiah Kiwanuka a guy who can come in rush the passer come back out when it's run plays pop him back in on third down again and have a fresh set of legs to go in and that's who this guy is so he's he's still developmental um you know but was a top-notch sack artist throughout his college career uh he's got the build he's got the size for the NFL um but he does need development still and he does need to learn also to process what's going on in the field in front of him as well so he needs experience basically I'll take a guy who's got the physical tools but needs experience that's that's especially this late in the draft because you can you can see what she got in him and listen it's not difficult to outplay Ocean it's not yeah let's be honest there the guy went two years straight without a sack I think we'll be fine we'll figure it out yeah yeah we'll be fine so like I said that's so that's who I got there for us like I said I think I think we need one Edge rusher I think this is the time to get it'll be a nice cheap pick uh it's a fast Speedy pass rusher kind of guy and you know it's something that we don't have as a backup right now at the edge position yeah I agree it's a good good spot good show sir good show jolly good 218 round six I got myself Chandler zavila Sevilla Chandler and Rachel Chandler

so he's uh he got me all sidetracked talking to my friends now messed me off my notes yeah Chandler Savala Savannah is INS inside thine uh offensive uh lineman I don't know if he's inside Rachel oh hey now oh Haley now who's not keeping a PG I I said he was in Rachel's apartment he was having a cup of tea wow jolly good wow North Carolina State boy North Carolina money Raiser he's another big boy Pablo oh there you go take your shirt off spin around like a helicopter [Laughter] this man's six foot five and three points 325 pounds that's big so for perspective I'm six foot seven and I'm like 260. so we gotta get an intro too when this guy and he's got a good freaking 60 pounds on me yeah that's that's insanity maybe I'm not so fat after all

past the stickers the stickers by the way Snickers if you're interested in the sponsorship we're available at two giant goofballs on mail.com we enjoy all your tasty flavors [Music] uh but yeah no I mean middle middle position of the you know the offensive line has been an issue with us obviously last year it's a good spot overall to get and yeah I'm with you 100 I did a little different for for my my second sixth round pick here um I went with Christian uh Eisen out of uh Rutgers safety uh my concern is this one Dane Belton didn't impress me to the rest of our backup safeties were guys off the scrap heap of other teams you know Jason Pinnock of the Jets and Tony Jefferson of the Ravens and we still don't know what's gonna happen with Julian love this guy actually reminds me a little bit of Julian love and I'm not saying he's going to get as good as Julian love is but he's got that chance to be that kind of player uh he's kind of Swiss Army Knife Guy in the secondary he started off as a corner before he was ever a a safety what's interesting is you would think a guy who went from corner to safety would be a free safety would be a ball Hawk safety no he plays strong safety he plays like a box safety that's the interesting spot because if we don't resign love obviously is our free safety we need a strong safety so here's a guy with covered skills because he was a corner a guy who plays at a school that tends to pump out guys for the secondary because Rutgers hazardously pumped a lot of NFL guys out but they pumped out some great guys in the secondary asked Bill Belichick he gets him almost every time and yeah the one concern I do have with him is he has shown me better in zone than he has in man coverage and obviously we like to play a man covered system but as as a guy who I think we can hopefully train to get better with that because he's a six round pick you take that shot especially because he's also a good Blitzer and again that does fit very well in into Wing system so like I said I I think it's a good pick overall for us and I think it's a guy that you know I think we're gonna we're gonna see some good things out of potentially whoever gets him I actually have pretty high on the guy overall that's nice we got out of her first of three seventh round picks Alex forsith the once again he's uh another interior offensive lineman he's that out of Oregon he's a duck oh yes that worked out well for us Lemieux

yeah anyway he's not a big guy six foot four 312 pounds yep uh he almost won the he was the finalist in the Jason Witten award that he does for these guys um Lombardi uh uh award mid-season he was on the watch list for that um yeah yeah and this is It's a good pick because this is the guy who has the NFL size he's shown he's been you know smart at some of the moves and reactions he's had he's been a consistent player to Oregon but he does have some technique issues which is again we're not gonna get a perfect player in the seventh round so this is a guy that you can try to develop and I think it's a good guy to get to try to develop so I'm with you I like the pick actually um yeah I did go a little different with my first seventh round pick and I think it's a move that Mike kind of shock some people because I'm getting rid of Scrooge mcpunt and I'm getting rid of the Scottish hammer uh you like that's Rouge big puns like that yeah yeah he's not getting he's not getting a a bank full of money from us um so I went with Michael Turk punter out of Oklahoma he was third in the nation in punt average 12th in punting yards so the big one obviously is the punt average so he can kick the ball pretty far he was pff's honorable mention All-American he's actually the nephew if you're a member of former All Pro prunter Matt Turk who played from 93 to 2011. so this is a guy who has got some family history here his Nick nickname is hang time I got a lot of information this guy for a punter I'm actually excited I'm really excited about this pick now here's the really interesting part about this I have never ever heard of this happening my entire time following the draft looking at you know mock drafts looking at you know guys for the Giants overall before mock draft became a thing online he actually went to get drafted in 2020. he went into the draft that's undrafted and the NCAA reinstated his two years eligibility I have never seen that happen hmm so yeah so uh so I think I think it's a guy who's had a lot of history with the NCAA um you got a lot of you know good experience and he is that guy who while he plays a position that you don't typically count for athleticism he's very strong he's very athletic so when he did go to the combine which is interesting because usually don't get combine information this early on so two years ago he went in he actually broke the record for bench press reps amongst punters in fact he was so good that he did more bench reps than all 33 wide receivers that participated 12 out of the 13 tight ends that participated and you know the one guy he didn't beat he tied him for bench press reps and and here's the kicker he's the kicker no here he's the kicker he beat out 19 to 34 offensive linemen for bench press reps as a hunter to be a rough in the kicker he punted for three different colleges three Lafayette College Arizona State and then when he went back after being not drafted he went to Oklahoma for the last couple years as a sophomore in 2019 against Kent State University he got punts of 64 yards 62 yards 65 yards 49 yards and 75 yards setting an NCAA single game record with a 63-yard punt average per attempt that's pretty ridiculous right there yeah I don't think I've heard anyone so excited to talk about it you know what it is because this is the time to do it because we have so many goddamn picks we do we have so many goddamn picks so you know what you take one of these seventh round picks you go get a rookie and you tell the Scottish Hammer to go have some hagas somewhere because like you know my thoughts on him all year long he's got a boomer kick I don't mean he's old I mean he booms the ball pretty far yeah but every single one of them is right up the goddamn middle he cannot hit the corner for anything and I'm tired of seeing the ball sail into the end zone tired of it I need an actual puncher not a kicker and I'm hoping this is the guy that can do it so I I think I think it's I think it's it's an outside the box move but I think it's a good move for us overall

yeah not bad at that yeah I mean I also did not draft a kicker I I actually went pretty heavy it was a punter not a kicker I'm sorry sorry punter punter he cannot put the ball in the ground and then kick it he has to have keep it in his hands you're right sorry Hunter the punter so yeah like I said I I think I think it's I think it's a good move there so who you got going next there for your next pick 45. 45

245. I once again three in a row one with a hat trick wrong sport if I went with it another offensive lineman I just went deep I went deep

Gotta Love Me or too I can't douche that she's such such an amazing voice though yes she does so he's out of uh Brandon I'm sorry did I say uh Brandon Daniels out of Utah are you saying that let's go Brandon I wasn't but I know I mean no I said let's go with Brandon oh yeah yeah let's go with Brandon wow where'd you go where'd you think I was going wow

another guy who's six foot four he didn't hit the 300 pound Mark but that could change by the NFL draft 297 pounds one good point one good buffet and he's there he's 290 yeah one good Buffet I mean he's uh he's still a junior class this year um he's got 49 career games played 43 starts so he's been in most of his games I think this is his freshmans when he was in there he was a a Pac-12 all-conference first team in uh 2022. yeah uh and his second team selection in 2021 as a sophomore you know what I like about him he kind of reminds me of the kind of plug and play kind of um lineman that we used to have with the old Giants you know like a guy who could literally play pretty much any position kind of like a Nick Gates is now for us because he played at both tackle positions he played a left guard obviously if you can play left guard you can play right guard you just might yeah you just might might need some Speed Stick but you know it's a step back you'll be right oh yes I went Right Guard speed stick on you by the way Right Guard if you're just in the sponsorship we are available in two giant goofballs at mail.com please reach out yes but yeah I mean it's it's he's a guy who I think is better suited as a guard in the NFL I think he'll be a backup guard for somebody and again we need bodies there yeah so I'm cool with it if you guys do you uh you guys use uh State's uh website and they'll talk about say how this guy has helped them average their run game being so damn good no they would not say damn in Utah yeah they do not cuss there they will say he was gosh darn good yeah and then the bar shuts down because it's past ten o'clock pretty much yeah alrighty so next up on my 245 pick I have the guy with the coolest name we will ever have in the NFL draft pretty much okay and for those people who are wondering this when I say the name they're gonna say is that really his name this is legitimately his legal name he did change it as a teenager and his parents were okay and signed off that it's okay to do it his name is bumper pool

linebacker out of Arkansas the guy is an absolute tackling machine he's got SEC experience got a very high motor he's shown to be very good on special teams in college which is again these are the things you have to look at later on because these guys who are back up linebackers and again I know I took another linebacker and it's what it is guys told you that Beaver is the only one I want to keep on next year we got a retool that whole entire position um but when you're gonna make it as a guy who's drafting the seventh round as a linebacker you're going to make it by playing special teams and playing special teams well so this is a guy that has the athletic system to play on Kick coverage he's got length he's got the right kind of body to do this kind of work he's not a guy that you go oh he's way too small to play this kind of position he's there the only issue he's had as a player in college and he's been very inconsistent in past coverage uh reading passing plays he needs a lot of work on that but if you need a guy that you can pop in during run stopping plays especially since remember we already drafted a linebacker I drafted two tweener kind of guys so now we're getting a guy who's the complete opposite a guy who's a beast that you can throw in on goal line situations a guy you can throw in on Third and the fourth short you know kind of positions there and you know Siri develops into overall but pop my special teams in those kind of short yardage things so yeah I think I think it's a good enough as good as you're gonna get in the seventh round pick I'll put it that way yeah no I agree and it's funny because my final pick of this draft was the linebacker oh is it bumper pool did you also like the name bumper pool I love the name pepper full but it was available when I got to pick him

let me ask you this if you had a son Rob and he was 16 years old and comes to you and say you know what I want to do I want to change my name we go son what would you want to change your name to what are you interested in bumper pool

salt bumper are you signing that paperwork because I'm saying right now if I have a kid at 16 who wants that I ain't signing that paper it depends because he's really good at football and he's going to put me in a good retirement home you could be called bumper buddy we're drafting him in the seventh round trust me you were going to be in in the cheapest one ever so candy Cristiano chimes in saying I would take him to rehab uh they try to save him to rehab no no no no ah someone should have taken her to rehab I'm just saying she did die from alcohol poisoning I mean she's literally saying about how they try to take a rehab so yeah apparently not hard enough

alrighty so who who do you get that what linebacker did you get with your last job the last uh spot there though the one who does not have nearly a cool his name is bumper pool nope definitely it's not but he's a he's a Duke guy so is he the Duke of Earl duke duke duke duke

I went with seika Hayworth oh six foot three uh sounds like a fancy coffee he does does it sounds like coffee yeah it does a little bit is that right it's like what's that that's the sake of Hayward I'm like up there yeah

603 240 pounds this guy had a pretty pretty nice uh sets us here um he had 40 till tacos at 40 solo tackles some pretty nice sex yeah he has some pretty nice Stacks yeah it's a pretty lady sacks there yeah for multiple stacks awesome well it's like elephantitis yeah better watch out bud uh [Music] but yeah no I mean he said the good development guy um yeah a guy that has played decent at the school he went to but he went to Duke so the question is did you play decent because he went to Duke or did he played decent because he plays decent this is true he didn't dominate Duke let's be clear on that he didn't dominate but he played good the Ross taking in the last oh no I'm just saying that's the interesting part about it when you watch him on film and you look at what the draft profiles are given for this guy they're saying oh he did very good against the Run he's been very good at sacking the quarterback he's been very good at this been very good at that well yeah because he's playing Central East Michigan Polytech Christian University you know you're playing Duke you know they do play the occasional good team don't get me wrong but it's not the PowerHouse team you know ask Daniel Jones I mean you do well for us so far that's Dave Brown you want to go that route I'll bring up I'll keep bringing up two quarterbacks so I find the one that befits my narrative we take all the new quarterbacks we take them all we take we we take Duke quarterbacks like we you know like we interview uh West Texas A M wide receivers

uh yes it's true we've we've interviewed all of them

good guys though um yeah Hey listen I'll always talk to a former player I love the perspective people actually play the game like this so for my last pick I did go with an offensive lineman and I did go with the guard out of the Bluegrass State Kentucky so I went from a Bluegrass field in the TCU running back to a bluegrass state with a guard out of Kentucky I go with DeSean Manning um guy was originally a defensive tackle and he got converted over to guard so I like guys that are converting you notice they're like the thing about that as I say yeah yeah I have more converts that are born again Christian Church here it's like

so uh but what I like about guys like that the Plato offenses with the defense or vice versa is they tend to have a perspective of what the guy is going to look to do because they've had to do it they've had to play that type of role so I like that kind of you know that kind of thing um he's got a very interesting Arc overall to his career he actually had cancer oh damn yeah he had cancer so he had acute um leukemia as a a senior in high school and all good to go now nothing you know no worries you know he beat it you know congrats to him I'm beating that because that's especially as a kid that's rough man yes um he spent four years um with the Auburn Tigers graduated there went to more get more education over at Kentucky now so he's been playing college for a few years now big guy very big wide framed very powerful big it's bigger than your kid [Laughter] um but he's the guy of her hands he's got more puncher's hands so but he does need again he's a guy who needs more work on his technique overall again typical kind of thing expect to hear out of his seventh round draft pick but again this is a position we need to work on here's the guy we can get the work on from so um yeah round it up I mean you gotta you and I basically went the the very similar you know kind of positions here where's your last one I'll give you my last one did you yeah oh yeah you did yeah you did for some reason I was thinking you got another one to go so yeah I mean we went with very similar very similar positions in this we went different orders but it's interesting how you and I don't always agree on everything and that's fine we don't neither one of us takes it personal as far as that but we don't always kind of agree but you and I went to the same exact spot position wise here we both went linebacker offensive line wide receiver you know the the and it's it's funny how it's that obvious what the holes are on this team purely because oh yeah Corners we didn't purely take this because these were the guys that were you know the uh the the best players every single time it was because these are the best players at a position we needed correct and at that position at the time in the draft Yeah so I I think it's gonna be interesting to see if we're right on that but it all could depend on what they do in free agency so um The Next Step like I said guys we're going to go ahead and give you guys a positional rundown starting next week there we got some big guys lined up for there for that as well and what I mean big I don't mean they're fat I mean they're actually people you probably have heard of before so you know they might be fat I don't know I don't judge based on the weight okay uh so keep an eye out if you haven't already please hit that subscribe button makes us happy gives a little smile on our face there so if you're listening live thank you very much for being alive with us here keep in mind we also are available after the fact of your kitchen and halfway through we're also available on uh you know on the audio as well so if you want to listen to us the ride ride home or the ride to work there uh we're on pretty much every podcast platform no demand if you're listening to us on the audio version on a podcast there again folks we are available live every episode on Facebook Twitter and Instagram so take a follow take a share take a like there would give it all because the the more times you do that the more chances are you're not going to miss one of the episodes that come out and this is that time of the year that I don't care where you work If someone knows you like football even just randomly someone knows you like football and you're like oh what team you like they're gonna start asking you questions guys this is what we in the new be in the know because we can help you guys be in the know s oh photos oh Bo knows so keep an eye on everything coming out guys again thank you very much for listening in uh we definitely appreciate you guys coming to listen and hear what these two group polls have to say about our New York football Giants and as always folks imagine [Music]
